move armbian to another sd card(difference SD-sizes)

Featured Replies

Hello

i have armbian on a 64gb sd card. The card works not so good and has 64gb

i would like to move my full distributuion with all configs(wireguard, ssh, ftps, iobroker, ufw, etc) on a new 32GB  card.

how can i transfer it without losing data?

Thank you!

I did not test but I'd do something like this:

  1. create fs on the new sd like it is on the current one
  2. copy everything via rsync or similar that keeps symlinks, permissions and such of all files.
  3. Adjust rootdev=UUID= in /boot/armbianEnv.txt to match the UUID of the new sdcard.
  4. ???
  5. Profit

I'd start looking here:

I've got to wake up early but this looks like something I'm going to check in on in the near future, so I'll let you know what I find out.
