Hey folks! On monday I was able to fix the overscanning issue of my Orange Pi zero (read here). Because fiddling around with the register values can be pretty harsh some times I decided to created a small programm to move the picture of the composite video output. You can find the project page here: https://projects.nwrk.biz/projects/allwinner-tvout With this tool you can easily move the picture relative to its actual position by just calling : $ sudo tvout -m -x <value in px> -y <value in px> To reset the position you can use: $ sudo tvout -r I hope some of you may find this useful. If I have enoug…

It took me a while to get this ILI9340 based LCD monitor working with the Orange Pi Zero until I found a post on this forum that explains how the H2+ ports are mapped to the GPIO numbers in the Linux kernel. So I built an online tool that does the math for you: Here is a map of all the Orange Pi Zero GPIO pins: All the additional details are described in this blog post.

Armbian_5.59_Nanopineo2_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.14.65.img does not see the sound codec at all. The status matrix here: http://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort#Status_Matrix tells that Audio Codec should be supported since kernel 4.12 on H3 (H2+ is the same, as far as I know). But Armbian does not see the audio codec nor on NanoPi Neo2 (H5), nor even on on NanoPi Duo (H2+), although all the img files I used have 4.14 in their name. However, even with FriendlyElec's own image nanopi-neo2_ubuntu-oled_4.14.52_20180628.img there is a different issue - the sound is mono instead of stereo! I tried speaker-test: speaker-test -…

Hi, I'm trying to boot from SATA the original OrangePI: Using the Jessie "Linux orangepi 4.9.12-sunxi #4 SMP Thu Feb 23 19:46:51 CET 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux" Followed this thread: https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/329-moving-linux-to-sata-or-external-drive/ - copied to /dev/sda1 - edited /boot/boot.cmd and changed to /dev/sda1 - edited the mounted sda1 fstab and changed / to SATA drive UUID - compiled: mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d /boot/boot.cmd /boot/boot.scr Rebooted but Orange Pi still boots from mSD card and does not use SATA drive. Question: Should I use UUID of the SATA drive in /boot/boot.cmd?

Hello, my opi+2 sometimes dies after long running times and becomes so hot that I cannot touch it. When I looked to logs, I saw kernel panic errors like, you know, tons of meanless numbers. I can provide any information you want. It's been few hours since I started it but here are logs. http://sprunge.us/jJSK Probably it had had 0.05 15 min load before it died. I couldn't see the message I saw before, probably they got removed from the system after few minutes. I'll send you newer logs after I get accurate errors again. This may take a week, or few days.

Hello, I have OPI0 with Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS with Linux 5.8.6-sunxi and I would like to set 240 MHz as minimum frequency. cpufreq-info shows that available steps starts at 480 MHz but on older kernel 240 MHz and 120 MHz were available too. I also tried to "force" 240 and 120 by editing /etc/default/cpufrequtils but no go. Hello all. I am having problems making nand-sata-install script work for installing to my external HDD. I used this (or similar) script in the past on loboris' images and it was working. After some time and experimenting with other images etc. I settled on Armbian, everything worked great, until I started the same script. I made 30 ish GB partition for the system and leave the rest as NTFS storage partition for mounting it later on the OS. But with armbian's script, i couldn't get my HDD to work with it. I am choosing to boot from sd and system from USB (sata) option, choosing the correct partition (/dev/sda2 in this example) and starting the process but it f…

cheers, new to this, so far have created xenial core, installed virtualbox, built xenial with 4 cpu, 8gb ram, 120Gb vdk, and successfully installed armbian kernel and OS build tools. Was able to build several OPi kernels, then noticed there was only option for OPi + not OPi+ 2 and it appears to only support 1GB of the 2GB available. Its this a viable option? will it automatically do 2GB on boot or is it specifically limited? Not sure which parameters to change. Also looking for an accurate schematic of the Orange Pi Plue 2 would appreciate it if someone can send me a link. My application is to setup SPI and i2C and from weeks of reading this …

