Description Fix incorrect data read sometimes in last 4kb of compressed files on btrfs. In my case only last 2560 bytes of dtb file was broken, so the only issue was warnings in dmesg on boot. Well, last 2560 of vmlinuz was also broken, but fortunately there was only '\0' bytes, so system was functional and this problem was unnoticed. Arduino boards have traditionally been programmed with C-like language in the Arduino IDE, but with the Arduino Lab for MicroPython, Arduino added MicroPython to several official Arduino boards. In the words of the Arduino Team, “not an official product yet, an experimental tool”, but I would not be surprised if it becomes an official IDE eventually as the company collaborated with Damien George, the creator of MicroPython, to port the official the virtual machine to a number of Arduino products, and Murilo Polese to develop the Arduino Lab for MicroPython cross-platform IDE for MicroPython. The IDE looks familiar… Oh yes, I see it now, it’s basically the Arduino IDE, b…

This week's cycle emphasizes broad U-Boot modernization, new board and SoC enablement, and kernel and wireless driver consolidation. A large-scale U-Boot bump moves sunxi 32-bit and 64-bit targets from v2024.01 to v2026.07-rc4, with follow-on updates for self-pinned H616/H618 boards (Zero2W, Zero3, Longan Pi 3H), Mixtile Edge2, NanoPi R5S (now patch-less), and the Youyeetoo YY3588 switching to mainline v2026.04. The imx6 line (UDOO, Cubox-i) was modernized to U-Boot v2026.07 with legacy 6.12, current 6.18, and edge 7.1 kernels. Related toolchain work fixes ODROID-C1, ODROID-XU4, Recore, and X96Q builds under Trixie's GCC 14, and resolves errexit failures on Rockchip SPI b…

Since you can’t always rely on single board computer (SBC) vendors to provide a case to match your needs, some went the DIY route. William Tarreau designed some laser-cut enclosures with Inkscape for various SBCs, while hominoids went a step further by developing the “SBC Case Builder” tool to automatically generate various types of 3D printable enclosures using OpenSCAD. William designed five similar enclosures for Khadas VIM3/VIM3L, FriendlyELEC NanoPi Fire3, SolidRun Clearfog Base networking SBC, Libre Computer AML-S805X-AC (aka “La Frite”), and AAEON UP Board. All cases are available in Inkscape SVG format, and William accepts contributions for other boards. You’ll ne…

Hey Karl here. The timing couldn’t have been more opportune when I was asked to review the TerraMaster F4-423 4-bay NAS. Let me explain why. I run Unraid as my OS of choice for my home lab. I have found it easy to maintain and hard to break. My old rig had a 3900X with 3 cores, 6 threads dedicated to docker containers, and the remaining cores running VM’s. It has been a fun and learning experience. I have run it with several different VM configurations over the past few years. The majority of the time I ran 2 VM’s. One personal and one work and I would RDP over to the work VM. If I wanted to game I had a third gaming VM and allocated all resources to it. It’s not super co…

The rest of the board, also called Banana Pi Pico, is exactly the same up to the through holes and castellated holes for the I/Os, and has a similar form factor as the Banana Pi BPI-PicoW-S3 that adds WiFi and Bluetooth through the ESP32-S3 wireless microcontroller. Banana Pi BPI-Pico-RP2040 specifications: MCU – Raspberry Pi RP2040 dual-core Cortex-M0+ microcontroller @ up to 133 MHz with 264KB SRAM Storage – 2MB QSPI flash USB – 1x USB 1.1 Type-C port used for…

Aspinity AB2 AML100 is an Arduino Shield based on the company’s AML100 analog machine learning processor that reduces power consumption by 95 percent compared to equivalent digital ML processors, and the shield works with Renesas Quick-Connect IoT platform or other development platforms with Arduino Uno Rev3 headers. The AML100 analog machine learning processor is said to consume just 15µA for sensor interfacing, signal processing, and decision-making and operates completely within the analog domain offloading most of the work from the microcontroller side that can stay its lowest power state until an event/anomaly is detected. Aspinity AB2 AML100 Arduino Shield specifica…

code_saturne is a free, open-source computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software developed primarily by EDF that can be useful to check and optimize the thermal design of your projects. From time to time, we come across hardware platforms that do not perform to their best due to overheating leading to CPU throttling, and over time it may also impact the lifetime of the device. I’ve heard about computational fluid dynamics (CFD) before, but I always assumed the software was prohibitively expensive and Formula 1 even has a cost cap for CFD testing. But it turns out there’s an open-source program to do just that: code_saturne. As a utility company, EDF designed the software t…

Description The idea is to generate output/git_sources.json file that will contain url, branch and commit hash combo. The easiest way to generate file for all devices is to run ./compile.sh targets. Then at the time of release we will copy the output/git_sources.json file to config/sources/git_sources.json. Once the file is copied, the hash information from the file will be used to fetch resources for git repositories where branches are specified instead of tags or commits. There can be other ways to do this as well. I am just too tired to experiment more on the same. Raising it to be a communication starter. I have also added the json file that I have generated today. …

Description Fix uboot booting from zstd compressed BTRFS. uboot logs before fix: Found U-Boot script /boot/boot.scr ZSTD_decompressStream error 7 3252 bytes read in 41 ms (77.1 KiB/s) ... SCRIPT FAILED: continuing... Error 7 means "frame parameter window too large". It looks like uboot's max window size specification on decompressor init is totally wrong (compressed data size is used as max window size). Zstd default max window size is 128MB, but I'm unsure is it good idea to malloc 128MB in uboot on each BTRFS extent decompression. So I have capped minimum window size to 128KB - it should be sufficient for BTRFS as max compressed extent size is 128KB. How Has This Be…

Description Bumping U-boot to 2024.01-rc5 for Allwinner boards. There were some defconfig patches that were failing, I have migrated them to board config file using post_uboot_config_target hook function. This has resulted into removal of several patches. There are still some defconfig patches left, I will move them as and when needed. Apart from that, updated crust support patches for Allwinner H3 as few of them had patch application failure. As U-boot now has AXP313 support, I have removed the patch for the same and have migrated Bigtreetech to use the upstream driver. How Has This Been Tested? Please describe the tests that you ran to verify your changes. Please also …
