The LattePanda 3 Delta single board computer with an Intel Celeron N5105 Jasper Lake processor and an Arduino ATmega32U4 Leonardo compatible MCU that initially launched through a Kickstarter campaign in November 2021. The team behind the board has now announced the global availability of the Intel + Arduino SBC on DFRobot starting at $279 plus shipping, which we can compare to the $229 pledge asked during the crowdfunding campaign for reference. LattePanda 3 Delta 864 specifications remain the same also with a few extra details: SoC – Intel Celeron N5105 quad-core Jasper Lake processor @ 2.0GHz / 2.9GHz (Turbo) with Intel UHD graphics 605 @ 450 to 800 MHz; 10W TDP System …

Linux Torvalds has just announced the release of Linux 6.3 on the Linux Kernel Mailing List (LKML): It’s been a calm release this time around, and the last week was really no different. So here we are, right on schedule, with the 6.3 release out and ready for your enjoyment. That doesn’t mean that something nasty couldn’t have been lurking all these weeks, of course, but let’s just take things at face value and hope it all means that everything is fine, and it really was a nice controlled release cycle. It happens. This also obviously means the merge window for 6.4 will open tomorrow. I already have two dozen pull requests waiting for me to start doing my pulls, and I app…

Description We can also use rkvdec2 on rk356x. Remove all non-coherent-dst-bufs patches because they are suggested by a chromium developer when using libyuvimageprocessor to do NV12->AR24 convert. Now we use wayland gbm to render NV12 directly, so these patches are not necessary. Add rkvdec2 nodes to devicetree of rk356x. Enable rkvdec2 in kernel config and change CMA size from 128M to 384M for chromium's 4K h264 decoding. Change hantro g1 vpu compatible string from rockchip,rk3568-vpu to rockchip,rk3328-vpu because they have exactly the same vpu variant data. Disable h264 decoder of rk3328-vpu because there are aleady rkvdec/rkvdec2 h264 decoders on rk3328 and rk356…

Banana Pi’s BPI-PicoW-S3 is a development board following the Raspberry Pi Pico W form factor, but based on Espressif System ESP32-S3 dual-core microcontroller offering both WiFi 4 and Bluetooth LE connectivity. The Raspberry Pi SBCs have inspired many designs, but the Raspberry Pi Pico MCU boards less so. So far, I had only seen the WeAct RP2040 board with the same layout except for a USB Type-C port and a 16MB flash. But the Banana Pi BPI-PicoW-S3 provides a direct alternative to the Raspberry Pi Pico W with a more powerful microcontroller, vector instructions for AI acceleration, BLE, and about the same price at $5.5 plus shipping. Let’s see how the BPI-PicoW-S3 specif…

We’ve previously written about several system-on-modules and SBCs based on Renesas RZ/G2L or RZ/V2L Cortex-A55/M33 processors such as Geniatech “AHAURA” RS-G2L100 and “AKITIO” RS-V2L100 single board computers, Forlinx FET-G2LD-C system-on-module, and SolidRun RZ/G2LC SOM and devkit. But most of those are hard to buy, and you need to contact the company, discuss your project, etc… before purchase, except for the SolidRun Renesas RZ/G2LC Evaluation Kit going for $249. Another option is the MistyWest MistySOM module offered for $112 and up on GroupGets with either Renesas RZ/G2L or RZ/V2L processor, as well as an optional carrier board. This week's work centers on release pipeline modernization, desktop and userland refinements, and board and kernel platform maintenance. On the release and CI side, the build matrix gained codename parameterisation with Ubuntu 26.04 "resolute" set as default, a dedicated Bianbu target, and exposed map overrides, while standard-support targets now include UEFI desktops and a plain cloud variant. The KDE fast-HDMI matrix was switched from kde-neon to kde-plasma, mesa-vpu was dropped from auto-attached extensions, and external CI now skips slots with a warning when upstream sources break. Supporting fixes route forky/loong64 base-files lookups to the main archive and add AI …

If the Raspberry Pi Pico’s 2MB of QSPI flash is not quite sufficient for your needs, and you’d not quite a fan of micro USB ports, the WeAct RP2040 clone comes with up to 16MB flash and a USB Type-C port for power and programming. Another improvement is the addition of a reset button, which can be convenient for flashing UF2 firmware, and the pinout remains the mostly the same. The price is not quite as low as the original Raspberry Pi Pico, but the clone sells for an affordable $5.99 with 2MB flash, while the 16MB flash variant goes for $8.99 with shipping included in both cases. Cheap ELM327 compatible OBD-II Bluetooth adapters that connect to your car for diagnostics and retrieve engine and other data are available all over the Internet. But today, we were reminded that many are fake with a partial implementation or not working at all. Google is allegedly about to release the ADT-4 hybrid developer kit for Android TV based on Amlogic S905X4 processor with AV1 video support, as well as ATSC 3.0 and DVB-S2 tuner. Launched in January 2020, the Google ADT-3 developer box allows developers to test their app on the latest version of the Android TV OS as soon as it is released. But 9to5Google reports the devkit has been out of stock for several months, will be deprecated, and they’ve read some documentation about an ADT-4 Hybrid Developer Kit that should replace it by the end of the year or early next year with digital TV tuners. The documentation is private/confidential, but 9to5Google says the device looks t…

Make the two Y/n questions that firstlogin asks behave consistently with each other, and more in line with user expectation: Reject anything that is not Y, y, N, n or . Previously the "Connect via wireless? [Y/n]" question would interpret Y, y and as "yes", and everything else as "no", whereas the "Set user language based on your location? [Y/n]" question would loop until the user selected Y, y, N or n. Make pressing enter equivalent to the default "Y", since that is the capitalized option. Echo back what the user typed.