Hi, I installed Armbian image 20.8.1-focal-5.8.5 to Orange Pi PC. I am experiencing issues with playing sounds (tested with playing .wav files). Upon starting playback first 1-2 seconds are omitted and then sound plays as it should. I didn't notice this issue on Xenial (3.4.113). Issue is identical to the ones reported in following threads: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12059-orange-pi-lite-missing-first-second-of-the-audio-output/ https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12059-orange-pi-lite-missing-first-second-of-the-audio-output/ Has anyone managed to solve it? Hello Community! I am struggling with assigning numbers to I2C buses in my BPi, doing the same(?) thing in two different ways i am getting two different results. By default, there is only /dev/i2c-0 node available, AFAIK because HDMI uses this bus. 1. Using build-in overlay for i2c0 bus (overlays=i2c0 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt) enables another i2c bus. In this case, /dev/i2c-0 is the bus connected to pins 3 and 5 at 40-pin header. The other bus (enabled by default) becomes /dev/i2c-1. It doesn't matter how many times i reset my board, assignment doesn't change. 2. The second way is to create my own overlay by cloning this code and …

This may be one of those questions that should be considered dumb, but I'll risk your flames and ask regardless. Is the Orange Pi ONE GPIO Pin layout the same as the Raspberry Pi? I haven't found much specific to GPIO on the Orange Pi One, but I did see someone who said they were flipped 180 from the RPI. Before I attach a project and risk frying project and./or board, could you point me to a reference that specifies the layout of the GPIO pins on the Orange Pi ONE? And, like I said, I'm really sorry if this is the dumbest thing you've had to read all day. I have searched, but could not find much specific to the ONE.

Lucky me received a Beelink X2 as a gift days ago. I flashed Legacy 3.4.112 to a Samsung EVO and am pretty stoked to see this display on an HDMI TV. It doesn't display to DVI but I saw reference to h3disp, so I have hope this applies. I'd like to incorporate a Traveller mode (I made that up) that can be set so the unit knows monitors are likely to change and find an automatic way for this to detect DVI. I'll also get a cheap USB soundcard and output to a monitor that has a soundbar and avoid SPDIF for a while. That's about it: play tutorials and enjoy what Armbian can do. I can't tell you how blown away I am with this neat little Beelink X2, or how much I'm in aw…

Hi, Just a quick question as Debian Stretch has been out for a while now: Will there be an official upgrade of ARMBIAN for the Cubietruck (Cubieboard 3) at some point or is there a simple doc on how to upgrade the distribution? I run ARMBIAN with the legacy kernel (3.4.113-sun7i). Everything required for the system boot is in the NAND while the root and /home partitions are on the sdd. Would it be possible to upgrade to Stretch just by replacing the version name in the sources.list file? If there won't be any automated ARMBIAN upgrades to Stretch for this device. Would you recommend using the official Debian distribution (and bo…

Hello, Just started on the latest Neo2 Ubuntu (Armbian_5.34.171121_Nanopineo2_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.14) as we were tired trying to get around the challenges of the Ubuntu Core provided by FriendlyARM. Have enabled SPI we think (armbian-config->system/hardware/spi-spidev) and rebooted, but even after full power cycle we don't see anything in /dev/spi*. Is there anything special/additional we need to do to get SPI working (which we know does from our Ubuntu Core build). Thanks Rob

Hi, Sorry, I don't know if correct topic, but I have a Orange PI 3 and have problem with DNS resolution. For example if I try to ping www.google.com sometime take a 25 second for DNS resolve to IP address. I don't see any problem with my local network because I have other devices that not have any problem with DNS resolution. Please, your help.

Hey there. I used to run an Octoprint server on my Orange Pi Zero H2+ installed over armbian, which got swapped with a raspberry pi for unimportant reasons. Your kernel does not appear to be compiled with support for unprivileged user namespaces (CONFIG_USER_NS=y), or something else is preventing creation of user namespaces. This feature is critical for sandboxing. Arch Linux is known to ship with a kernel that disables this feature; if you are using Arch, you will unfortunately need to compile your own kernel (see https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/36969).If you are not using Arch, and don't know why your system wouldn't have user namespaces, please file a bug against Sandstorm so we can figure out what happened. .....anyone? Thanks! (going to try compiling now, but figured I'd ask.…

I know Banana pi had issues in the past connecting at gigabit speeds. I thought that was a fixed problem, though. I did a fresh Jessie server install today and it still connects at 100 megabit. Is there a user action that must be taken? According to http://linux-sunxi.org/LeMaker_Banana_Pi the GMAC wasn't supported in the community kernel but should be in later kernels. Is this still an issue? How does one set GMAC_TX_DELAY to 3? Is that a config file thing or a patch that needs to be applied? Are other Banana Pi owners just living with 100 megabit speeds? Hi I need to execute some command when system is going down for halt/poweroff. I need to know this inside my script /etc/init.d/myScript which is called when system is going down. I used to do it by checking $runlevel variable and if it is set to 0, then system was going down for halt, it was working for instance in Raspbian a few years ago. However, in my Linux cubieboard2 4.9.12-sunxi Armbian this variable is not set, and when I execute "runlevel" command inside "STOP" case in myScript it says it is in N 5 runlevel which is not true because I have executed poweroff All tips are welcome Best Regards Marek

