I'm on the Olimex Teres running the newish Armbian Ubuntu 20.04 and I'm having a lot of trouble with the system intermittently freezing or slowing. Kernel 5.4.43 . I have a video of the issue and an image of the drive. The system isn't online to sync clock and dates may be skewed by some days. My usual routine is to boot the system into multi-user, run asciinema, run tmux, and then edit files with vim inside both. The issue starts after a bit. CPU and I/O usage stay low during the delays in responsiveness. Sorry if I am kinda irritated and frustrated in the video. I've been dealing with a lot of issues. I'm curious what systems the maintaine…

Hi, I installed the desktop focal version of armbian in orange pi pc. It boots correctly but after install lvm2 and restart, it does not boot. If I don't restart the orangepi the lvm volumes works fine, but after reboot or shutdown it not boot. The steps I made: Install on sd with ubuntu (restore image directly). Start the orangepi pc. That's work. sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo shutdown -r now Here it works and boot correctly: sudo apt-get install lvm2 sudo shutdown -r now Here dont boot the orange pi: The log in serial console is: ***************************************************************** …

Is there anything that can be done about it? Something will start(e.g. minisatip, mumudvb) to disproportionately use the cpu and after a short time it will crash completely. A similar configuration works well on an OPI PC(Linux orangepipc 4.10.1-sun8i #1 SMP Sun Mar 5 18:47:02 CET 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux), but with newer versions it behaves just as incorrectly. I've tested other images (ubuntu, debian), but it's the same everywhere.

On the Orange Pi Zero Plus the pwm1 port is available on the header instead of pwm0. Ik have tried to create a custom overlay but it does create a pwm device but it is not working. pwm1 is on PA6 I have created a folder: overlay-user in /boot In this folder I created a sun50i-h5-pwm1.dts file with the following content: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun50i-h5"; fragment@0 { target = <&pio>; __overlay__ { pwm1_pin: pwm1 { pins = "PA6"; function = "pwm1"; }…

Hi everyone, I'm facing a problem with logrotate on my OrangePi Zero with Armbian Focal mainline. Basically I have a process that is always running with a `tee` command that outputs the stdout to a log file in the /var/log/ directory. My logrotate configuration file looks like the following: /var/log/smartbit/gocpp.log { rotate 10 daily compress missingok notifempty copytruncate dateext } It's all working correctly except the copytruncate part: logs are daily rotated and gzipped but the gocpp.log is not truncated to 0 bytes, so it gets bigger and bigger. I noticed that in this new Armbian version logrotate is not triggered…

Hi guys! I am making a separated network to connect my OPi3 to my old notebook to run some codes of my research. So, the problems is with ethernet connector in Orange Pi 3 that when I connect the cable from OPi3 to my switch LEDs just flash slow and in big intervals. When I try to ping from OPi3 to computer the ping just happens after big time later. I verify the cable and the switch with other devices (my personal notebook and my notebook from work). Everything is ok and running well. One thing blow my mind: when I connect cable from OPi3 directly to my notebook the LEDs of ethernet of OPi3 works normally but in the armbian the networks not alway…

Hello. I have an Orange Pi Zero board with Armbian on it. I want to use its serial pins for flashing arduinos. Right now I only have 1x3 serial pins and 1x13 media (?) pins soldered, the 2x13 GPIO doesn't have any pins and I don't have any spare ones to solder (alright, I might have some, but I'm too lazy for that). That means I only have access to UART0 pins which are currently reserved for Linux console. With RPi Zero and Raspbian the same problem was solved by simply removing "console=ttyAMA0,115200" from kernel options. However, Armbian seems to generate kernel options entirely from armbianEnv.txt, making it impossible to manually remove ser…

