  1. Many of us are using Armbian not just on ARM single board computers but also on servers (bare metal & virtual). We use our builds since we trust it more then Debian, Ubuntu, not to mention other distributions that are recklessly updating and one ends up as an OS tester and not OS user. Personally I use Armbian Jammy on Ryzen 9 workstation with great success. My primary use case is development / productivity. For the road I used to have 13" Dell notebook which recently suddenly died. It was out of warranty so I had to get something new. After some testings of various devices I settled with 12th Gen Intel i5-1240P powered Lenovo. Then I tried many general purpose distro…

  2. When flashing the Armbian image for the Odin 2 Portal to the SD card and attempting to boot (on ROCKNIX ABL v1.2), the ABL can detect the SD card but does not detect the OS at all. This is on the latest version of the OS, with the GNOME/ubuntu image flashed via the official Armbian Imager. When will this be fixed? (image not uploaded as it kept throwing errors)

  4. I see a very active gaming thread for the Orange Pi 5, but the Radxa Dragon Q6A is the better credit card sized ARM SBC for gaming. I'm a bit of a lazy person, so I don't feel like testing many settings, so I settled on the Steam ARM Linux client and for some games the Luxtorpeda tool for Steam. Luxtorpeda isn't developed for ARM, but it will run with Fex-Emu, and I assume Box64. https://codeberg.org/luxtorpeda/luxtorpeda Here you can see Metro 2033 Redux on the Rada Dragon Q6A. I played it with Luxtorpeda. You can also play it with Proton ARM64, but I didn't see much difference with the performance. Performance is around 20-25 fps at 1080p…

  10. Hi everyone, I hope this topic is in the right place and won't bother anyone. I'm pretty new to the ARM world. In very first i would like to thanks all people and the communities who work hard on Armbian. I successfully use a NanoPC T6 Plus / A NanoPi M6 and other forks on some TV Box with no major problems. My curiosity pushed me to try using Armbian on a MinisForum MS-R1, so i bought one and tried to boot up the KDE or Gnome image on it. In the two case, the installation is a fail at the step of launching the desktop environment, it's stuck here. The uefi is up to date with the lastest version (cix_flash_all2_MGP1WSB_20…

  11. I received a Helios4 and was finally able to get it to boot. As per instructions, I booted from microSD and flashed the latest Armbian image to sda1 via the nand-sata-install command. This reboots fine now, but only with the microSD-card present and the SW1 dipswitch set to "SD card boot mode". Is anybody here using "SPI NOR Flash" or "SATA1" boot mode to get rid of the microSD card? I am bit handicapped here since my serial port on the microUSB only comes up maybe 1 in 10 times. I wonder if it's worn out or if I am simply doing something wrong. Related Links: 1 2 3 4

Hi, I've installed the latest Armbian on an F3 (Armbian_26.5.1_Bananapif3_trixie_current_6.18.33_minimal.img), updated and upgraded and then rebooted. Unfortunately there's no PWM controller under /sys: bobham@bananapif3:~$ ls /sys/class/pwm/ bobham@bananapif3:~$ which means there's no fan control. According to the official docs, there should be a PWM controller to control the fan. Can the fan controller be added? Thanks, Bob Ham

  13. Installed minimal debian image on my rPI5B. Then used "armbian-config --cmd PVE001" to install Proxmox. That went well with no reported errors. Navigated to the Proxmox web GUI and it looked and acted as expected. I currently have an AMD64 Proxmox cluster operating on my homelab so I am familiar with Proxmox. I wanted to make some changes to my network configuration using the Proxmox GUI. When I clicked the "Apply Configuration" button, it threw an "incompatible ifupdown2 package version" instead of applying the configuration.

  14. After more than six successful years with Helios4, I have to say goodbye to this platform and the highly valued, helpful, and knowledgeable Armbian forum. With 32-bit, it’s no longer feasible to continue using it in the future. I have installed the 4 8TB hard drives from the NAS into an Odroid H4+ (Intel, 64-bit), installed OMV8, and on top of that, Nextcloud-AIO Hub 26 Winter and AdGuardHome. Thank you very much for your support over the past few years. btw. The Helios4 hardware (excluding the hard drives) is still available.

