Hi, I am trying to write a program which will detect the presence of SD Card in Nano Pi M1 plus device. There are many ways to do this either by doing fdisk -l or looking into /dev/mmcblk* . But I want to keep running it in a loop and doing fdisk -l and grep doesn't seems an appropriate way. Can the insertion or removal of SD cards be checked via Hardware Interrupts? Plz. help me I am a newbie.

I recently ordered 3 A20-OLinuXino-LIME2-e16GB devices (with 16GB eMMC) and received rev. K boards. Unfortunately, I have troubles with both "official" Olimex eMMC rel 16 image and latest (as of last week) Armbian Stretch images. Both images booted fine from SD card (also tried multiple SD cards, one of them bought from Olimex ) and I was able to run the emmc.sh / nand-sata-install scripts fine. Now the troubles started as I turned off the device, removed the sd-card and tried to boot from eMMC. All 3 boards had entered FEL mode. From fel mode I was able to use the `sunxi-fel` utility and push the uboot fine... Initially I was able to g…

I've tried both revisions (Bionic and Stretch) for this board located at: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ Both have the same issue. When I boot from sd card, run armbian-config, and attempt to transfer armbian OS to emmc I get an error 'no target'. I know that there is indeed built 8GB flash, because when I pull the sdcard, and power the board it boots into the pre-configured android OS. Here is a picture I took of the board: https://photos.app.goo.gl/5ELPTTnPbZXAybhe9 Any advise would be helpful. Thank You.

Hello, The NanoPi Neo 2 has an H5 SoC. When I look at the Linux mainlining effort chart at Sunxi, I see that Ethernet support for the H5 only came in the 4.15 kernel. But the kernel in the Armbian downloads for the NanoPi Neo 2 only have the 4.14.y kernel. So can one expect the GbE to work, on a NanoPi Neo 2, with the current Armbian (Bionic or Stretch)? Maybe you already backport the 4.15 Ethernet-related code (for the H5) into that 4.14.y kernel?

Hello community! I use in my project "Orange Pi Zero Plus (Alwinner H5 - 512mb)". When using the image downloaded from the official site (https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-plus/ - Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y), I get a set of errors when I boot and when I use the working OS, which I'm straining. The same mistakes I get if I build the kernel and the OS myself through "build" (linux-sunxi64-next). Hi, After installing latest version of Armbian 5.59 Stretch, I found that CPU temperature was shooting up too high, and I figured out that the GPIOL6 controlling the VDD_CPUX between 1.1V and 1.3V is not set properly as a result the Pullup resistor R455 is holding the FET gate always high and it is always running by default at 1.3V, even though scaling_max_freq was set 912MHz. After manually switching the GPIO to OUTPUT_LOW the temperatures aren't going that high anymore. Just thought the DEVs should know. Thanks

I am running a relatively new install (few months) on a replaced microSD (RMA). Keep in mind this is a headless install. At random, usually after many days / weeks+ the orangepi appears to freeze. What I mean with freeze: - samba shares disconnect - sometimes SSH works till the password is submitted, then it times out - sometimes http works when I hard restart it - I always see a very high temp & in some logs I had seen some weird dates, so I set to write out date & temp and I got this beauty on the next freeze: Spoiler date: Sun Sep 30 13:27:03 2018 -- temp: 41.99 date: Sun Sep 30 13:28:…

Checking in... NanoPi-NEO v.1.31 with the OLED hat... need to be a bit specific as there are multiple HW revs of the NEO - v1.2 and later moved from LDO to a DC/DC regulator, so info from 1.0/1.1 might not be accurate these days - still sorting out the regulator in use, as there are a couple of options with Allwinner H3 there. I think it's the SY8113B, but hard to tell... Testing with Armbian 5.61 vs. FriendlyArm's 4.14.52 build for their OLED hat (I'd source a direct link, but they have two source - baidu and google drive) -- The friendlyarm image is pretty good with temps on the 4.14.52 kernel, typically around 31-33c idle, and I've not seen temp…

hi, I had a few Orange Pi Zero's lying around for a while and thought of putting them to some use. I was trying to find an image for Orange Pi Zero H2+ over here ( at Armbian Orange Pi downloads section ). I couldn't find the image for Orange Pi Zero H2+. There are images for H3 and H5 on that page. Can someone please point to the appropriate image for this board? Thanks a lot.

