August 4Aug 4 I have edge kernel installed and working. I compiled the v4l2 ffmpeg but some of my av1 videos are not working. After some digging I noticed that v4l2-ctl --device=/dev/video4 --list-formats-ext ioctl: VIDIOC_ENUM_FMT Type: Video Capture Multiplanar [0]: 'VT12' (Y/UV 4:2:0 (4x4 Linear)) [1]: 'NV12' (Y/UV 4:2:0) Shouldn't this include the 10 bit formats as well? (NV15?) Does anyone know why the 10 bit format is missing in the kernel? Is this specific to the orange pi? I found this GitHub - dongioia/rock5bplus-rkvdec2: Rock 5B+ (RK3588) on mainline Linux 7.1: V4L2 stateless RKVDEC2/Hantro hardware video decode (VP9 / H.264 / HEVC / AV1) up to 4K, plus a guide for stock Chromium 150 with clean in-browser HW decode (VP9 Mali green artifact fixed upstream in the Chromium 150 ANGLE roll). HDMI 2.0 4K@60Hz, on Beryllium OS. · GitHub Going to test their patches, I am unsure if they are related to the issue but they list a 10 bit VP9. Edited August 4Aug 4 by OttawaHacker
August 4Aug 4 I was curios and see on https://gitlab.collabora.com/hardware-enablement/rockchip-3588/notes-for-rockchip-3588/-/blob/main/mainline-status.md HDMI high color depth support (6.19-rc1): PATCHv3 Haven't read more, but it is a patch, not merged (yet) in mainline tree. Applies to all RK3588 based platforms, like my NanoPi-R6C, sometimes start it with different/own kernel build, but not done any local patches. There is also LibreELEC, it has various (floating around) patches applied to mainline AFAIR. But Armbian is not a dedicated videoplayer platform, so depends on what you want. August 4Aug 4 Which Linux version are you using? Did you use the CMA=256M kernel argument? There's a lot of information here.
August 5Aug 5 i'm not sure if this has any relevance to this thread as it's for Kodi, but at the bottom of this thread, there is reference to a Kodi 22 Piers Beta 1: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=379167 Changelog for Kodi 22 Piers Beta 1: https://kodi.tv/article/kodi-22-piers-beta-1/ Couple of points: Upgraded to FFmpeg 8.1.2 (this is for internal version Kodi is compiled with/against) The whole "Embedded Linux (DRM, GBM, and GLES)" section. Some items: Brings GLES to feature parity with GL Added YUV 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 support Added VAAPI hardware decoding of HEVC 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 (GLES-only) Expanded hardware support, especially for ARM devices Sorry if it's not relevant.
