Is it possible that there have been some image changes that broke the XR819 wifi completely? The available images for download on the Armbian page (5.3 server, and 5.4 minimal) as well as a custom built "legacy" branch linux-4.19 image all show the same behavior, The wlan0 interface is not active and it's not possible to bring it up. And dmesg shows that module has been initialized but not much more. Armbianmonitor support info: 5.3.9 official buster server image: http://ix.io/240Y 4.19.88 self-built, two days ago, legacy branch: http://ix.io/240U Everything below is from the official image, but the 4.19 image shows the exact same It is definitely not a h…

Hello, I am trying to apply the following configuration to my nanoPi Duo Core: * Boot from eMMC * System on SATA/USB (disk) When i try to find the eMMC device using the command "fdisk", I can only see the SD card and the disk that I added. My NanoPi duo core contains the eMMC memory but I am unable to find it. In addition to that, If I try to execute the script "nand-sata-install", only one option is available : boot from SD, system on SATA / USB. The other two options : "boot from eMMC / NAND, system on eMMC/NAND" and " boot from eMMC / NAND, system on SATA / USB" are not mentionned. Can someone help me w…

I bought an orange plate zero pi that I requested for a project. The issue is that I can not start the AP mode. I am making use of the hostapd and isc-dhcp-server packages, apparently everything is well configured, I am thinking that the problem is the chip driver of the wireless network. I put some relevant data, from now on thanks. root@orangepizero:~# /usr/sbin/hostapd /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf Configuration file: /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf nl80211: Could not configure driver mode nl80211: deinit ifname=wlan0 disabled_11b_rates=0 nl80211 driver initialization failed. wlan0: interface state UNINITIALIZED->DISABLED wlan0: AP-DISABLED …

Hi, I am trying to use an Orange Pi Zero as a headless music player running MPD connected to a USB DAC. I have everything set up and it works well, but now I would like to add a momentary push button connected to a gpio pin to enable me to soft shutdown the Orange Pi Zero. I've done the same with python scripts that I've found in the Rune Audio forum (which runs on Arch Linux) for the Raspberry Pi, but I understand that the Pi Zero pins are different from the Raspberry Pi. This is the script I used on the Raspberry Pi #!/usr/bin/env python2 import RPi.GPIO as GPIO import time import subprocess GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BOARD) #Select unused GPIO header pin…

Hi all, I'm new here, and first of all I want to greet you. Last week I got a brand new Banana PI M2+, and tried to install the latest armbian Image on SD card. So far so good, but the M2+ is not booting from SD card. Except I short press the uBoot button followed by the reset button. This means I only get the board booted after a power cycle, if I press the uBoot button before. Then I tried to boot the board from NAND, but it is the same. It only boots from NAND, if I press the uBoot button before. (Installed to NAND before, of course) To verfy that I do not have any hardware issue, I downloaded a original Banana PI M2+ Image from the Banana-pi…

Is it possible to add some gpio chip select for support more than one chip select on board ? I've installed Armbian again. Initially I logged in as root and 1234 password which worked. Then it asked to change the password. Something wen't wrong with it. My OrangePi PC boots fine and ok. When I open a terminal and try to do a "sudo this that" it asks my password and won't accept the one I gave, nor 1234. I've done the full installation a couple of times and same problem persists. Running apt-get dist-upgrade tries to install the new Allwinner H3 kernel but it takes the Orange Pi PC a really, really long time to extract and install it. The heartbeat LED flashed really fast and after 30 minutes I elected to stop it. Has anyone succeeded doing apt-get dist-upgrade today to get the new kernel on the Orange Pi PC or Orange Pi One, and, if so, how long did it take? The packages are: linux-firmware-image-sun8i linux-headers-sun8i linux-image-sun8i linux-jessie-root-orangepih3 linux-u-boot-orangepih3-default Thanks in advance for any information or advice.

Hi, I have a project to do and this consists of: Arduino board which work as frequency counter and OrangePi PC which will be some kind of server (mysql, python). The idea is to use UART port to communicate (send / recevie) datas from arduino to OrangePi using C, Java or python.. Here is my schema using LLC (converter between arduino and orangePC) (hope this will work ) Is there some example in C, python or java on how to use GPIO UART pin 8/10 on orangepi as serial port? For now I have installed library from: https://github.com/zhaolei/WiringOP and second for python from: https://github.com/duxingkei33/orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3

Hello! I tried to configure built-in wifi module to work as two wifi interfaces at the same time. I had already configured hostapd+dhcpd at the first interface, at the second interface (...iw add interface...) I could scan my home wifi network (wpa2), but I couldn't connect to it (wrong key). I used utilities to connect like wpa_cli, wpa_supplicant, iwconfig, iw. Did anybody done that, I mean is it possible? What i'm doing wrong?

