Description Turns out the Khadas u-boot has some code hidden deep within pxe.c file to enable and disable lcd screen. As we don't use extlinux for vim1s and vim4, that doesn't get executed for us leaving the device to detect ghost screens. Hence copied the code to bootscript in order to disable the lcd screens when they are not really present. This makes the vim4 and vim1s a lot more responsive. Also fixes issue where we can't login to gnome because login screen was being rendered on non-existent lcd screen. How Has This Been Tested? Please describe the tests that you ran to verify your changes. Please also note any relevant details for your test configuration. [X] Tes…

Description This pull requests adds a device tree overlay for the Odroid C4 enabling hardware SPI on pins 19, 21, 23 and 24 on the GPIO header. It doesn't require any other changes, except one additional line in the Makefile. Besides, it can replace the old device tree meson-sm1-odroid-c4-spidev.dtb (which activates wrong pins and doesn't work due to this) while offering more flexibility. How Has This Been Tested? The SPI communication has been successfully tested with a LogicPort analyzer and some custom made FPGA board (SPI readout of a Mamamatsu silicon spectrometer). [x] Logic Analyzer: timing of MOSI vs. SCK has been verified, maximum speed is about 12MHz for SCK …

Modernizing SBC Storage: From Qualcomm EDL Flashing to SPI-to-NVMe Boots For years, single-board computer (SBC) storage followed a simple, predictable pattern: flash an image onto a microSD card or eMMC module, plug it in, and turn on the board. However, as modern embedded hardware approaches laptop-grade performance, that legacy approach is starting to break down. The latest quarter of Armbian development highlights a major shift toward modern storage pipelines. By combining Qualcomm Emergency Download (EDL) flashing in Armbian Imager 2.0 with a redesigned installation engine, Armbian is making high-performance hardware far easier to set up. Direct Qualcomm Flashing with…

RK3328 UART1 and I2C0 are available on Orange Pi R1 Plus LTS 13 pin connector. Add device tree overlay files for rk3328 uart1 and i2c0. I have noticed chatter on Github (@rpardini) around dtbo naming conventions. I'm therefore not absolutely clear on what is expected. I've used the rockchip prefix: rockchip-rk3328-i2c0.dtbo rockchip-rk3328-uart1.dtbo And the "Hardware" selection in armbian-config displays them correctly without the prefix. Jira reference number AR-1509 [x] Builds correctly and produces the dtbo's [x] Tested that the "Hardware" can be selected via armbian-…

Hey Karl here. I am going to be sharing my experience with the xTool D1 Pro 20W. It is a 20W laser cutter/engraver with a 340x390mm working area. It has been heavily reviewed and I will comment on a few points I have not seen spoken about. I join a lot of Facebook groups for these reviews to get real-world feedback and ideas to write about. With nearly all forms of digital fabrication, I regularly read about misconceptions and frustration that stem from unknowingly purchasing a machine that requires a substantial amount of time and patience to learn. For this review, I kept a daily log and will summarize the time it took me to complete one project. I did get sidetracked o…

Description stmmac ethernet driver is in use on all rockchip SoCs; its statistics system has been revised on kernel 6.6, but something is not working correctly right now on 32 bit platforms and a lock contemption happens very often when an userland process tries to read the statistics of the ethernet device. One of the most common victim is vnstat daemon, which often gets stuck hogging a cpu core and skyrocketing the average load. This also makes the whole kernel angry, RCU complains, processes hang, and so on... The patch provides a horrible workaround (remove the mutual exclusion in the reader) to fix the problem temporarely. This may break ethernet statistics that ca…