Hey guys. I need your help. Since I'm new to linux I don't know what happened and what to do. Latest armbian was installed on my eMMC. Today at morning I woke up and logged in by ssh to my orange pi pc plus and get 'input/output error' for every single command. I've tried to reboot it by powering off and on and after that I could not log in by ssh. (and I noticed that green led not blinking and ethernet port green and orange LEDs was constantly on) I've inserted 16gb SD card with latest armbian installed on it and it works by booting from it(green led is blinking, ethernet port LEDs are also blinking, everything is ok). I've tried to list partitions a…

I'm trying to configure the RTL8189FTV module on an Orange Pi+ 2E in SoftAP + STA mode so I can use it as wifi hotspot. According to this old document from Realtek (http://www.ofeixin.com/downloadRepository/8da8dda7-6721-4ac8-a7db-47cc4d9b218c.pdf), it's possible to do so using an RTL8189ETV, so I'm assuming it's possible on the RTL8189FTV, too. The default driver doesn't allow concurrent connections like this, tho, so it must be recompiled. I downloaded the source recommended on the sunxi wiki (http://linux-sunxi.org/Wifi#RTL8189FTV): git clone https://github.com/jwrdegoede/rtl8189ES_linux.git cd rtl8189ES_linux git checkout -B rtl8189fs origin/rtl8189f…

Hello, I use armbian latest version on a Orange Pi Zero (256Mb) to send data from usb to network. I use Ser2net for this to stream data from a rflink device. To test I use a Metrix bench power supply, so i think power is ok. If I reboot the device with usb plugged the boot fail, so i have to boot without usb plugged and then plug usb and restart ser2net daemon to make it work. I think boot is searching for usb device, is it possible to disable this ? Next the board crash every 2 or 3 days, network stop responding and soc heatsink goes hot. I restart the device and it's good for 2 or 3 days, and crash... If it help armb…

Hello! Sorry, I can't speak english well! A year ago, I buy my Orange Pi PC, and download last image of Armbian, and it work's well. But yesterday, I update my system through apt-get, and notice that there be some kernel packages. There was packages, with "sunxi" or "sunx7" in his names, don't remember well. After this, my Pi stop to working. No SSH, no image from HDMI too. I download new images from https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ try both Bionic and Stretch. But both of them don't work. There was an old image, Xenial with kernel 3.4. It works well, but my wifi adapter doesn't work with this kernel. But this adapter, worked with …

I am sorry but even after long searching I could not find out how to enable internal pull up resistors in an A20. I am on a BananaPro with Bionic, kernel 4.14.70. I want to use the pull ups on I2C-1. Presumably it is quite easy. I know that internal pull resistors are usually too weak for I2C, but the I2C is only connected to an external level shifter since all connected I2C devices have 5V lines. So the internal resistors should be sufficient, and the expansion board is working reliably on an old Rapsberry model B with internal pull ups. So, how can I enable internal pullups? The I2C-1 overlay seems not to have an option for that. Can it be done via dev…

Armbian_5.59_Nanopineo2_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.14.65.img does not see the sound codec at all. The status matrix here: http://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort#Status_Matrix tells that Audio Codec should be supported since kernel 4.12 on H3 (H2+ is the same, as far as I know). But Armbian does not see the audio codec nor on NanoPi Neo2 (H5), nor even on on NanoPi Duo (H2+), although all the img files I used have 4.14 in their name. However, even with FriendlyElec's own image nanopi-neo2_ubuntu-oled_4.14.52_20180628.img there is a different issue - the sound is mono instead of stereo! I tried speaker-test: speaker-test -…

I've been using an OrangePi Zero hw rev. 1.5 for a few months with no issues, using the Stretch mainline image (4.x kernel). Suddenly the filesystem became read-only. I thought it was a SD card issue so I burned a fresh armbian to a new card. But the device does not show up in the DHCP pool with an allocated IP. Being withought a HDMI connector, an OPi Zero must be accessed via SSH. I've tried all versions, mainline and legacy. Only with Jessie legacy image, it gets an IP from the DHCP pool just on the very first boot. After that, it does not show up. I've tried the images provided by OrangePI and their Ubuntu and Raspbian images work. They have Ub…

Hi guys, I was running my Orange Pi Zero Plus perfectly on the dev channel but I did an apt upgrade the other day and it seems to have broken something. I hooked it up to a usb serial device and here's the log: https://pastebin.com/jiB9TZdh Any ideas on how I can fix this? I can interrupt the boot process and I get to a screen where I can run limited commands but I'm not sure what to do at that point. I'm thinking it might be easier to just reflash and start again. This post is mainly for the devs to let them know there might be an issue with one of the kernels? Cheers.