I am really confused about how to connect an LVDS monitor to the board. We used 3.x legacy kernel and used a .fex file for this in the past. But it is time to move to mainline, and it is confusing me. Since LVDS is not plug and play, we need to tell the parameters of the screen somehow. That is clear. I found several ways of pushing parameters to the system: 1. Compile into kernel 2. Compile into U-boot 3. Device Tree 4. Device Tree Overlay 5. Kernel command line According to these articles i have to compile them into U-boot: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/1905-enabling-lcd-in-u-boot-kernel-472/ ht…

I have an Olinuxino A20. Armbian has no HDMI sound and the video playback is a bit painful. This doesn't happen on Libreelec and, from my understanding, it's partly due to some kernel patches that they applied. Is it possible to use Libreeleec's kernel on armbian? If so, can someone guide me a little on how to do it? Thank you very much.

Hi, I am having a strange problem with my Orangepi One, I previously had a python script which was run on login using .bashrc. The python script controlled VLC using the python bindings and hence I could not use crontab -e or rc.local as they are run in the backgound. Previously .bashrc worked without any issues however either I updated VLC or armbian and now it does not run after I login (even using an autologin). Strangely enough however if I login via SSH the script runs. To access it I use : sudo nano /home/user/.bashrc To run the script I append to the end of the file without making any adjustments: echo Runnin…

Hi, Just as my last post. I want to know if it is possible to wakeup opi3 after I switch its state to "mem" or "disk" using gpio on CON12. I have doing some reasch but I don't know if it is right: PL/PM port can be used as wakeup source. PF/G/H/L/M port support interrupt event. PC/D didn't support interrupt. But when I try to write a device tree file, but it just report some error with error code -22. My device three is like this: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun50i-h6"; /* * This fragment is needed only for the internal pull-up activation, * external pull-up resistor is highly recommended if using long wires */…

Hi, I want to use a gpio in CON12 to wakeup orange pi 3. But I can not figure it out. I am using armbian 5.4.43. I have done some researh about this question. It seems the basic process shoule be: 1、choose the right pin to wakeup. Cause some pins can not support interrupt and wakeup event. But I can not find which gpio support wakeup event. It seems I should choose pin on PL or PM ports. But according the schmatic, lots of them have been used as other usages: PIN DEFINE CFG PL0 PMU-SCK 3 PL1 PMU-SDA 3 PL2 RECOVERY …

Hello! I try to turn on usb gadget mode on my OPi. For example g_ethernet, or g_midi. Read many posts, but still don't understand what I should do. Is it possible to turn on gadget mode without compiling my own armbian? Also, I had found on this forum info that legacy roms already have OTG support from the box. Is it true? May be somebody knows tutorials of how to turn on usb gadget mode?

I'm not familiar with the a64 graphics driver and some tty graphics software of mine is failing on Armbian Ubuntu Focal after working fine on the Bionic image. Is this new error something anybody knows about or could give a link to find a possible driver change that's responsible? Hi all, everytime I turn on my Nano Pi it will sync the clock using NTP. When network is not enabled it will rewind the time to something that I still can't comprehend. I found lots of topics about people talking about how to add a RTC to the system, but none talking about the current RTC that is recognized by the kernel. Currently when the system is powered off and on (10 seconds distance) without network the time will rewind between 5 and 15 minutes. I understand that this happens because there is no RTC to write the current clock and battery to keep it. But there is obviously a RTC somewhere because removing power from the device and putting it back will keep a wrong b…

I have recently updated to Armbian Focal (Ubuntu 20.04). My Banana Pi M1 is running an apache server + some digital amateur radio stuff. So upload speed is important. My average download and upload speed as measured with speediest-cli is 45Mb/sec and 18Mb/sec respectively (wired connection to modem) With Focal I get these speeds with Buster (Debian 10) the download speed is still 45Mb/sec but the upload speed drops to 3.4 Mb/sec. These results are not one off but consistent. The am64 version of Buster does exactly the same thing.. My question is : can I change this with programming or is it a fixture in the kernel ? Can someone enlighten me please ? Rein

