  3. Description I notice that the first commit of armbian-next contains too many things (armbian-next: huge refactor, shellfmt, codesplit, logging/error handling). It's really hard to find out what changes we do, because we both split /lib/*.sh and change the code in one commit. It will loss the association between master and armbian-next. This PR is just split /lib/*.sh without changing any codes (except the first commit and the remove of source in /lib/main.sh). So users can find out where the codes come and then following the original commit log. If we want to merge armbian-next, this PR can make us more easily to find out the differentiation and review. If we don't mer…

  4. Description Although the u-boot of rock5b supports ext4, when using ext4 as a whole root partition, sometimes it will take a long time for u-boot to load kernel image, which will cause pd negotiation timeout. So a single /boot partition is still needed. I intended to use ext4 as boot partition filesystem but the ext4 /boot only has usable space 109M while the real partition size is 256M, so I use fat filesystem. How Has This Been Tested? [x] Build image sucessfully. [x] Image boots successfully on rock5b Checklist: [x] My code follows the style guidelines of this project [x] I have performed a self-review of my own code [ ] I have commented my code, particularly in ha…

  5. Sipeed LM4A is a quad-core RISC-V system-on-module based on the T-Head TH1520 SoC found in the ROMA laptop and destinated to be found in a Raspberry Pi SBC competitor as well as a cluster board. The LM4A, which stands for Lichee Module 4 Model A, comes with 4GB to 16GB RAM, and up to 64GB flash, and connects to the carrier board through a 260-pin SO-DIMM connector. The TH1520 is one of the rare RISC-V SoCs with a 3D GPU, and the SBC based on LM4A has been shown to outperform the Raspberry Pi 4 in benchmarks as we’ll see below. 9. Description Four fixes: 1, board-pbp-add-dp-alt-mode.patch: there is an upstream change, so fix this patch to fit current kernel 2, board-rock3a-cec.patch: there is an already merged commit, so delete it 3, board-rock3a-hdmi-sound.patch already merged, delete it 4, board-rock3a-pcie.patch pcie2 part already merged, and pcie3 part is on the way. I deleted the pcie2 part and use pcie3 patch from upstream Still failed patch: wifi-4003-uwe5622-adjust-for-rockchip.patch. This is because base patch patch/misc/wireless-driver-for-uwe5622-allwinner.patch is not applied because of armbian-next merged to main and lib/functions/compilation/patch/kernel-drivers.sh has been drooped.…

  10. Description A recent couple of patches, introduced in mainline kernel 6.1 to fix some rk356x emmc detection, break the detection of some old emmc parts on rk322x. This PR reverts the kernel 6.1 patches until some more investigations are done to better understand the nature of the issue and if it can be solved without disturbing the mainline kernel. 12. Description We package kernel debs with package name like linux-image-legacy-rk35xx. In general people treat legacy-rk35xx as the flavor. Debian's live-build will use it to generate grub config: https://salsa.debian.org/live-team/live-build/-/blob/master/scripts/build/binary_grub_cfg#L117. And ubiquity which is ubuntu's desktop installer also looks for it. So it's better to change our kernel filename to standard like vmlinuz-*${flavor}. My reasoning is; The rtw88 driver for reasons yet unknown seems to trigger usb fails more often than the github driver. 19. This week’s Armbian development saw significant enhancements across hardware support and system functionality. The Arduino UNO Q was officially added, along with new firmware and flash binaries for the QRB2210 and QCM2290 variants. HDMI CEC support was introduced for Rockchip RK3588/RK3576 SoCs, while panel compatibility expanded with updates for Raspberry Pi and Hardkernel ODROID-Vu8S. Key kernel improvements included a bump to version 7.0-rc6 and rewritten patches for Rockchip64-6.18. The release also featured workflow hardening, exclusion of unsupported boards, and fixes for USB-C OTG mode on Odroid-M2. These updates collectively strengthen Armbian’s platform stability…

  22. In the first part of MECOOL KP1 smart projector review, I checked out the package content, projector design, and integrated HDMI stick running Android 11 TV, before going through the setup wizard, and trying the projector with Android 11. I’ve now spent more time with the device, so I’ll report my overall experience. The best way to install the projector is probably to mount it on a ceiling or a wall, but in my case, I just placed it on top of a shelf itself placed on top of a table to adjust the height for a comfortable viewing experience from our comfy seats. As we’ve seen before, the projector will boot directly to the Android 11 TV launcher from the included MECOOL KD…

  52. The first quarter of 2026 has been a period of significant technical consolidation for the Armbian project. Driven by the v26.02 (Goa) release cycle, the project has focused on three core pillars: aggressive framework refactoring, the stable rollout of the Linux 6.18 LTS kernel, and the maturation of the Armbian Imager utility. Core Framework RefactoringA primary objective this quarter was the reduction of technical debt within the armbian/build repository. The development team initiated a systematic cleanup to improve build reliability and maintenance. Toolchain Optimization: Through a series of pull requests, including #9218, #9252, and #9256, significant "dead code" wa…

Frore Systems Airjet Mini and Airjet Pro are active cooling chips that are just 2.8mm thick and quietly suck cool air in from the top of the chip before pushing it out the sides with the aim to replace traditional fan-based solutions in ultrabooks, or be integrated into VR headsets and smartphones for improved cooling. Yesterday we saw that cameras could clean themselves with micro-vibrations, and it happens that processors can be cooled with vibrations too as the Airjet chips are comprised of tiny membranes that vibrate at ultrasonic frequencies to generate a flow of air that enters through inlet vents in the top and transformed into high-velocity pulsating jets exiting …

Back in 2016, when I searched for the world’s cheapest MCU, I found Holtek HT48R002 8-bit microcontroller, and a few years later (2019), Padauk PMS150C “3 Cents” MCU came to my attention. However, both are 8-bit microcontrollers that come with OTG (One-Time Programming) ROM, meaning they can’t be easily used for development or updated. 95. Axelera M.2 AI accelerator module is said to deliver up to 214 TOPS of AI inference and up to 3200 FPS with ResNet -50 in a compact M.2 2280 form factor. Few details are available at this time, but the module is based on the company’s Metis AIPU (AI Processing Unit) using in-memory computing based on arrays of SRAM memory devices used to “store a matrix and perform matrix-vector multiplications “in-place” without intermediate movement of data”. This technology is said to “radically” increase the number of operations per computer cycle with without suffering from issues such as noise or lower accuracy. The Metis AI platform delivers 50+ TOPS per core (RISC-V-controlled dat…

  97. Wokwi is an online simulator for Arduino, Raspberry Pi Pico, and ESP32 boards, or even your own custom microcontroller board designed to learn programming without the actual hardware. My girlfriend’s daughter has just attended a free 5-day online course about AI, IoT, ESP32, MicroPython, and more organized by King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) and IMAKE Innovation, a STEM education company in Thailand. I was told they had some homework for ESP32 as part of the course, so I asked her whether she wanted an ESP32 board. But she said no need. So then I asked how to program the ESP32 without the board, or do they have a simulator? And indeed I was sent t…
