I asked what is the reason for compiling your own kernel. Activating new device driver is as easy as asking here, it will be included in the next release.

CONFIG_VIDEO_TC358743=m

is present in sunxi-dev and sunxi-next, but needs to be added to cubox and possibly other mainline configs.
