CSC Armbian for RK322x TV box boards
@Geronimo you have one of the most problematic board ( I own many of them, but all are working having only some problems on reboot because of wrong miniloadr, see in this discussion ) it has rk 3228 ddr2 nand as you did , me too in the beginning tried to flash some miniloaders, and this is not good because some of the have different 1T / 2T settings. This was an error !!! so far, actually , you have to do one thing: grab a usb/ttl converter ,(go search for one) remove sd card, use the 4th pin of sd card counting from right ( count also the 2 small pins of sd card reader switch) YES !! on that pin there is a serial uart and give here the early log of the board , including ddr version i can give you for sure that that board will work with linux, but you have to stay on kernel 4.4.189 , even if don't expect exceptional benchmarch

@Harleyyyu Your project could be interesting , I would suggest to open a dedicated 3ad on It own so people can contribute. As you have already realized by yourself quite all hardware and drivers aspects of this rk322x soc have bene investigated by @jockand/or @ilmich But if you achieve any progress on GENERAL drivers and performance that isn't already been discussed or achieved you can came back here to share Thanks

@Harleyyyu my 2 cents thought ..... We are talking about a 10 dollars soc . Is already a great milestone it is " just working" Anyway.. If you achieve any good result let's us know

@Jerry Falken I am pretty sure you jumped in this 3ad without reading all of it, and this is unfair . You are right, it is huge, but such question you ask have been already answered in the past many times , and I will answer just as a form of courtesy , but will not go back in the future on the same question again If you look at your board you can spot 3 pads : tx rx gnd . That is all is needed, no 5 volts just tx rx gnd Those pads are the "uart" , in other words there you will see ALL that happens when the board starts, if is a rk 322x or other fake print, if it is ddr3 or ddr2 manyyyyy manyyy infos to debug the whole process. For me it is a 3229 with ddr3 memory but uart will tell you Go find in the 1st post the speed of uart to use with putty or minicom ( spoiler :1500000 🙃 ) just for sake of coriousity, this si the setting I have in my lab: ALWAYS and I repeat ALWAYS a uart connected to debug what is going so if you need answer.. post the right questions and not generic ones g on

@Jerry Falken Never seen such board, you need usb-ttl converter , connect to tx-rx-gnd and grab the output

@Jerry Falken well this forum is more oriented on hardware and compiling stuffs rather than generic linux info that you can find every where on the net so I won't answer on this, google it You can remain also on old distros such as debian 9 stretch minimal without gui but with ssh support to run headless ngix apps. I don't think you need newer distros to run such easy apps , the important is improve a good firewall and also a fail2ban app to protect your system but, again, those are more generic linux questions rather than support on tvboxes socs

@Jerry Falken Unfortunately you must remain on kernel 4.4.xxx because as many times said newer kernels doesn t support NAND. About upgrading to newer distros, blacklist kernel update in apt and try doing seguential apt dist upgrades changing repository and starting by a well working distro I have up to Debian bookworm ( Debian 12 ) but only cli, no desktop May I ask what the purpose are you using for your tv box ?
-
CSC Armbian for RK322x TV box boards
@dale as usual shorting pins 6/7 on the well exposed nand
-
CSC Armbian for RK322x TV box boards
@Virgilio Junior None newer of 4.4.xxx ( usually 4.4.194) Will let you use internal nand You should spray on sd

CSC Armbian for RK322x TV box boards
@Virgilio Junior R329Q_V3.1 are known board to be a little "difficult" to manage, but they work and work very well because are ddr3 up to 660 mhz ram speed The big problem is that they are mostly NAND thus support is limited to legacy old images with kernel 4.4.194 and NAND support any newer kernel simply will not boot because of NO NAND DRIVERS I said MOSTLY because lately have shown on the market borads 329 with ecmp and i don't know if yours is this with ecmp would you explain in a more detailled way what you did, please ?

@Victor Picinin Hello Victor thank you for your work. Also @jock and @ilmich managed to obtain free source trust and not the proprietary One but i rembember there were issues ( DMC scaling on DDR3 ??? ) Sure jock or ilmich can answer better

@Mateus Lima It Is not the first neither will be the last time that china manufacturers fake soc printing. Have a look on allwinner forum
-
CSC Armbian for RK322x TV box boards
@Mateus Lima I am not very sure this Is a rockchip board.. i see h3q ...may be an allwinner h3 ?????? Can you check removing the heatsink ? Or check with USB ttl adapter ?

@Kiranmoy Saha I guess you have a box with NAND , not emmc You must use an old image that supports nand , typiclly kernel 4.4.xxx and follow 1st post jump start on nand Any newer kernel doesn't have nand support
