Description This story with the spidev driver has been going on for quite a long time. Kernel developers do not want this driver to be called by its name spidev. They probably have serious reasons. Starting from kernel version 5.15.1, we will be able to call, load this kernel module only using an alias that should not match the name of this module. This fix allows us to move in line with the upward changes of the kernel and keep our patches of the dtb overlay files in working condition. Please see this page. Description This patch has been mainlined in the kernel for both v6.6.37 and somewhere in v6.9.y branch too.. There are several reports that it broke rk3328 pinctrl and, as the worst side effect, eMMC controller does not work anymore on rk3318/rk3328 (reports on the forums: this, this and this) I identified the single line that is causing the issue; reverting the single change fixes the bad pinctrl behaviour in my case. Description This is a draft/wip for adding https proxy caching. This is especially designed for machines hosting lots of github runners to reduce their bandwidth usage by sacrificing disk space. http caching has been merged already and only needed minor changes. Caching https however is way more complicated. Encryption needs to be broken and rewrapped and then obviously downloads will fail due to cert issues. Classic MITM. So a new certificate authority (CA) needs to be put in place to allow these "fake" certs. Why is this even necessary? Well one major part is downloads from upstream apt repositories. The other major part is downloading 3rd party repositories and artif…

When using directories, the docker images will start generaties files inside these directories, with root privileges. These files cannot be removed by the user, even though he owned the directory. So I decided to use volumes instead, since this alleviate the issue. I'll add a volume management API letter. For the time being, you'll have to rely on docker-compose volume commands to manage them. If BOOT_SCENARIO is not declared it will be only-blobs by default, which will not build tpl/u-boot-tpl.bin and spl/u-boot-spl.bin needed by spi image creating. So it's better to declare BOOT_SCENARIO="tpl-spl-blob" just like rockpro64. I don't have rock4 board so someone has to confirm this fix. How Has This Been Tested? The recently mainlined RTW88 driver for the RTL8723DS does not work at all on the RockPI-S No error messages, but no radio either. The RTW88 driver also blocks the bluetooth radio as well. I'll be working with the RTW88 driver authors get their 8723DS driver working, but, my experience with the RTW88 driver for the USB bus version of this WiFi chip is that it uses significantly more CPU than RTL's driver. To cope with the ever expanding Linux kernel, this patch also includes overriding u-boot's value of fdt_addr_r in the RockPI-s boot.cmd script. Please include a summary of the chan…

Up until now, U-boot would only support the User datagram protocol (UDP) allowing for TFTP and NFS boot, but Linaro has now added support for TCP and HTTP in U-boot in order to boot Linux from common web servers. TFTP boot from U-boot has been supported for years, as around the year 2006 I remember implementing TFTP Linux boot for a Karaoke system in order to lower the BoM cost by selecting a smaller flash device, and I also explained how to boot Linux on a TV box with TFTP back in 2014. This requires installing a TFTP server on your server, which is quite a trivial task, but HTTP servers are omnipresent, so it’s a welcome addition to U-boot. If you want to use HTTP to bo…

Arduino has recently announced the Opta micro PLC with industrial IoT capabilities adding yet another solution to the Arduino Pro family. Arduino used to focus on the hobbyist crowd, but with the launch of the Arduino Pro family in 2020 starting with the Portenta H7 board, the company switched its main focus to the more profitable enterprise market. Since then they’ve launched several other boards designed in-house, and last year started collaborating with the introduction of the Arduino WisGate Edge LoRaWAN gateways based on RAKwireless hardware. The Arduino Opta is another one of those collaborations as it was designed together with Finder, who calls their devices PLR (…

Description The current script can overwrite drivers which are set as built-in in the board-specific config. This is not desirable. Add a check to ensure we do not convert built-in stuff into modules.
