  1. Description As specified in PR https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/5967, there was a nasty mistake in rockchip and rk322x source files that were attempting to create two groups (gpio and i2c) on the building host instead of the built image. This caused the build system to crash when the groups were already present on the building host, which is totally not desiderable, and the intended feature was also broken. After some inspection, the groups were leveraged by a couple of udev rules to allow non-root users have access to gpio and i2c resources out of the box. This PR fixes the group creation on the target built image. Note: gpio and i2c gids starts from 900 because g…

  4. Dear Armbians, Armbian point releases are times when our entire team works diligently to stabilize our highly complex ecosystem. We understand that, despite our best efforts, there will always be some issues that may not work perfectly. We estimate that resolving bugs and adding new features for each release takes thousands of hours to be completed. This is what the Armbian and its community contributes on top of the vanilla Linux code, which is aggregated at common points, usually referred to as mainline. The code, contributed by many individuals, is intended to be stable. However, given the complexity of the Linux kernel and its maintenance by a diverse group of people…

http://blog.armbian.com/content/images/2025/11/githubhighlights.pngThis week’s Armbian development saw significant progress across multiple fronts, including expanded hardware support and key software enhancements. Notable additions include support for new boards such as the Radxa E54C and Hardkernel ODROID M1S, as well as the integration of Debian Forky as a CSC target. Kernel updates were prominent, with bumps to versions 6.17 and 6.18, alongside improved configuration management for various devices. Bootloader improvements were made, including enhanced BTRFS support and more reliable local version settings in U-Boot. Several bug fixes addressed build errors and kernel …

  9. ITEAD has just introduced the SONOFF Zigbee Bridge Pro WiFi <-> Zigbee gateway as an upgrade to the Sonoff ZBBridge gateway launched in 2020. Both devices look exactly the same, and the changes are under the hood with the EFR32MG21 and ESP8266/ESP8285 combo being replaced by Texas Instruments SimpleLink CC2652P and ESP32 chips to boost the number of supported sub-devices from 32 to 128. Other changes include the addition of a buzzer acting as an alarm or doorbell chime, as well as a “built-in high-precision local RTC” for gateway time synchronization of local scene schedules. 10. Mekotronics R58 is a single board computer based on Rockchip RK3588 processor that will also be sold as a mini PC with an enclosure, and offers a cheaper alternative to the company’s R58X embedded mini PC with up to 16GB RAM, dual Gigabit Ethernet, dual SATA, etc… The R58 comes with fewer ports notably only one Gigabit Ethernet port, one SATA interface, and the RS485/RS232 terminal block and M.2 socket are gone, but it does add an extra HDMI output port, meaning it could support up to four independent displays. It still features up to 16GB RAM and 64GB eMMC flash. Mekotronics R58 specifications: SoC – Rockchip RK3588 octa-core processor with four Cortex-A76 cores @ 2.4 GH…

  20. Description The user idubrov reported on forums and discord that the current and edge images are not bootable from sdcard as mmc driver fails to probe due to regulator not being available. This is a regression that happened due to switching from bigtreetech provided axp313a driver to mainline axp313a driver. Updating regulator node name in dts apparently makes it work with the upstream driver as tested by the user. I have also noticed that CI was not covering current and edge kernel for this board. I have enabled the same to make sure we will be aware of such issues in the future. How Has This Been Tested? Please describe the tests that you ran to verify your changes. P…

  21. This PR enables kernel modules for various USB Gadget applications for rockchip 32 bit platforms (rk322x, rk3288) for both current 6.6 and edge 6.7 kernels. Also provides a bunch of patches to address issues with rk322x, whose peripheral mode does not really well with dwc2 driver yet. A couple of patches are self-produced after trial-and-error sessions, another pair are imported from rockchip 5.10 kernel and substitutes an older patch with a bit more refined code (see the "debounce" patch). edit: the patches addressing the rk322x issues probably are worth also for rk3318 and rk3328, since the controller is the very same with similar issues. 32. Electronic components have shrunk a lot over the year, but batteries are usually one of the larger items in a design. ITEN changes that with solid state lithium-ion micro-batteries in the shape of SMD components with up to 100 µAh capacity. This is clearly not going to power your next smartphone, but ITEM micro-batteries could be found in ultra-low-power sensors potentially replacing non-rechargeable coin cell batteries with much higher capacities (e,g. 100 mAh). ITEN says their solid-state micro-batteries are superior to coin cell batteries because those are polluting, difficult to assemble on PCB, costly to recycle and require periodic maintenance once a battery is de…

  46. In the past, new mini PCs were released as a result of new processors coming to market. However, with the pandemic and its consequences on the supply chain, some Chinese manufacturers’ survival response has been to source old processors in order to continue presenting new devices. It could be argued that for this approach to be successful these alternative older processors should at least be comparable in performance terms to the latest processors that are currently, or theoretically potentially, now available. In terms of low-end Intel mini PC processor chronology which started with Bay Trail and then Cherry Trail followed by the Lakes of Apollo and Gemini, the current b…

  49. The AquaPing is an open-source hardware, ultra-low power acoustic water leak detector sensor based on Texas Instruments MSP430 microcontroller and a microphone that can detect leaks without having to do any plumbing, instead capturing audio for water leak detection, and it even works for leaks behind walls. All signal processing and analysis occur on the MSP430 MCU, so no audio is streamed to the cloud and eavesdropping is impossible, plus the sensor only captures high frequencies out of the range of normal conversations, so eavesdropping is not feasible, plus those higher frequencies are also said to provide highest sensitivity and reliability. AquaPing specifications: M…

This way user applications can see not only if a hdmi is plugged in or not, but also what type of video is being transmitted. For my use case specifically, I just want to know if the recieved type is no type (V4L2_DV_IT_CONTENT_TYPE_NO_ITC) or literally anything else. This would let me detect when my main computer's goes to sleep with the hdmi out from the main computer plugged into the OP5+ HDMI in. Without this patch, there's no way to tell that happened, as for my gpu/hdmi plug, it keeps the hot pl…