Hi, Today I encountered for the second time a strange behavior on my Orange Pi PC running Armbian 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi and decided to ask here. The OPI PC is working properly for a few weeks (one to three, typically) and suddenly I cannot access it via SSH or UART anymore. When trying to connect with SSH, the connection hangs after entering the password and after a while the connection timeouts. Tried SSHing from regular Linux shell and from PuTTY under Windows. I regularly use a key to log in the Opi PC, but it doesn't work, too. Trying to connect with the UART (via minicom in Linux or PuTTY in Windows) …

Hi, I recently read from github testings of orange pi lite2 testing that wireless is working. But I download from the official website of https://dl.armbian.com/orangepilite2/Debian_stretch_dev_nightly.7z(built 0824) and burn it, it starts, but the wireless is missing. I also read that the firmware added ap6255 wireless driver, so I download https://beta.armbian.com/pool/main/a/armbian-firmware-full/armbian-firmware-full_5.59.180915_all.deb and installed it. After reboot, the wireless is still missing. So the support of wireless is built-in or usb? Should I build armbian myself with the lastest code to support the built-in wireless? Thank you.

orange pi one H3 idles somewhat warm in part due to a power regulator that switches only between 1.1 and 1.3 v. orange pi pc could idle at pretty low temperatures (closer to room without a heat sink due to a better power regulator as well), and the h3 runs rather hot say > 70deg C when under loads the trouble is the SOC die is 14x14mm, and if one wants to use a large heat sink, it wouldn't fit and you would need to use the copper shim method, to provide some clearance to fit a large heat sink that is troublesome and hence , i made do and made an attempt to try out *small* heat sinks, e.g. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-Computer-Cooler-Rad…

I'am running the latest Stretch server version on a PiOne (Linux 4.14.65-sunxi). I think that something is going wrong with the logrotate. The rotation is done in /var/log.hdd directory (see also the scripts in /etc/logrotate.d/). But the original file of each is in /var/log directory and is not "cleared" after the rename, because it is not renamed. So, if Zram copies /var/log directory to the /var/log.hdd directory, the original file in /var/log with old logging and included new logging is written to the /var/log.hdd directory. In the next logrotate this growing file is compressed. In this situation/in my case the compressed files contains all the loggings and no…

I was searching for a UPS for the Banana classic and then saw you just can connect a battery to it. What i can't find information about if it needs to be unprotected or if i can use my protected Keeppower 18650 Li-Ionen's that i already have for my flashlight anyway. And is there anything special i need to do in Armbian? Just connect the battery and it works? Hard to find information :-(

Dear all, My small server based on the Cubietruck board and Armbian OS (ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi) runs flawlessly since over 2.5 years now. And I am very happy with this setup. Lately, I installed a battery (5.3 Ah 3.7 V) in order to have the server a bit portable. The battery. driven system runs approx 9 - 10 h. Since I want to prevent that the battery drains out completely I configured the following cronjob: */15 * * * * /home/ncuser/nc_batt_cap_shutdown.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 The content of the script looks as follows: #!/bin/bash ### Script idea taken from: # http://www.schulz-alex.de…

Previously there is a fex files to enable or disable some features such as onboard wifi, mali, hdmi and other. now I found no ways to disable it, overlays does not include this features. Hi when I use the orangepi PC plus TRRS audio output (analog), I have some glitches which are linked to the video mouvment. I've tested the connection between ground and video and it seems that on the left ground pin there is a natural link with video output (50 ohms), is this normal? my cable is a 4 pole TRRS. I even tested audio with cable directly plug on soldering but same result. How could I get a clean audio output? note that the hdmi audio output is clean. and my speaker system is clean if I plug it on a MP3 player with an audio jack. I use retrorangepi 4.2 which is based upon Armbian v5.54 (default legacy kernel)