Hi, I've managed to install Armbian_20.05.2_Orangepiplus2e_focal_current_5.4.43_desktop on my board. Now I'd like to get decent web-browsing performance (i.e. 1080 videos on a browser) and I've tried installing the mali drivers with no luck. Is there an updated guide that works with the latest version of armbian? Thanks in advance

Hello, I'm having problems trying to boot armbian (Armbian_20.05.2_Orangepiplus2e_focal_current_5.4.43.img.xz) on this Orange Pi Plus 2e board. Hi, I have found a problem when I reboot my NanoPi Neo, related to WiFi + BL device which is plugged in USB 2.0 port. The WiFi device is a Realtek 8821cu and system loads driver correctly when I do a cold boot or if I hot-plug it, but it fails in a warm boot. After doing many tests, I realized that if I plug the WiFI dongle in a non-powered USB 2.0 hub and I connect this latter to the NanoPi Neo's USB 2.0 port, then it also works. I don't have anymore idea to solve it. The 8821cu driver fails because WiFi device shows itself like powered down.

Hello Team, I am worked on Olimex Lime2 rev.G2 board but now olimex start delivering Rev.K board. I used the same Armbian Rev 5.35 image which is having kernel version (4.13.16-sunxi) & u-boot version v2017.09. On Rev.G2 Ethernet speed was as expected but in rev.K it is not working. By default board booted and comes with ethernet speed 100Mbps, but in this case Ethernet is not working (DHCP server unable to assign ipv4 address to eth0). Later i reduce the eth0 speed to 10Mbps it start working as expected but spped is 10Mbps Some more info about the ethernet issue which will help to understand the issue more clearly - …

Hi, I use BananaPro on Armbian Strech or Bionic, I try to use the GPIO python library (for bananapro from LeMaker github) gpio.add_event_detect() or GPIO.wait_for_edge(channel, GPIO.RISING) This usually disconnect my network and the event is never detected. I have to reboot the PI to restore the state. Also, a normal read/write state GPIO.input(PIN_NUM) works perfectly... I try this : https://forum.armbian.com/topic/3249-bananapi-m1-gpioadd_event_detect-not-working-after-switch-to-vanilla-kernel/ but not work. My python script work fine on Bananian on the same bananaPro. thank for your help.

Hi there, with Armbian Buster "OOB" (+update) I have following problem on Orange Pi 3: - Firefox (with language Polish) does not play network radio: https://www.rmfon.pl/play,25#p , - at the same time: - there are /dev/snd/ files, only for HDMI, but I have read that currently there is no driver for H6 audio, so I may expect at least ALSA is working, - VLC plays MP3 files correctly, (but it can play with pulse and ALSA), - pulseaudio is not started / configured / present. What should I do?

Greetings! It's not a influential or serious bug. I couldn't control the LEDs on Orange Pi One Plus by the command setleds, So I navigated to /sys/class/leds, and there are two items: orangepi:green:status@ and orangepi:red:power@. I tried to do echo 255 > brightness respectively and found that: orangepi:green:status@ controls the RED LED, while orangepi:red:power@ controls the GREEN LED. Please tell me if it's a minor bug or an intentional setting, thank you.

This topic has been discussed earlier but there is not concrete mechanism explained to achieve this. Ideally I would like to display a boot logo or boot splash during startup. The device is Orange Pi Plus 2e. As per experience and as mentioned on this forum earlier plymouth was not useful in this case. I tried to set logo="enabled" in /boot/armbianEnv.txt but this doesn't help. When Armbian loads for first time on the device from the image downloaded from this site, it displays 'Initializing Boot Loader' logo image. Pretty cool!!! Can we have something like this for a custom image displayed each time on reboot. I under…

