  5. Description Enable the current kernel branch for some RK3588 boards, which was introduced in https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/6699 current is kernel version 6.8 at the moment and should stay a more stable alternative than edge, which is often a rc kernel. This is useful when using the board as daily driver for example or when you don't want anythign at all to suddenly break. current will stay at the next LTS kernel once released. I did not enable it for every board at once, only the NanoPC T6 and the CM3588 NAS for now. Feel free to add a commit to this PR or let me know if you'd like to enable current on a specific board. 8. Description In order to tidy up (see this PR), Radxa Rock-s0 board patch has been revised to work with the mainline device tree, and avoid shred it. In case of possibile conflicts with mainline kernel, it will be easier to deal with. @brentr I could not test directly the board, since I don't have it. I built a rockpi-s image, it works and dmesg is clean, but you have to tell if rock-s0 works ok. Some other patches have been removed, as @Kwiboo suggested in the mentioned PR and refences to sound codec pcm5102a have been removed from the board device tree (there is no such codec mentioned in the official specs, is there?) and moved into rk3308-pcm5102a.dtbo device tree ov…

  10. Whilst the first mini PCs were relatively simplistic using low-powered Intel Atom processors with minimal memory, storage, and ports, more recent mini PCs have become so advanced they can challenge SFF builds for both performance and functionality. However, such mini PCs come with prices to match. Beelink has now released the MINI S which is a mini PC that goes back to the basics and is based on a cut-down version of their earlier Beelink U59 mini PC and priced to match. Beelink kindly sent one for review and I’ve looked at performance running both Windows and Ubuntu and compared it directly against the U59. 19. Description This is a resubmission of https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/6482 which was reverted in https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/6524 due to build errors. I don't know what exactly failed last time and my build tests this time run successfully just fine on Ubuntu 24.04. Maybe the error is specific to certain configurations and will return, so please don't merge until CI has done some tests and a build was successful. I have slightly improved this latest version by moving the function call to validate_dts in kernel.sh slightly further down after kernel_config ran since make expects a .config file. When Sipeed first introduced the Lichee RV module with Allwinner D1 RISC-V SoC last November, they also teased the Lichee RV-86, an “86 Box” with a 4-inch 480×480 touchscreen display, an XR829 WiFi and Bluetooth module, Ethernet (via USB), two microphones, a GPIO header, and support for WAFT (WebAssembly Framework for Things). I’ve just noticed the Lichee RV-86 has been for sale for several months, so it may be interesting to have a closer look, and now there’s also an option to get a 720×720 touchscreen display. 26. When we first wrote about the 10-cent CH32V003 RISC-V MCU it was offered in a $7 development board and the closed-source MounRiver Studio IDE had to be used for programming. 38. Some companies will churn out boards regularly but provide limited software support. Libre Computer seems to have taken a different approach, as they released most of their board in 2017 and 2018, starting with AML-S905X-CC “Le Potato” board based on the Amlogic S905X processor, followed by ALL-H3-CC “Tritium” SBC with Allwinner H2+, H3, or H5 processor, and finally ROC-RK3328-CC “Renegade” board, but still release upd…

  45. Description Uboot v2024.01 leaves HDMI/VOP and USB ports in a state that is not liked by vendor kernel tools (eg. the Multitool), thus making their usage difficult or impossible. These patches will assert the resets for HDMI, VOP and USB ports and deassert them on uboot exit, so the kernel (any kernel) will find them in active and "clean" state. Nerd note: the USB nodes in uboot device tree do not have the reset properties. Adding the reset properties makes the USB ports undetectable to the kernel because uboot - on purpose - leaves the devices with the reset asserted. To let the kernel detect the ports, you have to add the reset properties in the kernel device tree too…

I took the liberty to keep more of upstream than in Armbian 6.8, namely: I kept nodes at their upstream location to remove unnecessary work when syncing to the upstream keep "ethernet0 = &gmac;" in aliases, to let the ethernet MAC retrieved from OTP in u-boot apply. This will restore this feature (the u-boot was still functional). U-boot retried ethernet MACs are in u-boot printenv output "ethaddr" and "eth1addr". Seems for a few years I had the Linux kernel autogenerated one but my config still had the correct one commented (I did not find why it broke back then). I removed the overc…