Hi folks, I am trying for couple of days now to put Lime1 to sleep and then wake it up, both by software and user interaction. Problem description: I am able to put board to sleep with any of the following commands: rtcwake -m standby -s 10 echo "standby" > /sys/power/state When device is on battery I can see it consuming ~0.7A while it works normally and once i execute one of the above commands it drops down to about ~0.25A leading me to conclusion that device has indeed in sleep. Here is how I ran rtcwake to make sure RTC clock is up and running: root@lime:/etc/systemd/system# hwclock -w root@lime:/etc/systemd/system# hwclock M…

Hello fellas, I would like to borrow your experience to compete with my task which counts (and measures) pulses on GPIO with Orange Pi zero. Currently, my simple solution is to register a callback to a specific edge and increment a global variable. I would like to catch a few hundreds of pulses in one burst which have in a 5-100 us length. However, even the number of counted pulses is not okay. Some of them are missed sometimes, which leads to an unreliable solution. I used different libs and all of them fall into the same issue. I tried the following libs: * ArmbianIO (C) * ArmbianIO (Python: origina…

I'm trying to boot my Nano Pi Neo 2 from the network but I am a bit stuck. I have found out how to add network support to u-boot for the Nano Pi Neo 2, I can set the serverip and perform the dchp command, the Nanopi neo get's an IP address from the DHCP server but then booting halts with the message that it can't find the file. I test in Orange pi lite libMali.so, both X11 and framebuffer. Xenial' X11 mode tests by glxgears fps is around 250-270 but Jessie is around 400-420, billiard game that use Opengl is noticable different. For framebuffer, I use retroarch that also noticable slow in Xenial. Anyone know why Xenial libMali is slower than Jessie?

The software download page for the Cubietruck only has the new Armbian Stretch images available to download, are the images for the previous version Armbian Jessie still available to download? I'm thinking of updating to Stretch but would like to have the option of going back to Jessie. I have tried searching but to no avail. Thanks.

No sound via the hdmi port to hdmi tv port however I can use headphones with the 3.5 mm audio jack and it works fine. Not sure if my board is broken either. I just got it. The only image that works with my orange pi pc plus is Armbian Stretch edition. The ones I have tried thus far are armbian xenial multimedia edition, retrorangepi, android 7 from orangepi website they all don't work haven't tried bionic armbian edition though. But that is for another post just thought to mention that. 1. Logs when you can boot the board: armbianmonitor -u https://pastebin.com/e5xb2gZD

OrangePi PC H3 UsbTV kernel driver causes complete system freeze on Armbian OrangePi PC kernel 4.14. Did anyone observed similar issues? I already reported a bug against the USBTV repo, but not sure if this is the right place. [Update: After quick response of Federico Simoncelli from the USBTV repo, I reported this bug to the kernel bugzilla as a new bug there] On x86_64 platform it works well. Is it the bug of Armbian or USBTV?

Hello, I'm looking for an efficient way to update the eMMC-memory of multiple NanoPi NEO Air's (roll out a production image). Dear mainline developers, I'm writing a (mainline) SPI driver for de ads131 from TI which I would like to make use of DMA, on the orangePIzero H2, zero+ H3/H5 and nanopi NEO2+. On the 4.13.3-sunxi kernel (armbian 5.33), this works fine, the driver is automatically loaded when the associated devicetree overlay is loaded, and the DMA can be allocated. However, when I compile the same driver for newer kernels (4.14.17-sunxi, 4.14.39-sunxi, 4.14.67-sunxi armbian 5.59), the dma allocation no longer appears to work, while the SPI part of the devicetree is identical except for the phandle (checked with dtc -I fs /sys/firmware/devicetree/base on newest 4.14.67-sunxi kerne…

My Cubieboard 2 absolutely refuses to boot from microSD. It will boot into Android from flash when there is no microSD card inserted, but with a card in, it just produces a single red LED and no video output. Eventually it will respond by flashing green and powering down when the power button is depressed, so I feel like it's getting somewhere, but those are the only signs of life. I don't know how to look at serial output from this machine. I've tried two different power supplies, and two different monitors because one had I think been dodgy with this machine before. Same problem on all permutations. I also tested the SD card with F3 and wrote it with Etcher, and I've us…

I just flashed https://dl.armbian.com/nanopiduo/Ubuntu_bionic_next.7z and it doesn't appear to detect the onboard wifi. ip a only shows lo and eth0. I'm going to try the expansion board with Ethernet onboard and see what shows up. OK, just tried this on a adapter board with Ethernet and now there's an eth0 and Wired Connection 1. It appears the eth0 is really the wifi adapter, but nmtui treats it like an Ethernet connection. Same issue with https://dl.armbian.com/nanopiduo/Debian_stretch_next.7z Wifi not detected, but eth0 is detected instead of wlan0.

