Description This fixes reboot on Odroid C4 boards which boot from UHS microSD cards. The issue has been discussed before here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/19340-odroid-c4-will-not-reboot-after-any-sort-of-kernel-update-have-tried-running-nand-sata-install/ A previous pull request removed a version of this patch here: https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/3154/files#diff-8530e3af79cd8a35329d7d1a44b2a8006ad0cd70deefb0341a9933233673a9b6 The previous version of the patch was broken by upstream changes in the kernel, and this commit contains the minimal changes needed to fix it. Standard PSCI reset functions are now called in mainline, so the patch has been updated to re…

Description The lm75 sensor was defined in the dts as "onnn,lm75". Set it to "national,lm75" as is set in the upstream dts. (there is no such thing as "onnn,lm75"). Later on (or maybe I should include it there) we should remove the lm75 module from MODULES and MODULES8lEGACY in config/boards/helios64.csc, as the DTS already loads it. (which makes me think "onnn,lm75" as a DTS node never was recognized by a kernel, thus the need to explicitly load lm75). How Has This Been Tested? [x] remove lm57 from the config (I believe it was /etc/modules but is long gone) and reboot with new dts Checklist: [x] My code follows the style guidelines of this project [x] I have perform…

Seeed Studio is now selling the “A203 Mini PC” industrial Linux mini PC based on an NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX module with 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD loaded with JetPack 5.0.2 (Ubuntu 20.04). If the name is familiar it’s because it is based on the Leetop A203 carrier board introduced about a year ago, with HDMI, two USB 3.0 ports, RS232, and other I/Os. The mini PC also offers Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity, and is designed to operate in the -20°C to 80°C temperature range for embedded, industrial, and functional safety applications. Rockchip RK3588M is an automotive-grade variant of the Rockchip RK3588 octa-core Cortex-A76/A55 SoC that supports at least 6 Full HD displays and 16 camera inputs and can simultaneously run the car dashboard, in-vehicle infotainment, a digital rearview mirror, headrest monitors, ADAS system, and more. The frequency of the Cortex-A76 cores is limited to 2.1 GHz, and the Cortex-A55 cores to 1.7 GHz, against 2.4 and 1.8 GHz for RK3588, probably to operate in a larger temperature range required by the automotive market. I could not find any RK3588M datasheet yet, but we can find more details through the Firefly AIO-3588MQ automotive mainboard built around the RK3588M processo…

Description Added the necessary parts to create linux-libc-dev packages when creating armbian images. This functionality was not added to the new build system but worked just fine up until v23.02. In my opinion linux-libc-dev should always be created when building an armbian kernel as the kernel versions often differ greatly from the ones natively in the distros (eg. debian bookworm: 6.1.76 vs. armbian current 6.6.21). Also the armbian package source previously included the package but does not anymore, so the latest updates available were 23.02.2. See also https://forum.armbian.com/topic/36140-linux-libc-dev-packages-not-available-after-2302/#comment-184962 How Has T…

Rockchip RK3568-powered NanoPi R5S router has gotten a direct competitor courtesy of FastRhino R68s with the same processor, but more memory up to 4GB RAM, two 2.5GbE ports, and two Gigabit Ethernet ports (or one extra compared to R5S), and two USB 3.0 ports. FastRhino R68s is purely a router in the traditional sense, and you don’t get an HDMI port acting as a display interface or an M.2 NVMe socket to add extra storage as found in NanoPi R5S. The plastic enclosure used with R68s will not be able to cool the Rockchip RK3568 as well as the metal enclosure of the FriendlyElec device, but there are plenty of ventilation holes so that may be sufficient. FastRhino R68s specifi…

FriendlyElec has just launched the NanoPi R5S mini router powered by a Rockchip RK3568 processor, and the company kindly sent me two samples for review. In the first part of the review, I’ll check out the device itself, the internal design, the preinstalled OpenWrt, and run some networking benchmarks with iperf3. NanoPi R5S unboxing The router comes fully assembled together with a 3M sheet with 6 rubber feet, which, as we’ll see below, are not really necessary. A microSD card socket can be found on one of the sides, while the rear panel comes with a USB-C port for power, a WiFi antenna hole (which can also be used to run cables for GPIO. UART console, etc…), two 2.5GbE …

The USB Promoter Group has just pushed a press release about the “pending release” of the USB4 Version 2.0 specification that promises up to 80 Gbps of data performance over the USB Type-C cable and connector. The group also explains both the USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery (USB PD) specifications will also be updated, and everything will be published right before the USB DevDays developer events planned for November 2022 in the US and South Korea. So that’s basically an announcement about a future announcement, but we were still provided with some highlights of the upcoming USB4 v2 specification: Up to 80 Gbps operation based on a new physical layer architecture, using…

I’ve just repurposed an empty XYLITOL gum bottle into a DIY camera mount for the Raspberry Pi Camera Module with privacy mode to boot… In order to avoid confusion, while Xylitol is a chemical compound, it’s also a Japanese brand of chewing gums that is sold in Thailand and other countries. I’m specifically talking about the latter in this post. Raspberry Pi Trading has just sent me a bunch of Raspberry Pi Camera Modules 3 for review, and since I don’t have any camera mount I initially thought maybe I’ll laser cut some mount or use some LEGOs as I did with the e-CAM20_CURB camera for Raspberry Pi 4. But then I saw some empty XYLITOL gum bottles, noticed the cap would open …

Description Various minor fixes to rockchip rk3318/rk322x based tv boxes: usb ports gain resets in uboot and kernel, so hopefully they gains some more compatibility and/or less hangups rk3318-box now uses the ddrbin from vendor; it was accidentally switched to uboot TPL during last uboot update some patches have been removed because useless or because things could merged into board dtbs Except for a change in dwc2.c driver in rockchip 32 bit (that may have an effect on OTG port on ASUS Tinkerboard, which is usually unused due to being the power connector), no other boards are affected by these changes. It looks like that USB resets,at least on rk3318/rk3328, are good …
