Description These two kernel features are required for the serial console to be usable in early userspace of an Allwinner H6 based board - ie, the init process. The debian initramfs loads these modules which is fine when things go well, but you won't get any logs from the init script which is problematic for debugging and/or customizing it. This made debugging very challenging as I had no way to get output from the board after the kernel had handed control to init. After this change, the serial console is available and functional by the time init runs, and any logs from init will be output as expected. Note: I've put these changes into the "next" config, but my testing…

A few years ago I reviewed the ICE Tower CPU cooling fan for Raspberry Pi 4 which is an oversized heatsink with a cooling fan and some RGB LEDs that obviously does its job at cooling the board, but the main benefit is really its aesthetics. 52Pi has now designed another ICE Tower cooling fan for the Orange Pi 5 SBC, and the new Orange Pi 5B, with the same concept except for its low-profile design. It’s probably not needed for the Orange Pi 5 which should do fine with a heatsink, but it may help for the Orange Pi 5B due to the extra heat from the WiFi 6 module. A company representative for 52Pi told us that: I have seen this Orange Pi 5B motherboard posted on your site, th…

Copied from #4255 by @hzyitc - added shellfmt and .editorconfig for consistency Description I notice that the first commit of armbian-next contains too many things (armbian-next: huge refactor, shellfmt, codesplit, logging/error handling). It's really hard to find out what changes we do, because we both split /lib/*.sh and change the code in one commit. It will loss the association between master and armbian-next. This PR is just split /lib/*.sh without changing any codes (except the first commit and the remove of source in /lib/main.sh). So users can find out where the codes come and then following the original commit log. If we want to merge armbian-next, this PR ca…

Description The mt7623 family only has one board (BananaPi R2) and has not been properly maintained in many years. Instead of fully removing the family, bump the kernel to 'current' 6.6 since the SoC and also the BananaPi R2 is mainlined and shouldn't cause too many troubles. No need for 'edge' kernel unless someone plans to step in as maintainer who bumps and tests it on every new kernel release. Also: Add armhf support to Trixie (was this disabled for a specific reason? If so, please let me know. It builds fine though) Move the NETWORKING_STACK in main config to after family config to allow the family config to change it. Please note: I do not own the hardware. Description As long as the rockchip-inno-usb3 phy driver has been removed from current kernel, remove it from edge kernel as well. This affects only rk3328 devices, but so far none of them has enabled the driver except roc-pc and station-m1; station-m1 dts file has been removed since it does not appear in CURRENT kernel patch directory, roc-pc device tree has been adapted. So far I tested the phy driver a bit going into the OTG journey. It turned out that does not work at all with the dwc3 USB3 core driver; The phy driver presence is somewhat necessary to attach the proper OTG vbus regulator for OTG function, thus removing the driver will probably hinder future OTG func…

Description This set of changes tries to handle the requirement of reducing cache misses by removing the REVISION prefix from the tag of the OCI cache. It works by making use of a tag that doesn't include the version prefix. Once the artifact is fetched, if the filename is not what we expect, then the file is renamed to the expected file name. This can be required in cases when REVISION is bumped but no changes are done for the artifact. In that case, for example, we might be looking for a artifact with version 23.08.1-trunk prefix while the artifact thats available and is identical to the needed artifact might have version starting with 23.08.0-trunk. Only the OCI tags …

In the conclusion of our SenseCAP K1100 Sensor Prototype kit review with LoRaWAN and Vision AI, the author suggested that it would be great if SeeedStudio could develop a new firmware that can connect without coding instead of using Arduino programming: I had to rely on my knowledge and experience with LoRaWAN to transmit data wirelessly over long distances. That’s because LoRaWAN has a more complicated connection process than Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Linus Torvalds announced the release of Linux 6.1, an LTS kernel, last Sunday: So here we are, a week late, but last week was nice and slow, and I’m much happier about the state of 6.1 than I was a couple of weeks ago when things didn’t seem to be slowing down. Of course, that means that now we have the merge window from hell, just before the holidays, with me having some pre-holiday travel coming up too. So while delaying things for a week was the right thing to do, it does make the timing for the 6.2 merge window awkward. That said, I’m happy to report that people seem to have taken that to heart, and I already have two dozen pull requests pending for tomorrow in my inb…

