Odroid XU4 - CPU temp discrepancy

Featured Replies

I'm curious how the CPU temp value is calculated on the MOTD screen when ssh'ing in.

Mine is showing 56°C, but if I run the commands:

# cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone*/temp
45000
44000
48000
44000
41000

# armbianmonitor -m
Stop monitoring using [ctrl]-[c]
Time big.LITTLE load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU C.St.

12:16:28: 600/ 600MHz 0.17 1% 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% 45.0°C 0/3

Thanks

When you are logging into SSH it spins the CPU up for a second which generates heat, after logging in the CPU usage spike goes down as does the temperature.

Sounds reasonable but don't think that's it.

If you run these commands back to back after being logged in, you can see the difference.

root@odroidxu4:~# cat /etc/armbianmonitor/datasources/soctemp
44000
root@odroidxu4:~# cat /var/run/motd.dynamic
