Electronic components have shrunk a lot over the year, but batteries are usually one of the larger items in a design. ITEN changes that with solid state lithium-ion micro-batteries in the shape of SMD components with up to 100 µAh capacity. This is clearly not going to power your next smartphone, but ITEM micro-batteries could be found in ultra-low-power sensors potentially replacing non-rechargeable coin cell batteries with much higher capacities (e,g. 100 mAh). ITEN says their solid-state micro-batteries are superior to coin cell batteries because those are polluting, difficult to assemble on PCB, costly to recycle and require periodic maintenance once a battery is de…

Description This PR partially reverts #5677 that I raised and merged today. I was able to get in touch with Samuel Holland and he suggested a fix for the network slowness issue which worked fine for current and edge. The fix doesn't seem to make a difference for legacy, but then the driver in legacy seems to be some early version of the driver that got merged in mainline. Hence I am leaving the driver disabled for legacy, while re-enabling the driver for current and edge with his proposed fix. Jira reference number AR-1833 How Has This Been Tested? In the past, new mini PCs were released as a result of new processors coming to market. However, with the pandemic and its consequences on the supply chain, some Chinese manufacturers’ survival response has been to source old processors in order to continue presenting new devices. It could be argued that for this approach to be successful these alternative older processors should at least be comparable in performance terms to the latest processors that are currently, or theoretically potentially, now available. In terms of low-end Intel mini PC processor chronology which started with Bay Trail and then Cherry Trail followed by the Lakes of Apollo and Gemini, the current b…

The AquaPing is an open-source hardware, ultra-low power acoustic water leak detector sensor based on Texas Instruments MSP430 microcontroller and a microphone that can detect leaks without having to do any plumbing, instead capturing audio for water leak detection, and it even works for leaks behind walls. All signal processing and analysis occur on the MSP430 MCU, so no audio is streamed to the cloud and eavesdropping is impossible, plus the sensor only captures high frequencies out of the range of normal conversations, so eavesdropping is not feasible, plus those higher frequencies are also said to provide highest sensitivity and reliability. Description This exposes the ITC content type provided by hdmi spec to v4l2. This allows user space applications to query the driver using V4L2_CID_DV_RX_IT_CONTENT_TYPE. This way user applications can see not only if a hdmi is plugged in or not, but also what type of video is being transmitted. For my use case specifically, I just want to know if the recieved type is no type (V4L2_DV_IT_CONTENT_TYPE_NO_ITC) or literally anything else. This would let me detect when my main computer's goes to sleep with the hdmi out from the main computer plugged into the OP5+ HDMI in. Without this patch, there's no way to tell that happened, as for my gpu/hdmi plug, it keeps the hot pl…

Raspberry Pi Trading has launched the Camera Module 3, their first camera module supporting autofocus and HDR, designed to work with all Raspberry Pi boards that can take a camera, and offered with either a standard or wide field-of-view, and an optional infrared cut filter. All four variants of the new camera module are equipped with a Sony IMX708 12MP sensor that supports high-dynamic range (HDR) and features phase detection autofocus. The Camera Module 3 has the same X/Y dimensions and mounting holes as the popular Camera Module 2 launched in 2016, but is several millimeters taller due to the improved optics. The Theengs Plug ESP32 smart plug runs OpenMQTTGateway firmware to serve as a BLE MQTT gateway and power meter compatible with Home Assistant, Homebridge, OpenHAB, DomoticZ, FHEM, Jeedom, NodeRed, AWS, and any MQTT-compatible IoT or Smart Home system. While the Matter standard should improve interoperability between Smart Home frameworks over time, there are still millions of devices already produced that are not Matter compatible, and the Theengs Plug aims to at least partially address this issue by helping users reduce the number of hubs required and have only one that supports different ecosystems. Theengs Plug hardware specifications: Microcontroller – ESP32 dual-core…

Firefly AIO-3588SG is a compact, low-profile SBC with Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi 6, and an 8K capable USB-C port with DisplayPort that is based on the company’s Core-3588SG module powered by a Rockchip RK3588S octa-core Cortex-75/A55 processor with up to 32GB RAM and 256GB eMMC flash. Apart from the Ethernet connector, which I assume could be removed upon request, the board appears to be designed to be as thin as possible which should make it suitable for projects and products that require high performance in a thin form factor such as robotics, digital signage, virtual reality headsets, etc… Firefly AIO-3588SG specifications: System-on-module – Firefly Core-3588SG with SoC –…

Previously, the u-boot binary files used to chainload u-boot for the amlogic tv boxes were the ones produced by balbes150 in his old tv box builds. There was no source code for them. This commit is the first to convert from those old binary files to newly built ones along with a u-boot patch file and instructions on how to build/rebuild them. Eventually this needs to be incorporated into the build framework to automate it. But for now one step at a time. Changes to be committed: new file: packages/bsp/aml-s9xx-box/boot/build-u-boot/readme.txt new file: packages/bsp/aml-s9xx-box/boot/build-u-boot/u-boot-s905x-s912.patch deleted: packages/bsp/aml-s9xx-box/boot/u-…

Description RK3328 devices often have I2S1 bus available on expansion pins. This PR introduces an overlay to enable the I2S1 bus for Rock Pi E to enable external PCM5102 DAC; I2S1 is shared for internal audio codec and external GPIO pins, so the overlay also disables the internal audio codec. This has been tested and proved to work on Rock Pi E, should work on other boards with similar board wiring setup, but can be also used as a base for other board/DAC combos in the future. Description Please note that this PR does not merge to main, but to another branch for collaboration. This is a continuation of v2: https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/6800 @pyavitz has already done a nice job in v1 and v2 of this PR. Based on this work, I have put a lot of effort in trying to bring this new board family more in line with existing families as well as trying to improve maintainability for the long term. Another concern with v2 was the sheer size of the PR (~55MB which amounts to almost 10% of the repo or ~2.4 million LOC which amounts to over 50% of the current repo). v3 brings down this size considerably, to a more sane number: v2 v3 Shrinkage …