Hi, So far was working with headless Armbian images. Now I need to attach an HDMI monitor to my OPi ONE. Generated a desktop Armbian 5.24 jessie kernel 3.4.113, attached the HDMI monitor and booted. I saw the inital seconds of U-Boot logging the discovery of the monitor and a few other things and then it went blank. I guess after some reading in the forum that there is no display manager included in the distro or is there some other problem? Is there some build option that we could include a manager (eg KDE/XFCE/etc) in the image generation proccess? Or if there is any guide that gives steps for adding a display manager in Armbian to a not-so-knowledgab…

I have two Orange PI +2E machines. The first one I got was a while ago so it's running a 3.4.113 kernel (16.04), the more recent one I purchased is running 4.19.13 kernel (18.04) - both are Ubuntu Armbian. I've noticed when I use the "shutdown now" command on the older pi, the board actually powers off but when I use the same command on the newer kernel board, it never powers down. The newer board appears to stop all services and eventually report that the system is halted but it remains in that state. Is there a way to enable it to power off after a "shutdown now" is issued? I'm wondering if this is a kernel difference but it may be something else completely. …

New toys to play The NanoPi Neo Core and Core2 are the Core-PCB without Connectors. Only Pin-holes in 2.54mm Pitch. But as the Pictures did show - there will be a Docking-Board like on the NanoPi Duo The price for the normal NanoPi Neo jumps from $7,99 to $9,99 and the new Neo Core now costs $7,99 (256MB and no eMMC) BUT has optional - also like the Neo Core2 (here 8GB default) - 8GB eMMC (512MB and 8GB eMMC = +$10 on the $7,99 Neo Core) The Neo Core2 does cost $24,99 but do have 1GB of Ram and (default) 8GB of eMMC (more options later). (long description show also - a obsolete? - option for only 512MB. But the board…

The orange pi zero has a USB OTG interface, which can be used to interact with it in the absence of networks and spare USB-UART converters. This is not enabled by default in the Armbian image. Here I describe how to modify the system image before first boot to enable this. First, mount the freshly written SD card on a linux computer, become root, and change directory to the mount point, that is, the root directory of the SD card. The following couple of steps were taken from https://oshlab.com/enable-g_serial-usb-otg-console-orange-pi-armbian/which describes how to enable this in a live system, i.e. after first boot. The steps are modified to work on the moun…

This may be one of those questions that should be considered dumb, but I'll risk your flames and ask regardless. Is the Orange Pi ONE GPIO Pin layout the same as the Raspberry Pi? I haven't found much specific to GPIO on the Orange Pi One, but I did see someone who said they were flipped 180 from the RPI. Before I attach a project and risk frying project and./or board, could you point me to a reference that specifies the layout of the GPIO pins on the Orange Pi ONE? And, like I said, I'm really sorry if this is the dumbest thing you've had to read all day. I have searched, but could not find much specific to the ONE.

Hello everyone, I've been trying to find a list of the differences between Armbian and a classic Debian Install. Could you please help me with that? I'm asking this question because I currently have Armbian running from an SD card on a Cubieboard 1, and would like to install Debian to an encrypted SATA drive instead. I think I will follow this installation guide with the netboot SD card image. Once I have a Debian for the armhf arch, is there something else I should do to make my system as compatible as possible with the Cubieboard? I know I can reduce the amount of reserved memory assigned to various video devices. I could maybe try to look into the Security …

Hello, just installed R1 image, solved power issues as described on this forum and now trying to configure it as classic home router. So I got a problem configuring DHCP server - system works in interfaces.r1 mode that means lan and wlan are bridged to wan. Wlan and Lan interfaces configured as manual that is not very handy, so I need to install DHCP server and make some NAT. And here goes a problem - I am not very skilled in linux networking and cant figure out how to combine NAT and R1 interfaces to get classical router behavior (externalDHCP-WAN-NAT192.168.0.1-internal DHCP-LAN and WLAN DHCP clients). Can someone give me directions? Maybe there is a way to install som…

Hi, I have just upgraded my BananaPi from Lemaker's Lubuntu 3.4 kernel to the latest Armbian with kernel 4.9 and I can't enable 1-wire to read ds18b20. I suspect the enabling procedure has changed? What I did was: 1. bin2fex /boot/script.bin > script.fex 2. vi script.fex Appended this section exactly as it was on my previous Lemaker kernel 3.4: [w1_para] gpio = 4 3. fex2bin script.fex > /boot/script.bin 4. reboot 5. echo 600000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq 6. modprobe w1_gpio 7. modprobe w1_therm 8. ls /sys/bus/w1/devices/ empty answer In the "known is…

I'm trying to configure the CS (Chip Select) pin on my Orange Pi Zero 3. I added overlays=spi-spidev to the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file, created my own dtbo file, and tried all possible methods suggested by ChatGPT. I've been struggling for two weeks with no success. I haven't been able to switch the CE1 pin to alt4 state; it only stays off, nothing else. Is it even possible to work with SPI on this board?

