squash some warnings (found during all-artifacts+all-images builds on CI) When building "all" the things, these kind of innofensive WARNs pile up. Clean them up a bit. Raises the estimate of 2000MiB to 2300MiB for CLI images. This was determined empirically. binfmts: don't raise warning if qemu-arm failed to load under aarch64 (some are native, some are emulated, all are good) reported by @igorpecovnik on Discord, during massive CI build, when armhf builds landed on arm64 builders logging: squash undue warnings rootfs/aptcache rootfs is built with BOARD= so just live with it (idea about this warn was that families might hook rootfs build process) count, instead of…

Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced the ULC1001 digital signal processor (DSP) ultrasonic lens cleaning (ULC) technology designed – when combined with DRV2901 piezo transducer driver – for self-cleaning camera systems to quickly detect and remove dirt, ice, and water using microscopic vibrations. Cameras used in the automotive, industrial, robotics, and smart farming industries may require cleaning from time to time and that usually means manual cleaning leading to potential downtime, higher maintenance cost, and so on. It could also be done through mechanical parts but that adds further complexity to the system, so instead, Texas Instruments ULC1001 and DRV2901 combo e…

Description Fix incorrect data read sometimes in last 4kb of compressed files on btrfs. In my case only last 2560 bytes of dtb file was broken, so the only issue was warnings in dmesg on boot. Well, last 2560 of vmlinuz was also broken, but fortunately there was only '\0' bytes, so system was functional and this problem was unnoticed. include (clean/real) apt lists and xapian cache in built images (not in rootfs cache) include (clean/real) apt lists in built images; update xapian index during image build, not rootfs; don't leave junk in the rootfs cache revert #5139 Revert "Apt lists is needed for synpatic index generation" - This reverts commit 63e9bd3baad4f6faa8e6e6f6c82e46716b89acf7 - this actually only left junk in rootfs cache for the future to find Now when building images, at the end: Notice how "53" lists where copied (from host-side cache) into the image, and then updated & cleaned, resulting in "32" lists at the end. This is a clean, junk-free, and updated apt lists. On top of…

Description Removed lcd node when screen is not attached. Turns out the Khadas u-boot has some code hidden deep within pxe.c file to enable and disable lcd screen. As we don't use extlinux for vim1s and vim4, that doesn't get executed for us leaving the device to detect ghost screens. Hence copied the code to bootscript in order to disable the lcd screens when they are not really present. This makes the vim4 and vim1s a lot more responsive. Also fixes issue where we can't login to gnome because login screen was being rendered on non-existent lcd screen. Fixed issue that prevented armbian-bsp-cli package for meson-s4t7 family to uninstall because of the added /etc/initram…

Description Refresh kernel config to match fenix 1.6.4. This enables CONFIG_W1_SLAVE_THERM which was enabled on fenix as well. On bookworm, and also possibly on newer version of ubuntu, systemd starts all of the services present on first boot. Making the /etc/machine-id file empty ensures that machine id is still initialized on first-boot, while other services are not started automatically. This also seems to be observed by alex3d as well as reported in #6264 . However I was not able to reproduce the same issue on any of the other boards I have. Hence I have currently only handled it for meson-s4t7 family. This also makes the previous hack of masking chrony-wait.service …

Everactive has launched a batteryless IoT devkit to let engineers evaluate its ultra-low-power energy harvesting solution and the Evernet wireless protocol for the “Hyperscale” Internet of Things. The kit is comprised of two environment sensors (ENV+ Eversensor) with a low-light photovoltaic harvester, one USB Evergateway, and an unlimited number of accounts to the Everactive developer console for data visualization. The ENV+ Eversensor features temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors, as well as a 3-axis accelerometer, supports the Evernet IoT protocol, and instead of using a battery for power, the device relies on a photovoltaic cell that provides enough energy for …

Light sensors are used to turn on/off lights, adjust the brightness of displays, and more. But I’ve come across a use case I never thought of: object presence detection. In the digital signage work, such features if called “lift and learn”, and light sensors are used to detect when an object is present and play a video or display information about the product. That concept came to my attention when I saw a photo of Mekotronics R29 digital signage player with several cables coming out of the device and attached to what looked like white hockey pucks and turned out to be light sensors. Apart from the light sensors, Mekotronics R29 specifications are pretty standard: SoC – R…

Commit c90986492252a85db3357362594e5c40b80fbf95 removed a prompt asking the user if they want to change display settings, but didn't remove the checks that later used the answer. Since it's been like this for 2 years now apparently without issue, remove the checks and the shellcheck workaround. View the full article