Description Bumping Khadas vim1s and vim4 kernel to 5.15. This seems to resolve the display issue on cinnamon, but this seems to have the same edid parsing based monitor filtering and hence some monitors are back to not working. I am working on figuring that out and will raise a separate PR for that later. This also solves the issue where disconnecting wifi was raising kernel oops How Has This Been Tested? Please describe the tests that you ran to verify your changes. Please also note any relevant details for your test configuration. This week's cycle emphasizes broad U-Boot modernization, new board and SoC enablement, and kernel and wireless driver consolidation. A large-scale U-Boot bump moves sunxi 32-bit and 64-bit targets from v2024.01 to v2026.07-rc4, with follow-on updates for self-pinned H616/H618 boards (Zero2W, Zero3, Longan Pi 3H), Mixtile Edge2, NanoPi R5S (now patch-less), and the Youyeetoo YY3588 switching to mainline v2026.04. The imx6 line (UDOO, Cubox-i) was modernized to U-Boot v2026.07 with legacy 6.12, current 6.18, and edge 7.1 kernels. Related toolchain work fixes ODROID-C1, ODROID-XU4, Recore, and X96Q builds under Trixie's GCC 14, and resolves errexit failures on Rockchip SPI b…

KOKONI SOTA 3D printer with an inverted design (the printing head is under the hotbed) that supports printing speeds of up to 600mm/s, as well as 7-color printing through a filament tower adding support for 5 extra filament rolls. The upside-down design was made to move motors and rails to the bottom base of the printer to lower the center of gravity and help improve stability, reduce the vibration to virtually nothing, and enable the faster printing speed. KOKONI also says the SOTA 3D printer offers 0.1mm accuracy thanks to AI radar detection and error compensation and operates relatively silently at 30dB one meter from the 3D printer. KOKONI SOTA specifications: Printin…

The Raspberry Pi SBCs have been in short supply for a couple of years, especially for individual buyers since Raspberry Pi Trading prioritizes commercial customers, but Eben Upton has just announced some good news with over 100,000 boards comprised of a mix of Raspberry Pi Zero W, Pi 3A+, and Raspberry Pi 4 2GB and 4GB variants being made available for single-unit sales through approved resellers. Eben however notes there’s more to do, and recommends buying from an approved reseller to get the boards at the recommended retail price (RRP), checking rpilocator to check for availability, and potentially considering switching to the Raspberry Pi Pico or Pico W if the project …

This week's work centers on board support expansion, kernel and U-Boot maintenance, and desktop and CI tooling refinements. On the platform side, the Radxa Cubie A5E received Wi-Fi enablement and a kernel refresh as part of a broader update, while the youyeetoo YY3588 was promoted from CSC to standard support and the YY3568 gained PCIe NVMe functionality. The NanoPi R76S and Rock 5 ITX were both migrated to mainline U-Boot v2026.04, dropping vendor-branch gates, and the Vanxoak HD-RK3506-EVB was added with vendor and board imagery. Kernel hygiene dominated the maintenance work: duplicate OPP labels on the Xiaoxin Pad Pro (sm8250) were corrected, broken UHS-I, xo-clock, SD…

This week's work centers on release pipeline modernization, desktop and userland refinements, and board and kernel platform maintenance. On the release and CI side, the build matrix gained codename parameterisation with Ubuntu 26.04 "resolute" set as default, a dedicated Bianbu target, and exposed map overrides, while standard-support targets now include UEFI desktops and a plain cloud variant. The KDE fast-HDMI matrix was switched from kde-neon to kde-plasma, mesa-vpu was dropped from auto-attached extensions, and external CI now skips slots with a warning when upstream sources break. Supporting fixes route forky/loong64 base-files lookups to the main archive and add AI …
