Disable Ethernet Physical Interface

Featured Replies

This seems like a really simple problem, but I can't find any pointers on any forums.

I am running a NanoPiNEO2 (Allwinner H5) using the latest Armbian build

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=16.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=xenial
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS"
I am trying all ways to save power. For most of the time, I do not need to use the Ethernet interface (I am using the USB interfaces for comms).

I have tried all the obvious commands such as ifdown, and explored ethtool, but nothing I do makes any difference to the current consumption of the device.

I expect i am missing something obvious - any help gratefully accepted.
