Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) Desktop vs Server/IOT for TVHeadend AMLogic S912 (Mecool KIII Pro TV Box) and adding DVB-S2 Drivers

Featured Replies

Hi there!

Firstly, a huge thank you to all the maintainers for this amazing project. I was hoping you could assist me with two questions:

  • Which version of Armbian (Desktop or Server/IOT) would be better for running TVHeadend on my device?
  • How can I add the DVB-S2 drivers to my device?

I've come across this post:

However, I'm unsure how to add those drivers myself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

You should try using CoreElec or Liberelec which provides built-in support for the tuner of Mecool KIII Pro TV Box. Also using kodi plugin install TVHeadend . Better Visit LinuxSat forum for better support. I have tried few years back and was working well on Mecool KIII Pro. Now its just a box in my collection not used.

Android TV and Android Boxes have taken over all the entertainment. Youtube is killing every ones time. Gone are the old days of hobby experimentation tracking satellites etc.
