Nicolai Electronics’ rp2040-ic2-interface open-source firmware for the Raspberry Pi Pico (or other Raspberry Pi RP2040 boards) converts the board into an I2C to USB bridge to connect any I2C sensor or module to a PC or other hardware without GPIOs. The firmware implements the USB protocol expected by the I2C-Tiny-USB kernel driver used by the original I2C-Tiny-USB project for Microchip ATMega 8-bit AVR microcontrollers. The RP2040 is however not a fork of the original project, but instead a complete re-implementation of the firmware. You’ll need to connect your I2C sensor, display, or another module to the SDA (GPIO 2) and SCL (GPIO 3) pins of the Raspberry Pi RP2040 micr…

artifacts: introduce calculate_hash_for_variables() which normalizes the input; use in kernel/uboot/etc Does not look like it, but this is a bugfix -- UBOOT_TARGET_MAP might contain $SRC (due to BL31=, etc) and that is hashed into something only ever matches by accident Also fixes artifact-armbian-desktop vs appgroups/config_base differences some hashed variables might contain "${SRC}", so hashes never match, unless built in Docker - this strips away SRC from all vars and adds debugging so we can detect more later. artifact-uboot: include more variables into hash, for ATF & rk stuff artifact-armbian-desktop: - hashed vars actually contain /armbian in different…

Geehy APM32F103 is a clone of STMicro STM32F103 MCU that has been tested by at least one person who claims it was just a drop-in replacement and PCB, code, hex, testing, and production did not have to be changed at all. Most STM32 microcontrollers are in short supply with 52+ weeks lead times and prices going through the roof, so people may be looking into the long list STM32 clones and fakes including APM32F103. They all claim to be pin-to-pin and firmware compatible, but when theory meets reality, things may go wrong. For instance, last year I had a conversation with one person who switched to GD32 microcontroller and had all sorts of issues (translated from French): I …

A couple of months ago, we wrote about the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3E (CM3E) equipped with the Raspberry Pi RP3A0 SiP found in the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W board. It looks like an OEM product from Raspberry Pi trading, and as such is close to impossible to purchase. But if somehow, you’d like to have the guts of the Pi Zero 2 W into CM3 module form factor, Waveshare has designed the Zero-to-CM3 adapter for the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W that should be compatible with most carrier boards designed for Raspberry Pi CM3 or CM3+. As you can see, it is also using pogo pins to connect to the test points on the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W board in order to route the USB, USB OTG, and SD ca…

Description The issue When using ./compile.sh rewrite-kernel-config and then running the menuconfig with ./compile.sh kernel-config, just exiting and saving without any manual changes, the kernel config may still change. This is because rewrite-kernel-config does force some kernel options without any additional checks e.g. for dependencies. Using the config menu with kernel-config does those checks automatically and solves all dependencies. Example: Using ./compile.sh kernel-config on linux-rockchip64-edge.config (e.g. with BOARD=nanopi-r5c), the option CONFIG_DEBUG_KERNEL=y is automatically selected, since it is a dependency for CONFIG_EXPERT=y, which is selected in thi…

Description Reverse commit 75317a0 since this is a special case. Eliminate the real reason for the inability to boot the kernel. Linux kernel hangs in early boot on 32-bit ARM platform, when ftrace 4-byte "mcount" function call location for "_raw_spin_unlock_irqrestore" function straddles icache lines. The problem is present for (cross-compiler) GCC 10, 11, 12. It does not happen when the kernel is compiled with GCC 9, even when condition (1) is satisfied. The first quarter of 2026 has been a period of significant technical consolidation for the Armbian project. Driven by the v26.02 (Goa) release cycle, the project has focused on three core pillars: aggressive framework refactoring, the stable rollout of the Linux 6.18 LTS kernel, and the maturation of the Armbian Imager utility. Core Framework RefactoringA primary objective this quarter was the reduction of technical debt within the armbian/build repository. The development team initiated a systematic cleanup to improve build reliability and maintenance. Toolchain Optimization: Through a series of pull requests, including #9218, #9252, and #9256, significant "dead code" wa…

Description The type names will cause build problem in focal (use sfdisk v2.34) and bullseye (use sfdisk v2.36) The partition type is given in hex for MBR (DOS) where 0x prefix is optional; a GUID string for GPT; a shortcut or an alias. It’s recommended to use two letters for MBR hex codes to avoid collision between deprecated shortcut 'E' and '0E' MBR hex code. For backward compatibility sfdisk tries to interpret type as a shortcut as a first possibility in partitioning scripts although on other places (e.g. --part-type command) it tries shortcuts as the last possibility. Since v2.36 libfdisk supports partition type aliases as extension to shortcuts. The alias is a si…

Description This set of changes tries to handle the requirement of reducing cache misses by removing the REVISION prefix from the tag of the OCI cache. It works by making use of a tag that doesn't include the version prefix. Once the artifact is fetched, if the filename is not what we expect, then the file is renamed to the expected file name. This can be required in cases when REVISION is bumped but no changes are done for the artifact. In that case, for example, we might be looking for a artifact with version 23.08.1-trunk prefix while the artifact thats available and is identical to the needed artifact might have version starting with 23.08.0-trunk. Only the OCI tags …