Klipper doesn't know what happened just that the mcu stopped responding. And their knowledge base article is basically "gosh it could be anything". One seat of the pants observation i made was that the XU4 idles along at 600mhz with a load average of about 0.1 and it seemed like the load average increased maybe before the mcu stopped responding. The latest build I can get working is 24.11.1 which doesn't survive an upgrades (I've tried holding the various packages that seem to cause issues which used to work but doesn't work anymore. The suggested trouble shooting on the download page doesn't work either. Currently the 25.11.1 build is stuck in a bootloop, the only irregularity I can identify is failure to load console-setup.service message. I had a working system that lost my soundcard/DAC-hat after trying to address update error messages which's what started this whole refresh process

  50. Hi, I successfully installed and tested PiClone (or also called SD Card Copier) in Armbian 25.8.1 Trixie on a Raspberry PI 4b with SD cards and SSD via USB adapter and vice versa. Might also work on other Debian based distro's. I just leave my personal instructions here in case others need PiClone too to make copy of good working Armbian install and configuration. To be clear I am not a very advanced user, so others may know to do more efficient. But it is working here without issue. Moved to Armbian because was fed up with annoyances in DietPI, certain things being too different from pure Debian that I use on "regular" computers. Raspberry PI OS i…

I think this is partly because things have changed since 2016/17. I did not have my eMMc on an usb adapter. Just installed, brand new (untouched from China) eMMc and a imaage install on MicroSD of Armbian. The method I believed should work was "armbian-install". But, it had errors while using mkpartimage. 52. Hello! I have an RPi5 8GB board that I bought off of AliExpress, along with a Waveshare PoE M.2 HAT+ ( https://www.waveshare.com/poe-m.2-hat-plus-b.htm ) Initially I tried to use the Noble XFCE image, by following the recommended installation procedure via rpi-imager via a USB drive, hoping to install the system to a Toshiba (Kioxia) NVMe drive. The RPI5 was connected to a CrowView Note. What I saw was that the firmware loaded up the necessary files from the USB drive (then later the micro-SD card), and the initramfs loaded up too, then systemd started up, and probably when the screen usually goes blank for a short time (probably switchin…

To prove settings are ok on the device, it boots the deb bookworm usb image I made. Unfortunatly, Deb won't install as this device only has 8GB of flash... hence why I returned again to Armbain Many thanks MarkA

I recently noticed my ODroid XU4 was reporting weird temperature readings: cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp -22000 Is this a software issue or maybe hardware failing? Also, I would like to upgrade, is there another board I could just transfer my EMMC to and be up and running? Thanks

  57. A known issue with the Odroid XU4, HC1, and HC2 is that it (uboot?) does not properly park the hard disk heads before/during shutdown or power cycle/off. So, the disk drive is forced to emergency hard retract the heads when power is shutdown/cycled. This is of course a violent action for the HDD and should be avoided. Use this odroid.shutdown script and install into /lib/systemd/system-shutdown/. https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/troubleshooting/shutdown_script Recommend adding to armbian for XU4 distros.

  71. I am currently developing an application that requires using monitor mode with RT8821CU chipset (rtw88 kernel driver). Previously I was using RaspberryPi OS and everything worked great, but I am moving to Armbian mainly to be able to target more SBCs. The problem is in Armbian, the WiFi monitoring performance is much much worse (at least with the RT8821CU) than with RaspberryPi OS and with my Arch laptop, and I cannot guess why could this be. I have tested on the rpi4b the following: * Build the rtw88 driver with debug and debugfs enabled just in case. * Test with all the three kernel versions available (edge 6.16, current 6.12, legacy 6.6). 73. Just wondering if anyone would be interested in running a helios4 NAS still today? Or maybe you might need a spare board as a potential replacement? I have a decommissioned one at home that has been replaced with an x86 machine. The helios4 still works just fine and it would be quite a waste to just throw it away. With newer kernel versions, communication works not, /dev/i2c-1 does not exist anymore in this case without changing any configuration, just selected newer kernel using armbian-config Any ideas why this happens?

Hello, I am trying to install Armbian UEFI-x86 into this very small mini PC, but with secure boot enabled it only shows this screen: Disabling the secure boot isn't an option, because every time I turn it off and then turn it on the next morning, the BIOS settings are being reset, then the secure boot is enabled once again (I believe it is intentional, because the CMOS battery only keeps the clock & date). Moreover, I want to use it as a headless computer, so no keyboard will be attached. Is this fixable or Armbian isn't compatible with secure boot? Thanks in advance.
