SD card and PSU issues

When your board doesn't start at all, behave very strange or dies without apparent reason

  1. Hi, I have 4 FriendlyElec NanoPi Neo 3 boards. Till now they were working fine, but after today 'apt upgrade' none of them boot anymore. 2. Hi, I have RockPro64 board and NVMe drive. This board doesn't support booting from NVMe so I need to have spearate boot partition. Here's my /etc/fstab file (on NVMe filesystem): UUID=645f4a77-3e04-48da-ab41-0de8a81c1c13 /boot ext4 defaults,noatime,nodiratime,commit=600,errors=remount-ro 0 1 UUID=c94a693a-74df-4e63-a466-2107a287f26a / ext4 defaults,noatime,nodiratime,commit=600,errors=remount-ro 0 1 tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults, nosuid 0 0 In my opinion, it shouldn't work because if /etc/fstab is on a different partition, how can it be mounted? But I heard that initramfs stored on /boot will contain drivers and information necessary to mou…

  4. I just ran apt update && apt upgrade on my Tinkerboard S, now it boots to a backtrace and I can't connect to it either. Might a recent update have problems? I have attached a screenshot of the backtrace.

  5. Started by Adrian Cable,

Hi, I'm having issues with an unreliable HW watchdog on the Orange Pi Zero. I am using the standard Armbian kernels (tried 4.19.62, 5.3.x, 5.4.x - all the same) and have nowayout=1: [ 4.328286] sunxi-wdt 1c20ca0.watchdog: Watchdog enabled (timeout=16 sec, nowayout=1) I'm feeding /dev/watchdog every 2 seconds. Superficially it works, for example, if I do the following the WD triggers after 16 sec and the board reboots: echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger However I am finding that in other crash scenarios, the WD reboot sometimes happens and sometimes does not. For example, with a forkbomb :(){ :|:& };: about 70% of th…

  6. Started by Frank Shin,

Hi I have been able to use armbian (Stretch) on the Cubox-i well. But I tried to use the Buster images, and I get the same problem for all of them. The initial display starts up, I get about 10 lines of output, and then the screen goes blank. On the router, I don't see the board, so I don't think that I can ssh in. (It's being used as a headless server, but I need to a display or SSH to fix it). Any ideas why buster wouldn't work but stretch is OK ? I could just go back to stretch, if necessary. By the way, is there a link to download the armbian stretch images ?

Test setup: After the micro-USB thread where I showed that USB cable and charger matters, it’s time to speak about SD-Cards. For this I buyed a cheap SD-Card from aliexpress claimed to be a 8GB class 10 SDHC. Spoiler Since I have no other 8GB cards I’ll compare this card with a Samsung EVO+ 32GB card which I usually use with my SBCs. After arrival, I did (as recommended by the armbian getting started guide) a first H2testw to check if the card is in a good shape (test results in german). Spoiler Achtung: Nur 7659 von 7660 MByte getestet. Der Datenträger ist wahrscheinlich defekt. 7,4 GByte OK (156…
