  2. Description station-p2 cannot start up properly. This is an interesting thing. Device tree name for station-p2: rk3568-firefly-roc-pc, derived from the previous media kernel family: https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/v24.05/patch/kernel/media-current/00170-v95-rk3568-firefly-roc-pc.patch But its name in the mainline kernel is: rk3568-roc-pc. But there has been an interesting change in this modification, and I am doubting whether this change is wise: https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/eb60d33abac91b25eb720bae27981a2a8950f9f7 I borrowed a station-p2 from my friend to fix this issue. 6. We’ve already checked out Cytron’s CM4 Maker Board kit with a Raspberry Pi CM4 system-on-module and booted the system with the included 32GB “MAKERDISK” Class 10 microSD card preloaded Raspberry Pi OS in the first part of the review. For the second part of the CM4 Maker review, I’ve mostly used the 128GB NVMe SSD provided by the company and played with other features of the board including the RTC, the buzzer, some Seeed Studio grove modules, and even got help from ChatGPT for one of the Python programs I used. Booting Cytron CM4 Maker Board with the “MAKERDISK” NVMe SSD I connected several Grove modules with GPIO and I2C interfaces, a Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3, an Eth…

  10. Description Orange Pi 4 and Orange Pi 4 LTS were the last boards using staging USB3 Type-C controller. This PR moves both of them to use mainline driver, so staging driver can be removed from patchset (as suggested by @Tonymac32 here: https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/3953#issuecomment-1172962963) Most of the changes have been adapted upon the same nodes from tinkerboard 2 device tree and GPIOs have been adjusted. Since both opi4 and opi4 LTS share the same hardware, I felt it could be useful to change on both boards. Probably if it works for my opi4 LTS also works for regular opi4; I will do my tests, if @piter75 wants to do private tests, in compatibility with hi…

  16. Hey Karl here. I am going to be sharing my experience with the xTool D1 Pro 20W. It is a 20W laser cutter/engraver with a 340x390mm working area. It has been heavily reviewed and I will comment on a few points I have not seen spoken about. I join a lot of Facebook groups for these reviews to get real-world feedback and ideas to write about. With nearly all forms of digital fabrication, I regularly read about misconceptions and frustration that stem from unknowingly purchasing a machine that requires a substantial amount of time and patience to learn. For this review, I kept a daily log and will summarize the time it took me to complete one project. I did get sidetracked o…

I was able to get in touch with Samuel Holland and he suggested a fix for the network slowness issue which worked fine for current and edge. 46. Linux 5.18 is out! Linus Torvalds has just announced the release on lkml: No unexpected nasty surprises this last week, so here we go with the 5.18 release right on schedule. That obviously means that the merge window for 5.19 will open tomorrow, and I already have a few pull requests pending. Thank you everybody. I’d still like people to run boring old plain 5.18 just to check, before we start with the excitement of all the new features for the merge window. The full shortlog for the last week is below, and nothing really odd stands out. The diffstat looks a bit funny – unusually we have parsic architecture patches being a big part of it due to some last-minute cache flu…

CNXSoft: This is a guest post by Florian Robert (1technophile) of the OpenMQTTGateway project about using a 433 MHz LoRa transceiver on an ESP32 board for home automation, specifically to talk to 433 MHz sensors Everyone is talking about Matter, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Zwave, but before these complex communication technologies, we had one simple, robust one that our sensors and devices used to leverage: 433MHz. It may be too simplistic to talk about 433 MHz as a technology as there are different and various usages of this frequency. You can find it being used in numerous devices around your home, from your outdoor temperature sensors, and security sensors to the tire press…

Nicolai Electronics’ rp2040-ic2-interface open-source firmware for the Raspberry Pi Pico (or other Raspberry Pi RP2040 boards) converts the board into an I2C to USB bridge to connect any I2C sensor or module to a PC or other hardware without GPIOs. The firmware implements the USB protocol expected by the I2C-Tiny-USB kernel driver used by the original I2C-Tiny-USB project for Microchip ATMega 8-bit AVR microcontrollers. The RP2040 is however not a fork of the original project, but instead a complete re-implementation of the firmware. You’ll need to connect your I2C sensor, display, or another module to the SDA (GPIO 2) and SCL (GPIO 3) pins of the Raspberry Pi RP2040 micr…

To me, an ATX power supply is one of those big boxes delivering 500W+ inside a PC tower, but since it’s not possible to create hardware with much lower power consumption, HDPLEX has designed an ultra-compact 250W passive ATX power supply using the same GaN (Gallium Nitride) technology as found in some tiny USB-C power supplies. With a 170x50x25mm footprint, the company claims it is the world’s smallest ATX PSU, and it is especially well suited to SFF PC enclosures, but it should also work pretty well in other space-constraints applications with a board equipped with an ATX connector, or through an adapter board, or even some RGB LED projects. GaN ATX power supply specific…

  91. Translation of Jetson Nano to use a startup with efi\grub (this model does not require an installation procedure on eMMC, so it can be immediately transferred to this startup option). A separate grub-arm extension allows not to break the current state of the grub extension.sh and will allow to smoothly switch to a two-level scheme in the future. All common data for x86 and arm are placed in the upper level (in a common file extension grub.sh ), and specific additions are distributed at the third level (files grub-x86.sh and grub-arm.sh ).