Dear community, Im trying to get an USB gadget via OTG running on Linux (OrangePI Lite 2). As OPI Lite 2 doesn't support 'USB-UART/Gadget mode' like OPI Zero, I just modify the build config and rebuild kernel by myself as steps shown below. 1. I change the mode of USB from host to otg in the: https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/patch/kernel/sunxi-current/board-h6-orangepi-lite2-fix-missing-all.patch 2. I add MODULES_CURRENT="g_serial" & SERIALCON="ttyS0,ttyGS0" to build/config/boards/orangepilite2.conf file. 3. I rebuild the kernel and flashed the new image to sdcard. Unfortunately, I find it…

Hello, I am working on a project in which we need to use a Nanopi Neo Air (based on SoC Allwinner H3). In this project we need to use the USB serial interface to communicate with another part of the project. We need to configure the Nanopi Neo Air USB interface as a peripheral USB . Nanopi Neo Air's USB serial interface is configured by default as a USB host, and in "armbian-config" there is no way to change this configuration. The USB host (which is the other part of the project) will send data to the Nanopi Neo Air whenever there is new data. Is it possible to configure the Nanopi Neo Air as a peripheral USB? How can we do this configur…

Hi there, this is continuation of my previous thread about problems with my OPiPC+. 1). "OOB" Armbian Buster, looks working OK, not "ported" all soft / configs from another one. 2). Armbian Jessie upgraded up to Buster, mainly for mosquitto, OpenHAB2, PostgreSQL 11 (for logical replication). Now I have copied everything (only different UUIDS) from working /boot directory to the one with problems. (kernel, initrd, etc). What I do not understand, is fact, that on "good" HTOP shows 4 cores, on "bad" one only 1 core, performance is horrible (OpenHAB startup in minutes). OpenHab (I suspect) can cause whole system to hang - ping works but no…

Hi, I can boot off an SD card, but my Teres boots off internal storage to a black screen and I'm trying to figure out why. It seems even when I set verbose=7 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt, there is little to no kernel diagnostic output, even on a working SD card. I read on the debian wiki that u-boot-menu works on the Teres, but I tried installing this on an SD card and it prevents the SD card from booting (similarly to my internal storage booting issue). I've actually compared the contents of the unallocated space in front of the filesystem between the working sdcard and the internal storage, and they differ only in the partition table. Additionally …

I'm trying to set up an OPi Zero Plus 2 with Armbian Buster. As the board has no soldered USB connectors and mine is still in the mail, I was forced to do all this via the serial console via the three pins on the board. (So no nano or nmtui or anything that has an interface.) I run into a problem where a) I couldn't join my WiFi network and b) NetworkManager refused to believe I don't want to use IPv6. So I had to disable NetworkManager and go the wpa_supplicant route. So now I'm in the position that I got everything to work BUT I have to *manually* enable wpa_supplicant and then issue ifdown and ifup - all via the serial console - at every boot be…

I have attached a ssd1306 OLED display to the board, using i2c1 interface, using the luma.oled library as driver. import sys from PIL import Image from PIL import ImageDraw from PIL import ImageFont import subprocess from luma.core.interface.serial import i2c from luma.core.render import canvas from luma.oled.device import ssd1306, ssd1325, ssd1331, sh1106 from time import sleep serial = i2c(port=1, address=0x3C) device = ssd1306(serial, rotate=0) width=device.width height=device.height image = Image.new('1', (device.width, device.height)) # Get drawing object to draw on image. draw = ImageDraw.Draw(image) # Draw a black filled…

Hello Armbian team, I must start by thanking you for the effort you put into Armbian and making it possible for us to get the best of our boards. Your work is appreciated! The problem that I have been facing is that my OPI lite 2 functions correctly when it boots, but after a while I see a couple of sunxi-mmc errors in the logs and the filesystem becomes inaccessible and the board unusable. The log entries look like this: [ 750.827959] sunxi-mmc 4020000.mmc: data error, sending stop command [ 751.824422] sunxi-mmc 4020000.mmc: send stop command failed I cannot pinpoint the source of the problem as multiple issues seem to play a role in the…