Hi. I am having this issue with Orange PI PC. If it boots up when the TV it connects to over HDMI is off, I am getting blank pink screen. I guess it is because it chooses different video output when TV isn't detected. Raspbian forums suggest disabling "HDMI hotplug" by editing /boot/config.txt , but Armbian hasn't got this file. Please share your suggestions as this TV is on the wall in my kid's school at 2m height - and if it reboots due to short power failure, it needs a ladder to get fixed. Hi guys! I'd like to download the correct image for my Banana Pi M1, but I don't seem to be able to find it. I've been searching already for a bit without much luck. Is it supported? Am I missing something? Thanks!

Hi everyone, I'd like to ask and confirm: is there any working HDMI method with proper resolution currently for the Pi+2E, as of 5.59? I'm asking because I have tried next, I have tried dev, and I have tried the legacy kernel. None of them gave any satisfactory result at all. Mainline Kernel 4.14 -- There is HDMI graphics, but the resolution is stuck to no more than 1024x768. I read many times that this is the case when the HDMI was not detected. Kernel 4.18 -- Same thing as for 4.14. Though, as far as I know, the 4.17 should have support for HDMI. Has HDMI for H3 really landed in 4.17, or have I read wrong all over the place? …

Hello! There is a common issue with my Orange Pi PC +. I didn't find any solution for it. When I "shutdown -t 0" my device, it continues to consume power and the chipset is warm. Is it possible to turn the power off completely through the command line? Thanks in advance!

I compared two boards (opi zero h3 and opi zero plus h5) and found that cpu pins for 26 gpio are the same . so I modify the code in wiringPi about cpu detection to force return true value . and it works. the step: 1. git clone https://github.com/xpertsavenue/WiringOP-Zero 2. modify the code in WiringOP-Zero/wiringPi/wiringPi.c (or using the attached file to replace)。 3. make && make install 4. run "gpio readall " to test 5. run "gpio write 30 1" (the red-led on, wiringpi pin 30 control red-led status). wiringPi.c

Hi everybody, I am looking for some advice and help for troubleshooting. Here is the current situation regarding my cubietruck: I have installed Armbian Stretch (mainline kernel 4.14.y or 4.17.y) from here https://www.armbian.com/cubietruck/ on a SD-card using etcher on Ubuntu. If I power up the cubietruck 3 out of 5 times it won't boot. If it starts I can just fine ssh into the system and everything seems to be o.k. But after some time if I start to do something e.g. apt-get update / apt-get upgrade the system will freeze at some point. If i let the cubietruck on it's own it'll run for several hours without freezing. So the problem seems to be related eith…

Hi, I am new to the Armbian. I have build the kernel for BananaPi M2+ using the instruction specified in Armbian document for Building with Vagrant. I could see the output file "linux-image-sun8i-5.59.armhf.deb" in the "output/debs" folder. Know I don't know how to download or install this file on the SD card which is running on my bananaPi M2+. Bascically I need guidance on how to transfer my kernel build image from my windows PC to the SD card which I will be using to test the Bananapi M2+ board. Any help or documents will be highly appreciated.

I have tested the orange pi one xenial. When I say test it is not benchmark tests. I do not know what the numbers say anyway. I open several common programs and watch what htop says. If I run an mp4 file on a media player, libre office and file manager it runs well and htop says about 300mb. It is a 10usd computer and I do not expect it to equal a x86 desktop. If I open firefox, firefox crashes before starting. Because of not enough ram? If I open chromium or midori ram usage goes to 100%. Cpu does not. You cannot really browse sites very well. Youtube videos is the same. Is it becuase 512mb ram is not enough? On my gnulinux x86 n…
