January 20, 20242 yr So I've had an odroid C2 running Armbian for the past couple of years without a hitch. Today however, when I try to login to my box either remotely or directly, I'm greeted with a login screen. On this box consists of 4 accounts (all mine) and I've set my primary account to automatically login when booted (never needed a password). Yet still, I'm greeted with the login screen. I try to login under my other accounts using my password, but even then, screen goes black for a second, then back to login screen. I really need some help here. As I said, I've been running Armbian flawlessly up until this point, now all of a sudden I can't even login to any of my accounts? Thanks in advance.
July 6, 20242 yr I have just encountered this issue as well with Armbian on OPi5+ and could use some help. Did you find a solution?
May 9, 20251 yr Same here, also with an OrangePi 5+. It used to work with autologin at startup but after some updates it didn't work anymore. When I start the board I get a graphical login screen and although I enter the password correctly, the login screen closes and then it appears again prompting to enter the password. The only way to log in is to switch to the text console (ctrl+alt+f3) and log in text mode and then run startx; I tried enabling/disabling auto login from armbian-config but it doesn't seem to do anything. user@orangepi5-plus:~$ cat /etc/issue Armbian 25.2.3 noble \l user@orangepi5-plus:~$ uname -r 6.1.99-vendor-rk35xx Does anybody have any ideas about this issue?
May 9, 20251 yr Sounds like an error with X. @ALL above: Did you recently update any packages? Please pastebin or attach the content of the ~/.xsession-errors file. Go and search for it if necessary "sudo find / -name .xsession-errors*"
May 12, 20251 yr I've attached the .xsession-errors log file content. As in regards to updating packages.... I always update my board every time I start it and I don't really pay attention to what it updates as I always update everything. After you mentioned about xsession errors, I noticed that in the bottom left corner there was a drop down list with the xsession (wayland and X11). I saw that by default Wayland is selected and when I selected X11 it just worked. xerror.log
