Booting ROCK Pi 4(A/B/C) with mainline u-boot in SPI, NVMe and Armbian v20.11.x
Hi, Piter Where do I download this file now? I’m using the bootloader rk3399_loader_spinor_v1.20.126.bin because I have a ROCK PI 4A+ with board version 1.74. rk3399_loader_spinor_v1.20.126.bin The SPI bootloader only works with a RADXA U‑BOOT — any version based on 2017.09.img. I want to upgrade to a newer, working U‑Boot for SPI booting. rockpi4a-uboot-trust-spi_2017.09.img.xz The latest Armbian image that works and boots from an SD card is Armbian 23.02.2 Rockpi‑4a current, with Kernel: Linux 5.15.93. Later images won’t boot from the SD card, even if I short pins 23 and 25. At the same time, upgrading Armbian 23.02.2 to the current Armbian 26.08.X (Kernel: Linux 6.18.X) works fine, and the board boots successfully. I found the latest U-boot for the ROCK PI 4, as well as for other boards, on GitHub. Here is the link and the actual U-boot archive. inindev / uboot-rockchip rk3399-rock-pi-4.zip All current ARMBIAN (26.08) images for Rock PI 4A start up with the new U-boot v2026.04

Vontar KK MAX / HK1 RBOX R2 / R3 - RK3566 4GB/32GB(or 64GB)
How did you determine this without holding the board in your hands? Without connecting the uart? The chips are located on both sides of the board. Assuming that h5anag8najr-wmc is a fake label and that the chip is 1Gbx8, the u-boot output on the uart should be Row=17 CS=2, not ROW=16 CS=1. Or am I wrong? If the board allows you to work with two ranks and the CS-1, A14, and A16 are present (on the board), then u-boot should display ROW=17, CS=2 Size=4096MB. BUT, the bootloader does not recognize the 2nd memory rank. https://github.com/hqnicolas/Rockchip-Library/tree/main/RK356x/rkbin - It is not possible to build rk356x_spl_loader_v1.xxx.bin, also known as the miniloader, using this link. There is no tools directory in this section. I managed to figure out how to assemble rk356x_spl_loader_v1.xxx.bin using different (rk3566_ddr_528MHz_ultra_v1.10, rk3566_ddr_780MHz_ultra_v1.10, rk3566_ddr_920MHz_ultra_v1.10, rk3566_ddr_1056MHz_ultra_v1.20, as well as rk3566_ddr_920MHz_v1.23, rk3566_ddr_1056MHz_v1.23.) I also managed to build u-boot - I'll have time to test it all. It's a pity that few people share information. P.S. If you look at https://github.com/hqnicolas/Rockchip-Library/blob/main/RK356x/u-boot/socfpga/rk3568_common.h, you'll see #define SDRAM_MAX_SIZE 0xf0000000, which limits the size to 4GB. Therefore, it is possible that u-boot is built with a 4GB SDRAM limit. However, I also assume that the memory could have been tampered with. I would benefit from obtaining U-boot's UART output from those with NT5AD1024M8A3 memory. Currently, I am considering three options. 1. U-boot is built with SDRAM_MAX_SIZE 0xf0000000 limitation 2. rk3566_ddr_xxxMHz_v1.xxx.bin - does not recognize the 2nd rank (2R) of Hynix h5anag8najr-wmc memory 3. Memory labeling is still fake

@Deoptimhow to build the current u-boot ? and how build MiniLoaderAll.bin? On the board, the 4 chips SK Hynix h5anag8najr-wmc is only detected as 4GB, but it should be 8GB DDR Version V1.08 20210520 ln ddrconfig:3 DDR4, 324MHz BW=32 Col=10 Bk=4 BG=4 CS0 Row=16 CS=1 Die BW=8 Size=4096MB wrlvl:clk skew:0x80,0x80

HELP- DQ08 RK3528 4Go RAM 64go SSD can't boot with multitool (with photos)
Is the Android LAN still working when using it? Has the LAN disappeared in armbian after the update? Due to changes in u-boot, kernel, and dtb. Buy a cheap vontar X3 (s905x3) TV box - everything works on it and the LAN speed is 1000Mb.

Buying advice: H96 Max V56 or X88 Pro 20?
If you don't need GPIOs, don't take SBCs - they are too expensive, without a case and power supply. For the same money, you can buy a mini X86 PC such as razen5 4600 and you will have no problems with support. If you need an ARM, then buy an H96 Max V56 from two TV boxes. The time of SBCs has come to an end - they are no longer so popular and are mainly needed by developers. Leave these SBCs to the developers!

s905y4 tvbox armbian image download please???
This soc s905y4 is already 5 years old - it is already old. I only know one person who supports linux on amlogic. Arbmian developers are not interested in support TV boxes, as it does not pay. No one is ready to work on enthusiasm. Therefore, do not wait for the support of these TV boxes. If amlogic, then I advise you to take TV boxes on soc s905x3 - armbian works on them.

RK3566 and Armbian
Therefore, if you do not need GPIOs, it is better to buy a mini PC than an SBC. People buy TV boxes for Linux precisely because of the cheapness. Few people need SBCs. Most people need a small device in a box for a minimal price. Why buy a banana pi M5 pro for $ 195, which will stop support in a few years, when you can buy x86 mini PC with this money and not know the problems with support? Can you name the reasons why it is worth buying an SBC instead of a mini PC?

s905x3 vs rk3566
If you don't need GPIOs and you're not a developer: don't buy SBCs as long as their prices are higher than the TV box. For the same price, you can buy a mini PC and it will be better than SBC. I advise you to buy a TV box on SOC s905x3. 1) You will be able to install Linux for your purposes. 2) As well as being able to use an android set-top box, amlogic is better in this regard. P.S. I believe that 90% of users do not need SBC, since they do not use GPIO, camera, ports for connecting the screen and the like. Many users need a cheap headless server. There are high-quality and inexpensive TV boxes for these purposes. In addition, for the price of banana pi m5, you can buy a mini PC that will work faster. SBC is a device for developers. For those who then make TV boxes and tablets. For ordinary users, SBC is unnecessary. The SBC manufacturer needs to pay attention to the user's need, which is: 1. SD card, emmc or M2. 2.LAN 1000/100 3. Wi-fi/BT 4. USB 3.0 5. 2/4/8 GB RAM The rest 90% of users do not need and therefore they will buy either a TV box or a mini PC as it is more profitable for the price