Hello everyone. This happens on my OrangePi after a couple of hours of running. I don't think this happened before installing the kernel 4.14. Hey. I got an orange pi zero + 2 that I'm trying to run armbian on. I've downloaded the both the ubuntu and debian server, and installed to the sd card using Etcher. It boots, but when the boot process reaches "starting kernel", it reboots, and keeps in that loop. Here's a link to a screenshot of what's shown on screen just before it reboots: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xt6ebsdzi0nkf19/Fil 19-02-2018 18.12.04.jpeg?dl=0 I've also tried the images listed on orange pi's own website. They boot up fine to a working desktop. Any help?

Hi, Did anybody play with Cedrus on the recent kernels? I'm going to play with it on Bananapi m1, kernel 5.4 and Ubuntu Bionic. Should I just got step-by-step using this instructions http://linux-sunxi.org/Sunxi-Cedrus ? The goal is to evaluate whether this is suitable solution for video surveillnace. I'd used kerberosio with an IP camera for couple years and this does not work good with motion detection.

I booted up my OPi0 + $2 expansion board this weekend after reading through the doc on it warning about TVout problems. Used the legacy Xenial 5.25 build available. I used the USB-serial method and logged in from my PC via SSH later over WiFi. On the TV there was no desktop GUI display, just the regular login prompts CLI. So this is not a RCA composite cable issue, but likely a display one...my TV is 720p. 1. On the TV I just got the login prompt after the text based Orange Pi Welcome screen. After logging in it stays text, as if I were in Terminal. I tried to install: $sudo apt-get xorg lightdm xfce4 tango-icon…

Hi, Firstly my thanks to the team for an outstanding job on ARMbian. I'm relatively new to this particular flavour, using it on my Orange Pi H2+ board with a few different builds under my belt now. Recently I have been having some troubles getting Pi-hole to work on the little Orange Pi board. Twice I have had it up and running perfectly, with full DNS and DHCP control of my home network, accommodating about 10 devices. However after about 6 - 12 hours of operation, they ceased to function. First time around I was not home to witness it, but when I returned later, the Allwinner chip was running pretty warm (around 60 degrees C core temp) and non-responsive, even to s…

Hi, I just wanted to report this bug. Latest Armbian Buster images for OPi Lite 2 don't work. When they're booted up, it takes 30 seconds for the device to freeze completely. The screen, keyboard, network, everything is frozen after less than a minute. I downgraded to a release from a month ago and it boots up correctly.

When I login on the console, there is this display with a bunch of information, including the CPU temp. I have need to keep track of my CPU's temp, since it seems to be overheating (I have a heat sink on it, but does not seem to be enough -- I have a fan on order). I want to be able to check the temp from time to time, so I would like to run at least the part of the login banner program. What program is that? I am not seeing anything obvious in /bin.

Hi All, Sorry if this has been asked before, I haven't been able to find the answer yet. I wish to configure my OrangePi's (Lite and PC+) such that they power on automatically whenever the power is restored after a power outage without needing to press the power button. I'm not sure where we could configure this as the OrangePi's don't seem to have a bios like a Desktop PC. Dave.

Hey everyone, First off, I don't use Linux often so please bear with me if I miss out on obvious things. I have a few Orange Pi Lite boards, and after booting up Armbian 5.14 I was excited to give the Wifi a try after only having ethernet on my Orange Pi One boards. My OPi Lite sees my network just fine, but when I put in my credentials and go to connect to it, it fails returning "Bad Password". For what it's worth, I've checked the password probably 25+ times, I promise it's right. The wifi WILL connect to open networks, however. Is there some obvious solution that I'm missing here? Any help or direction would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I understand that powering the Orange Pi Zero through the USB OTG interface is convenient but suboptimal due to low power, especially if you have other devices attached to the board. I've seen recommendations that powering the board directly via the 5V and GND on the GPIO from a clean and sufficiently powerful power supply is preferable. I know in theory what needs to be done but I don't know how to physically connect to the board. The GPIO is a 2x13 row of conductive holes in the board. (Is there a name for this sort of thing, by the way?) Say I have two wires, 5V and GND. How do I physically attach a wire to one a hole? Do I need to …

I am trying to control a relay board on OPI PC plus - armbian. I have used "orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3" module in python before to control leds, buttons and an 16x2 LCD. This is the relay. To control the Relay module i connected VCC to 5V, GND to ground and IN to PIN 35 (Which is PA10 on my board). and used the code below to open or close the relay just to test but no luck. The code does not return any errors, it runs and finishes but no activity on relay. Both leds (Red and Green) on relay are on when connected. Any help would be appriciated.

