Description This PR adds a board config file for RPi 5. While on it, the PR also removes dependency on flash-kernel. Instead some custom scripts are added into the bsp package for installation of updated dtb, kernel and initrd files. Using both rpi4b and rpi5b will produce images compatible with rpi5, but the image created with BOARD=rpi5b will not run on older hardware. The kernel config, patches etc are shared between both boards. To prevent creating new family for RPI5 specific kernel, I have added support for something I call kernel variants. This is basically going to be almost same kernel with extremely small changes that doesn't justify creating new family and yet …

Description rk322x has long been integrated into the rockchip family in this PR: https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/6092 Remove some leftovers in the repo, like the old kernel patch folders which are not in use anymore. @paolosabatino You may have a look at the hardware-optimization script. The tweaks for rk322x do not apply since the BOARDFAMILY does not exist anymore. LILYGO must be churning out at least one new “ESP32” board every month, but I don’t think they’ve ever made one with ESP32-S3. LILYGO T-QT V1.1 board changes that and combines the dual-core WiFi 4 and Bluetooth LE 5.0 AI microcontroller with a 0.85-inch color display. The board also happens to be rather small and cute with a 33 x 18 mm form factor, offers some I/O via headers and a 4-pin connector, and can be powered via its USB Type-C port or a battery, but lacks a charging circuit. LILYGO T-QT V1.1 specifications: Wireless MCU – Espressif Systems ESP32-S3 dual-core Tensilica LX7 @ up to 240 MHz with vector instructions for AI acceleration, 512KB RAM, wireless connectivi…

The company also says it can be charged through USB, so the board must include a battery charging circuit contrary to some other boards from LILYGO. Description Setting the display mode in armbianEnv.txt no longer worked, probably because it used an old, sunxi-specific interface. See the commit message (also shown below) for details about this. I'm marking this as draft, because: I'm not sure if we should reuse the disp_mode variable, or maybe use a different name (video_mode?) to make it clearer that the values it accepts are of a slightly different format (would also help to see that older documentation does not apply to this option). This fixes just sunxi, which I've been able to test only on a single board (Orange Pi PC). I'm not sure if similar changes are needed elsewhere (see last point in commit message). …

Without this, when mkimage fails (for example because the boot partition is too small), install.log shows an error like: mkimage: Write only 16310208/17794920 bytes, probably no space left on the device But this does not terminate the build, so the compile script shows no error and an image is generated, but it is unbootable. Testing TS2 laser engraver assembly Before doing some engravings and cuts, we’ll have to test the TS2 to make sure it was properly assembled and we can operate it normally. Dear Armbian Community, It’s been an eventful two weeks since our last point release of 2023. Despite facing some challenges, we’ve been hard at work ensuring the continued excellence of Armbian. Point Release Recap Unfortunately, we encountered unexpected issues since our release. A batch of images was accidentally deleted, requiring a complete restart of the generation process. Additionally, our main rsync server experienced IPv6 connectivity issues, resulting in delays in mirror synchronization for several days. However, we’ve successfully generated our first set of images, now available by checking out the builds script to v23.11. Enhanced Support Policies To strea…

Ethernet is supposedly broken by design. While Xunlong is working on a hw revision of this board it is to be expected that it will be released under the same name which will then ultimately contribute to users confusion why on some boards eth works and on others not. Therefore get rid of this one altogether. https://github.com/armbian/build/issues/6587 View the full article

Description packages/extras-buildpkgs was a leftover from years ago and is not used in the build framework anymore. See https://github.com/armbian/build/issues/6820#issuecomment-2198054353 With it, remove some references for hostapd and htop. The htop customization in the firstrun script is incompatible with the new versions and throws errors in the firstrun service (see the systemd status of this service after it ran).
