Hello, I'm starting in this world with an Orange Pi Lite, but I'm not being able to perform the initial setup using serial console gadget on the OTG port. To prevent power problems, I'm using the DC input. Unfortunately I haven't found enough information to make the configuration on a Linux PC, since I wasn't able to know the /dev address to connect through screen. You've probably noticed that my knowledge of Linux is rather scarce. Thanks in advance!

  8. I should probably start a new thread for this but it seemed appropriate to post here at this time of nght.. So the OPi Zero Plus 2 boards arrived and I duly set up the image on a 8GB SD card, connected the serial TTL to USB adapter and booted. Everything came up fine so I set up the wifi to my local network using nmtui. Again no problems. I did an apt-get update and upgrade and rebooted, all OK again. Having SSHed into the device I get very sluggish performance and pinging from another machine on the lan I see hugely variable pings ie variations from a few ms to over a second. I installed wavemon and it shows a very strong wifi signal (as expected). The ping…

  9. I have a NanoPi Neo that's been up about 4 months and I am using it for DHCP and DNS caching (using dnsmasq). This has been working fine over SSH until after the update. Previously, I could log in, edit the dnsmasq settings, and restart the service without issue. Now, when I attempt to restart a service (not just dnsmasq, I tested a couple others), it hangs and looks like it's waiting for a password entry on the TTY. (I'm logged in over SSH and I do not have a TTY connected). ... in first SSH session, this just hangs forever until I ctrl-C: root@nanopineo:/etc# systemctl restart dnsmasq ... in second SSH session, PS shows: root 1825 783 0…

  10. So I apologise in advance because I'm sure it's probably on this forum but I could not work out the buzzwords to find it. For whatever reason, I upgraded the cubietruck with armbian which has been on since forever and rebooted for the first time this year. On reboot it failed to find /boot and a few other things and kept bootlooping, resetting itself and then following the same procedure. I already had installed the system to my SATA SSD, so this isn't a huge deal. I've flashed the latest armbian release onto the SD card and it boots fine. Now, I see there is an install to sata option in armbian-config but it gives me the warning that it will wipe …

  11. as of some network release before the current (unsupported) 4.11.3 kernel, the networking has started having random value hw mac addresses on every boot. I suspect if you can do so and look @ your DHCP server, you will possibly see the orangepi (or whatever your hostname is) lurking there. Another way to do it if you have to, is to /sbin/ifconfig and get the HWaddr and look for that mac address on your dhcp server. I came by your post while trying to find a workable solution to assigning the mac on the orangepi zero 512 I am bringing up. Jim

  18. Hello. Is there a way of resetting the USB subsystem in Armbian for Orange Pi Zero? I don't want to unplug and plug a USB device or reboot the system just to reset the plugged USB devices. The above is doable on a PC running Ubuntu with something like this: $: cd /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd $: ls 0000:00:14.0 bind module new_id remove_id uevent unbind $: echo -n "0000:00:14.0" > unbind $: echo -n "0000:00:14.0" > bind Wondering if something similar (I don't really care if the solution is not similar) is doable on Armbian for OPIZ. Cheers!

  19. Hey everyone! I just got myself hooked up with an Orange Pi PC+ and I was wondering is it possible to send files over the usb-ttl dongle just like in Windows Explorer, from my pc onto the eMMC or the external sd card, which is in the slot. One of the main new features that i really like is custom sampling frequency compared to the original driver for linux kernel 3.4 (i just remember the interval are 2 seconds). I want to use AXP209 PMU for power/energy profiling and consumption study of some SBC such as Banana Pi/Pro and some other Allwinner based SBC as comparison. 24. Hi all. I have been doing some interesting reading here. Thank you that you started this project. I saw it already in 2014 I think when I bought my Pcduino 3 Version A but I wasn't sure back there if this project was for real. 26. Platform oPi Plus 2E with Armbian 5.31 (Legacy). I have configured a WiFi adaptor, and it works fine in connecting to an existing hotspot. When I attempt to use network manager applet (or nm-connection-editor/nmtui from a root prompt) to create an Ad-hoc network I am getting permissions errors. For NM TUI it is 'Unable to save connection: Insufficient privileges.', and similar for the other methods. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to diagnose and/or fix this? From the research I have done the nm-applet error is likely a simple config error (not set up to run as root for this function), but the other avenues failures seem odd.

  27. Hi, I own the first Orange Pi (A20, VGA, HDMI, NAND, 4xUSB, WiFi). I notice there is no Armbian image for download anymore. The last one I still have is a 3.4.113, 5.25 Ubuntu/Xenial-default-desktop (currently running from the NAND very well, but I can't seem to run the wifi in AP mode). Or maybe convert a A20 image to this board, using the working image I'm currently using ? Thanks !

  39. Hello everybody. AFAIK Banana PI M1+ share the same costumed Armbian OS with Banana Pro. The Armbian can run pretty well without any changes on my Banana Pro. The problem is, with the same OS image, the on-board WiFi is not working and i can't remember what im doing (what i remember is I do something inside /boot directory), then the WiFi is detected and working properly on my Banana Pi M1+. My simple question is What is the right way to configure Armbian for Banana Pi M1+ after installation? I assume all the default configuration is for Banana Pro and we need some tweak for Banana Pi M1+ especially to enable on-board WiFi and to use GPIO properly.

Hi, I am running Armbian Jessie (4.11.6-sunxi) on Banana Pi M1. For reading and writing SD cards I use linux dd cmd on another box. I do not have a Windows system. My question is this: My SD card is a 16Gb device. With gparted I can reduce the size of the system to a partition that would easily fit on a 4Gb device. But when writing the .img file dd will still see and write an image of 16 Gb There must be a way to make an image that can be written to and booted from a smaller device to save resources on the backup disk. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