Hi! I look for this topic in every place at the internet but all of the topics are not related with my problem. I have a custom board based on the Lime2-emmc. It can boot from SD, but when I tried to copy the same u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin to the emmc and try to boot, nothing happends, the screen is empty. dd if=u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin of=/dev/mmcblk1 bs=1024 seek=8 boot from SD http://imgur.com/a/OHxzm When it boots from SD the u-boot shows both (SD on MMC0 and EMMC on MMC1) I´m using the A20-OLinuXino-Lime2-eMMC_defconfig with some mods to my board. My emmc is unit is KLM8G1GEME-B041 and is connected to the board like the emmc unit is connected…

Hi, I need to use uart (for a gps receiver) and i2c (for some sensors) for my project via the gpio pins. Fortunately i2c is enabled in the images by default. I hope it is also enabled if I recompile armbian for the orangepi lite by default? Afaik I have to enable UART in the following file: https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/blob/master/config/fex/orangepilite.fex . Unfurtunately I do not understand which pins on the gpio header correspond to the ports defined in this file. For example: Can I use UART on any pins on the gpio header? I would like to use UART on the same pins as in https://www.element14.com/community/servlet/JiveServlet/previewBody/73950-102-10-…

Hello. I have a problem with Orange Pi Zero LTS. I also have an expansion board and the required 3.5-jack cable. I have read many different forums and sites where people have described problems with video signal output. Often there are solutions such as: 1. Editing the file /boot/script.bin But this file does not exist. 2. They also talk about the launch of "tv". You need to add an entry to /etc/modules. But that doesn't work either, since ./tvout doesn't exist. As I understand it, in new versions there is no TV support, but there is no way to download old versions either. The latest version that can be downloaded is 5.59,…

I keep my Lime2 updated with apt-get update/apt-get upgrade, but it does not upgrade the u-boot, that is still an old version: U-Boot SPL 2015.07-armbian-sun7i (Oct 11 2015 - 17:17:10) DRAM: 1024 MiB CPU: 912000000Hz, AXI/AHB/APB: 3/2/2 Because the network speed is not that fast, I suspect this could be solved with a more recent u-boot. How do I update the Lime2 bootloader to a recent u-boot without re-downloading an image and re-installing all my software and data? It looks like there is already a recent u-boot.bin file on the system... # ls -l /usr/lib/nand-sata-install/a20/bootloader/linux/ -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 152 May 23 22:35 linux.ini -rw-r--r-- 1 root…

Hello It is funny that new kernels going out and kill what developers have made working on older kernels.. For example I have had no issues with GPIOs pull up in 5.1.15-sunxi64 kernel. On Kernel 5.1.15-sunxi64 I do not get those errors; Python: GPIO.add_event_detect(31, GPIO.RISING, callback=count1) RuntimeError: Failed to add edge detection I didnt have any issues with Kernel 5.1.15 but I cannot recreate it anymore. Maybe this will help to give a clue of what is happening: at 5.1.15 kernel: In ArmbianEnv.text I have enabled the w1-gpio: param_w1_pin=PC7 (PC7 Is GPIO-71) …

Hello, after some time i am trying to work again on my Orange Project. Now i want to connect an serial device on UART2 (PA0 / PA1). The devices /dev/ttyS0 - S3 are existant, but no data is coming in over RXD. I already read the thread here and tried to check the configuration. I upgraded my armbian and i am now working with ARMBIAN 5.60 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.70-sunxi64 So i hopefully found the configuration in /boot/dtb-4.14.70-sunxi64/allwinner/sun50i-h5-orangepi-pc2.dtb After decompiling i found uart0@0 { pins = "PA…

Guide: Configuring Orange PI PC to receive IR/InfraRed and fix Lirc I also show how VNC can be used to do remote control on orangepipc+ on the example of kodi. Should be the same on orangepipc boards. If a USB IR receiver is used the problem ma not be present at all, but i use the on-board IR receiver. Is dirty work around, if someone knows how to fix it correctly please tell! (I installed the latest version of LIRC 0.9.4b from the source code and compiled it, but it din not fix the problem. So i stay with the version ARMBIAN 5.25 stable Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i comes with.) If the LIRC tool irw cant be started and …
