Orange Pi Zero xradio not working on 24.08
Just ran `apt-get dist-upgrade` on my Orange Pi Zero LTS with Debian minimal Armbian, and wireless network is gone (not shown in armbian-config). Tried downgrading to legacy kernel without success. I have not yet tested 24.08 from a fresh Armbian image; I'm probably going to restore previous 24.05 from a saved backup image. Just sharing this issue in case others see the same thing. No errors in dmesg ... $ dmesg | grep xradio [ 12.723829] xradio_wlan mmc1:0001:1: Input buffers: 30 x 1632 bytes [ 12.723867] xradio_wlan mmc1:0001:1: Firmware Label:XR_C01.08.52.58 Jul 19 2018 18:53:57 but wlan0 is unavailable ... $ nmcli device status DEVICE TYPE STATE CONNECTION end0 ethernet connected Wired connection 1 lo loopback connected (externally) lo wlan0 wifi unavailable --

[Armbian newsletter] - Armbian Weekly Updates
Armbian Development Highlights: June 2–9, 2025 This week’s Armbian updates focused on kernel improvements, bootloader modernization, and several core enhancements to the build infrastructure. Key work spanned platforms like Rockchip, Sunxi, and Odroid, emphasizing kernel stability and broader compatibility across boards. Kernel Upgrades Several boards received kernel updates: Rockchip 32-bit edge kernel bumped to 6.15 in PR #8262 by paolosabatino. SpacemiT platforms updated to 6.6.93 in PR #8274 by pyavitz. Odroid XU4 kernel upgraded to 6.6.93 via PR #8277 by belegdol. Patches also landed to adapt Wi-Fi drivers to 6.15-era changes, including fixes for xradio and uwe5622 on Sunxi, contributed by The-going: sunxi: xradio – Switch from del_timer_sync to timer_delete_sync uwe5622: Fix timer API changes for 6.15 Bootloader and U-Boot Work Improvements were made to bootloader support: Tinkerboard 2 now uses U-Boot v2025.04 (PR #8268 by hyx0329). RK3328 boards gained setexpr support in U-Boot v2022.04/07 (PR #8260 by djurny). Build System Changes Several build system enhancements landed this cycle: PR #8276 by Ayush1325 prevented unintentional conversion of built-in kernel drivers to modules. A new helper function chroot_sdcard_custom_with_apt_logic was introduced in PR #8245 by rpardini, streamlining SD card build logic. PR #8279 by igorpecovnik removed obsolete Trixie package references. Networking Improvements PR #8259 and commit cdf71df by djurny expanded DHCP configuration in netplan to automatically include interfaces matching lan* and wan*, simplifying initial setup across devices. Miscellaneous Signing key backward compatibility was preserved in PR #8282 and commit aa5526a by igorpecovnik. Commit 0f43036 reworked prepare-host.sh after review. Tanix TX6-p H6 no WIFI
Hello all, I have a/m model with 2GiB RAM / 16GiB eMMC- Wifi: XR819 (XRadio XR819). I've download and install a .img file Armbian_community_25.11.0-trunk.437_Tanix-tx6_trixie_current_6.12.47_minimal.img.xz I want to have a server version CLI, but I don't know where to find that. My problem is that the WIFI is not availible after the boot in ARMbian. Is there any solutions for make it availible? Thank you in advance.

DKMS: Exec format error
Welcome to the club Perhaps you rather help us maintaining and fixing what is possible, so I would guide you away from things that are complete waste of time. Such as this. DKMS works on Armbian, but if this (shit) driver works, that is another question. In some cases it takes years before driver become usable ... while performance still sucks. https://docs.armbian.com/WifiPerformance/#xradio-xr819 AFAIK, there are no reliable driver for aic8800. Sorry for bringing bad news ...

[partly solved] OrangePi Zero2 freezes or looses WiFi connection
I doubt problems has anything to do with networking stack. Its more down to the driver quality itself, perhaps (less possible) some changes in wireless section of kernel. This is 2nd worse wireless chip found on single board computers. The winner of worse is (in)famous Xradio, found on Orangepi Zero 1 and few others, for which we lost thousands of hours only to keep it barely functional. Opi tend to use the cheapest WiFi chips they can find ... Quality will probably always remain as is and keeping it build-able with modern kernels will always remain a challenge. This is the same with all wireless stuff. There is a nice project dedicated to Linux WiFi https://github.com/morrownr/USB-WiFi where one can get some overview on the topic.
