ethernet gadget stopped working after host upgrade

g_ethernet worked great for a long time, then i updated the software on my destop and it is broken. it almost works but the host drops all the packets for some reason.

am i the only one that is having this problem?

i changed gadget module type from g_ether to g_cdc, now it works.  i still want to know why g_ether doesn't work with the updated desktop kernel.