Hello to all I am using Debian Jessie 5.25 on OPi PC+. And using rpi-monitor for monitoring stuff. Hi, Many thanks for your support. I installed successfully the OpenMediaVault (OMV) ISO Image on the new Orange Pi Zero Plus (OPI0+): OMV_3_0_91_Orangepizeroplus_4.13.13.img.xz. I mounted an external USB 2.0 HDD. via OMV The OPI0+ is directly connected thru LAN cable to the router (Fritz!Box 7490). Login via PuTTY ssh works also fine. Additionally, I installed miniDLNA and configured folder/file sharing and media streaming. The flac-files are provided quickly, including album cover pictures (jpg). Now, I kindly ask for your support to disable Wi-Fi (WLAN). I thought about blacklisting the module 'cfg80211', but …

Hi to everyone, I configured Network Manager to have a local-link connection (eth0-ll) as DHCP fallback (eth0-auto). When I do the following: Connect Orange Pi in a net without DHCP, obtaining a local link address Unplug ethernet cable Plug another ethernet cable connected to a network with DHCP If step 2 and step 3 are executed rapidly, the Orange Pi doesn't detect the network switching and eth0 keeps its local-link address. When I perform such steps slowly, Orange Pi detect which ethernet cable is not plugged in and then everything works as expected. How can I increase the refresh rate of …

Hey all, I understand these things are in active development at the moment. I was attempting to use the usb 3.0 socket on the lite 2 with stretch, except it did not respond at all - looking at dmesg shows the following error: [ 1.806055] sun4i-usb-phy 5100400.phy: Couldn't get regulator usb0_vbus... Deferring probe [ 1.806320] sun50i-usb3-phy 5210000.phy: failed to get phy clock which from my limited experience with linux kernel seems to indicate that the device tree config may be incorrect for the board - as most searching for these errors show the code added as part of updates to get the pine64 board's usb 3.0 stack working. I have to reboot the board, and then I see no result. I'm considering buying a Banana Pro, and I assumed I could just install a standard version of Debian Jessie directly from the official installer according to this and this, albeit without graphics or audio support. But then I came across this page and I'm not quite sure I understand the differences between Igor's images and regular a Debian installation. Is it the just the option to choose sunxi/4.0.5 kernel, some (or rather, a lot of) tweaks and scripts and drivers for misc components (IR, LVDS, etc)? I plan to use it as a headless server, what would be the advantages of running Igor's images vs a regular install? Also, on a separate question, is there any other bo…

Hey kids, it is me, again! So, this time I found out (well, you maybe knew it before and I am dumbing around again) that voltage control does not work on Banana Pi (at least) mainline kernel. Well, if I am supposed to change it in linux-mainline/arch/arm/boot/dts/sun7i-a20.dtsi. I tried to reach 1248000kHz, which is, of course, unstable. So I was adding and adding voltage, until I was too afraid to continue (1650000mV ). But BananaPi was unstable the same way (freez after few minutes of FTP transfer), no more (bad charger) or no less (would still need more voltage). So after few hours of re-compiling source and listening wonderful music I tried this: 1248000(kHz)…

Will it just partition it as one big ext4? Is it possible to make at least two partitions, one for the system and one for the files?

These boards are well suited to routing/network traffic control functionality. Currently the kernel has been compiled with Traffic Control stuff disabled, which makes it impossible to perform traffic shaping on stock Armbian kernel. I'm busy recompiling the kernel as a temporary solution, but I will really appreciate it if the kernel build maintainer can please change the traffic control options from DISABLED to MODULE (at least)? I have a bunch of Armbian boards but I'm testing with NanoPi Neo 2 right now. --- I'll let you know the size of the modules once I've finished compiling.

Hi folks, A few months back, I set up an Orange Pi Prime on Armbian Bionic (Armbian_5.52.180715_Orangepiprime_Ubuntu_bionic_dev_4.18.0-rc4.7z). I'm now putting together a home automation workshop around this configuration, but it looks like it's now missing from the website (https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-prime/) and download site (https://dl.armbian.com/orangepiprime/). Is Bionic no longer supported for this board, or was this an oversight? Is there something I can do to help?
