    A quite easy workaround until it's resolved up-upstream is to install and enable the Cinnamenu applet and disable the "vanilla" menu applet. Right-click on the taskbar/panel, choose "Applets" and the rest is straightforward. To place the Cinnamenu in the bottom left corner, right click on the taskbar/panel and enter Edit mode to be able to move stuff around, finish Edit mode and you're all set.