I cannot use my dmesg in a normal way anymore. It is flooded by these messages: [ 2828.613264] sunxi_i2c_do_xfer()985 - [i2c0] incomplete xfer (status: 0x48, dev addr: 0x48) [ 2828.613724] sunxi_i2c_do_xfer()985 - [i2c0] incomplete xfer (status: 0x20, dev addr: 0x48) [ 2828.613906] sunxi_i2c_do_xfer()985 - [i2c0] incomplete xfer (status: 0x48, dev addr: 0x48) [ 2828.614101] sunxi_i2c_do_xfer()985 - [i2c0] incomplete xfer (status: 0x48, dev addr: 0x48) [ 2828.614485] sunxi_i2c_do_xfer()985 - [i2c0] incomplete xfer (status: 0x20, dev addr: 0x48) [ 2828.614660] sunxi_i2c_do_xfer()985 - [i2c0] incomplete xfer (status: 0x48, dev addr: 0x48) [ 2828.61483…

I started compiling some project (snowboy ) on the nanopiDuo2 like I am doing on the FriendlyCore 16.04 and suddenly the board stop working/booting. The red led is blinking fast, the same sd card is working on different boards, FriendlyCore does not boot on this board. "provide a log from serial console" I don't have serial cable yet. This happened to me twice, on Armbian 18.04 and on 20.04. First it destroyed the "IoT-2G Application Carrier Board for NanoPi Duo2" that it was on without the board, and the carrier had burnt smell, internet cable and power were connected. For one of them the red led is blinking fast, for the other the led do…

Hi all, Firstly, I want to say that I'm new to Armbian and embedded Linux. I have tried searching the solution for my problem on various sites but I haven't had any luck. I am using a Nano Pi Duo 2 (H3) board with Armbian Buster to communicate with another device through UART1 (TX1, RX1). I am able to communicate at 115200 bps with no problem. However, I need the baud rate to be at least 230400 bps (ideally 921600) for my application. I'm using WiringNP library. When I changed to those baud rates and performed a simple feedback test (shorting TX/RX), I can receive the data. But when I connect it to another device, the communication does not funct…

I had a rather crazy idea (in my opinion) of trying to hook up a bluray drive to an Orange Pi Zero Plus that i have a spare of, then possibly set that up as an iscsi target with LiO to create a network attached BD drive. However, I'm already stuck even getting the BD drive to work with the OPi in the first place. I have the optical drive hooked to an externally powered USB 2.0 to ATA bridge (has a SATA port on it as well, this hardware config was tested in windows and worked great) and that's plugged into the single USB port on the board. The problem i seem to be having (not entirely sure I'm correct, very new at this) is that sr_mod is not enabled or present. T…

Hi , I just move my banana pi pro which was running bananian up to now to buster minimal. I'm using it as domoticz server. It requires few usb port to have all my gateway working. So I need to make USB OTG running in HOST mode. I did lot of testing, read many thread, but quite stuck right now. Here is what I have already done : First I have activated in DTB usb@1c13000 , and change mode to host. I have also activated usb0-vbus. I added also regulator-boot-on in usb0-bus. and last test I did is adding usb0_vbus-supply = < 0xb1 >; in phy@1c13400. For those who may need later on, here is the command I did: …

Hello, We are using Orange Pi Zero with Armbian Bionic with Linux 5.4.20-sunxi armv7l GNU/Linux we are facing a problem, our orange pi heats up some time during processing and then freezes. We can ping the devices, but ssh stops working and all the application don't respond We followed the suggestion in thread: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/7848-mysterious-freeze-and-overheat-of-orange-pi-zero/?ct=1587196371&_fromLogin=1 But output of "armbianmonitor -m" is as below Stop monitoring using [ctrl]-[c] Time CPU load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU C.St. 11:19:37: 1008MHz 0.18 6% 1% 4% 0% 0% 0% 76.4°C 0/4 11…
