  8. Description The mt7623 family only has one board (BananaPi R2) and has not been properly maintained in many years. Instead of fully removing the family, bump the kernel to 'current' 6.6 since the SoC and also the BananaPi R2 is mainlined and shouldn't cause too many troubles. No need for 'edge' kernel unless someone plans to step in as maintainer who bumps and tests it on every new kernel release. Also: Add armhf support to Trixie (was this disabled for a specific reason? If so, please let me know. It builds fine though) Move the NETWORKING_STACK in main config to after family config to allow the family config to change it. Please note: I do not own the hardware. 9. Description 6.1 vendor kernel is not bootable on opi3b. There is a post in forum: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/36332-orangepi3b-kernel-panic-when-trying-to-boot-with-the-new-vendor-kernel6143/#comment-186436 Opi3b is using mainline uboot for all branches which is not compatibale with vendor kernel's npu, ~so I use radxa's rockchip uboot instead and limit mainline uboot to branch edge~. I find that setting vdd_npu with property regulator-always-on will fix the issue. There is also a missing uwe5622 patch on rk35xx family, which will cause kernel panic of sprdbt_tty kernel module. 11. Description This is a draft/wip for adding https proxy caching. This is especially designed for machines hosting lots of github runners to reduce their bandwidth usage by sacrificing disk space. http caching has been merged already and only needed minor changes. Caching https however is way more complicated. Encryption needs to be broken and rewrapped and then obviously downloads will fail due to cert issues. Classic MITM. So a new certificate authority (CA) needs to be put in place to allow these "fake" certs. Why is this even necessary? Well one major part is downloads from upstream apt repositories. The other major part is downloading 3rd party repositories and artif…

  12. This week's work centers on a comprehensive CI pipeline overhaul, expanded board and SoC support, and notable U-Boot and kernel modernization across Rockchip platforms. A substantial portion of the changes target CI infrastructure hardening in the new os-ci-test repository, including self-contained release handling, GHCR authentication via builtin tokens, watchdog-based auto-retry for stalled runs, proxy normalization, and sane build timeouts (60m packages, 30m/60m images). Related fixes in armbian/actions resolve datacenter runner proxy issues, while a rootfs change strips mmdebstrap's apt proxy from shipped images. 13. Here’s the last part of Khadas VIM4 review with Ubuntu 22.04 “Jammy Jellyfish”. You may want to check out our previous parts with the unboxing and first boot, followed by Android 11 if you haven’t already done so. Ubuntu 22.04 installation on Khadas VIM4 I used the same method of installation with OOWOW firmware that can download the image directly from Khadas server, and install it to the eMMC flash. Since I already had Android 11 running on the board, I had to keep pressing the function key (middle), then shortly press the reset button, before releasing the function key and entering OOWOW interface. From there, I selected Ubuntu 22.04 Gnome, and went ahead with the dow…

The Raspberry Pi SBCs have been in short supply for a couple of years, especially for individual buyers since Raspberry Pi Trading prioritizes commercial customers, but Eben Upton has just announced some good news with over 100,000 boards comprised of a mix of Raspberry Pi Zero W, Pi 3A+, and Raspberry Pi 4 2GB and 4GB variants being made available for single-unit sales through approved resellers. Modular electronic devices have been worked on by several companies over the years, but such endeavors usually result in failure due to costs and other difficulties. Remember Google’s Project Ara? 24. Description The "swapaccount=" option has been deprecated in 6.1. Disable it in almost all boot scripts except "boot-sun50iw9.cmd" since that one is used in sun50iw9 legacy kernel, which is version 4.9. In theory, rk3588-legacy is also still <6.1, but that boot script is also used by 6.1 vendor kernel and the amount of new images being built/used with the 5.10 legacy kernel is likely minimal. As far as I know, bootscript won't update automatically, so these changes will only apply to freshly built images. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Corsair MP600 Mini is a high-performance M.2 2230 SSD based on the Phison E21T controller that delivers up to 4800MB/s sequential read and write performance and designed to be used in Valve’s Steam Deck, Microsoft’s Surface Pro 8 and 9, and other products that won’t take a M.2 2280 SSD. We are seeing more and more single board computers and other electronics products use M.2 sockets for storage, but the smaller boards won’t take the traditional M.2 2280 SSDs that usually deliver better performance than smaller M.2 2230/2242/2260 drives, and so performance may be impacted on this type of hardware. Open AI Lab EAIDK-610 is an embedded AI development kit powered by a Rockchip RK3399 processor, recently added to Linux 6.1 and described as “popularly used by university students” in the kernel changelog. Teledyne e2v Hydra3D+ is a high-resolution Time-of-Flight (ToF) CMOS image sensor with 832 x 600 resolution, designed for 3D detection and measurement, and that can operate in real-time without motion artifacts. The first ToF sensor I used was an STMicro VL53L0X ranging sensor that could measure distances accurately and quickly up to 2 meters away, then the company started to launch multi-zone ToF ranging sensors such as the VL53 that enabled new features such as touch-to-focus, multiple-target identification, flash dimming, or video tracking assistance, and one variant used for human detection. But the 832×600 resolution of Hyrdra3D+ brings even more interesting use case…

  62. Description Fix Type-C DP altmode on some rk3399 boards. Currently only on rockchip64-6.15. The old implementation is tricky, and only works in normal orientation. If the plug is flipped, there will be only USB2.0 connectivity. With the proposed changes, the type-c ports on related rk3399 boards should work in both orientations. A few patches from Megous are picked(some of them already present in sunxi64 kernel patches). The tricky part is how to notify rk3399 cdn-dp driver about DP HPD(hot plug detection), and a workaround is written. A caveat is that the c port has to be OTG mode, otherwise it will behave very similar to the old implementation if DP is enabled. I'm …

Arm has unveiled the new Immortalis family of flagship GPUs with support for hardware-based ray tracing starting with the Immortalis-G715 GPU, as well as two new premium Mali GPUs namely Arm Mali-G615 and Mali-G715. This will be mostly used in games to generate realistic lighting and shadows as can be seen in the “before vs after” video demo below. While hardware-based ray tracing is only available on the Imm…

Wed have a couple of small things that Thorsten was tracking on the regression side, but I wasn’t going to apply any last-minute patches that weren’t actively pushed by maintainers, so they will have to show up for stable.
