Description ddbr was failing on a recent jammy build. The issue is that lsblk output has changed sometime since this script was written. The logic to parse out the $runfrom drive was returning duplicate info, so instead of 'mmcblk0' the value was 'mmcblk0 mmcblk0' Having this duplicate value was causing an error further down the script. Fix is to add ' | sort | uniq' this was already being done on the other lsblk outputs, just not this one. I've run into this before, and I guess at that time, I forgot to submit a PR for the fix, or it was for a different script that had the same issue. Changes to be committed: modified: packages/bsp/common/usr/sbin/ddbr Jira refere…

ITEAD has introduced the SONOFF NSPanel Pro Smart Home control panel running Android 8.1 on a Rockchip PX30 quad-core Cortex-A35 processor and acting as a Smart Home gateway thanks to an 802.15.4 radio for Zigbee 3.0, and 2.4 GHz 802.11b WiFi for connectivity. The NSPanel Pro follows the ESP32-powered SONOFF NSPanel introduced just last year but offers much more flexibility with Android, 2GB RAM, 8GB eMMC flash, and also offers a slightly larger 3.95-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 480×480 resolution. A TDP (Thermal Design Power) value in Watts will usually be provided for Intel and AMD processors to help manufacturers design an appropriate thermal solution for a given processor, and it’s often used to estimate power consumption by consumers. But TDP is also often configurable, and manufacturers may decide to increase to decrease the value for higher performance or lower power consumption, so we’ll show you how to check the TDP value, or more exactly PL1 and PL2 power limits in both Windows 11 and Linux (Ubuntu 22.04). Note that TDP is being replaced by PBP (Processor Base Power) in newer processors, with PL1 (Long Duration) corresponding to BPB, and PL2 (Short Duratio…

Description Many network cards (wired and wireless) now require specific firmware to work, these are usually included in linux-firmware. The idea of this commit is to include some common firmware in armbian-firmware to solve driver loading problems. After that we can remove the same firmware files on armbian-firmware. Description This script calls amixer to set various mixer volumes, by simply trying a bunch of mixer names for each sound card in the system. In practice, this meant the amixer command was called 158 times for each sound card. The overhead of all these forks and probably also amixer startup added together to produce a noticable slowdown in startup. For example on an Orange Pi PC, the script took about 6 seconds per soundcard. This was on a system with a few extra USB soundcards (6 alsa cards in total): $ time bash ./armbian-audio-config.original real 0m35.662s user 0m20.145s sys 0m15.145s This commit modifies the script to spawn amixer only once per alsa …

Description As per subject, bump rockchip 32 bit edge kernel to 6.9. Patches have been left as is because all of them applied fine, except for the device tree overlay compilation and installation. The device tree things have changed in 6.9 and the patch does not apply anymore. After some headeaches with the terrible makefiles, the second commit of this PR contains some hints on how I did the job and can serve as a icebreaker for other families perhaps. In particular: Some little accomodations in the overlay Makefile. the kernel makefile already supports dtbo files, but it wants the sources with .dtso extension, so all the device trees in overlay directory must be rena…

Description In an effort to reduce wifi driver burdens AR-1745, I went through the 6.10 kernel to check if any third party wifi drivers can be removed. The following drivers are part of the mainline kernel as of 6.10: RTL8723CS (driver: RTW88) RTL8811CU and RTL8821C (driver: RTW88) RTL8192EU (driver: RTL8XXXU) To give them some more time in the oven, use them not from 6.10 but from 6.11 onwards. I went through the Armbian forums, Atlassian and GiHub issues to see if anyone had used those drivers for these chips in the past and had reported issues. But I haven't found anything yet. RTL8723DS is also supported by RTW88, but I have not touched that driver since it is st…

Adds the needed files support the spidev on the NanoPi Neo3 with a different address. Tested on my own NanoPi Neo3 with a LoRaWAN concentrator connected via SPI. I am unsure about the changes in rockchip-fixup.scr-cmd. It needs a user to use a not very convenient device "number" specific to the NanoPi Neo3. But I did not know how to do this differently without possibly breaking other boards. Any suggestions on how this is usually done are welcome. Still it seems I am the only person on this planet to use SPI on the NanoPi Neo3 as no one else seems to have reported anything... Any constructive feedback is very welcome. View the full article

As expected, AMD has now launched the Ryzen Embedded R2000 series processors that build up on the earlier Ryzen Embedded R1000 family, but doubles the number of cores to up to four, gets improved Radeon graphics, and adds support for Windows 11 operating system. Performance and efficiency have also improved with the new Ryzen Embedded R2515 CPU exhibiting up to 81 percent higher CPU (Passmark v10) and graphics (3DMark) performance compared to Ryzen Embedded R1606G processor, as well as higher performance-per-watt efficiency thanks to the Zen+ core architecture. The company has four Ryzen Embedded R2000 processors in its portfolio at launch. Key features and specifications…

I’ve written the first part of Mekotronics R58 review last month with an unboxing, teardown, and first boot with 3D graphics benchmarks. I’ve now had more time to play with Android 12 on the Rockchp RK3588 mini PC, so I’ll report my experience with the device. User interface and settings As already mentioned, the box ships with Android 12 for TV and the stock launcher. The Google Play store is working, and I had no troubles installing all apps I needed for the review. Most of the settings are pretty much standard. While the first time, I used Ethernet, and also tried WiFi 6 connecting the R58 to Xiaomi Mi AX6000 router. It worked but not without some effort, as initially,…

Espressif Systems has just announced the Matter-compatible ESP-ZeroCode modules with Wi-Fi and/or Thread (802.15.4) wireless connectivity that are designed as plug-and-play solutions for LED lights, outlets, switches, dimmers, relays, fans, and other lighting and electrical devices. I was only recently introduced to no-code programming in a recent post by Ninephon Kongangkab explaining how to use SenseCraft firmware for no-code programming on Wio Terminal. Basically, there’s no need to know Arduino, MicroPython, or any programming language, as the user just has to press a few buttons to configure an IoT device to meet his/her requirements. With the ESP-ZeroCode modules, E…

Changes to be committed: modified: config/boards/aml-s9xx-box.tvb modified: packages/bsp/aml-s9xx-box/boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf.template The aml-s9xx-box builds use the native TV Box u-boot. I've had as a todo item to figure out how to not build and include an unused u-boot. In a recent PR for a different board the opposite was being done (adding a u-boot where a board didn't previously ship one), thus I then had the info to remove it here. This also changes the generated extlinux.conf to include a fdt line by adding the boot_fdt_file to the board config file. This reduces the effort needed to manually modify the extlinux.conf. Description In several situations we need to have systemd-resolved installed and configured or we loose DNS. This happens in case of HA and most likely OMV too. As per documentation: systemd-resolved will work out of the box with a network manager using /etc/resolv.conf. No particular configuration is required since systemd-resolved will be detected by following the /etc/resolv.conf symlink. This is going to be the case with systemd-networkd, NetworkManager, and iwd. move DNS server set from Ubuntu specifics change switch to if and check for DISTRIBUTION instead of RELEASE detach bullseye so we can keep it operational without systemd-resolved change bullseye to EOS Ins…
