Solutions

  1. swaan's post in rock 5b not booting after switching to kernel 6.7 was marked as the answer   
    I think the armbian config tool upgraded to 6.1 and not 6.7 as I thought. Anyway I got it working again by getting the 5.10 kernel from the sd.
