I just ordered a couple of Orange Pi Zero systems to use in small IoT projects. Reading the forum I see the wireless for Orange Pi Zero might have issues. But some of the posts wanted to use it as an AP. That's not my case, I'll test them when they get here, but just how bad is it? I will not have a heavy load, but I would like something stable. When push comes to shove should I plan on using an Ethernet cable rather than the wifi?

The old 0.14.0 version doesn't work well with subtitles, ending up with subtitles drawing on top of each others, when the text is moving fast. Is there any build I could download and install? Or some other workaround? Edit: Kodi draws the subtitles correctly, but it has pretty awful screen tearing. Using black bloxes instead of just some outline on the subtitles does work, but it's not an acceptable fix to me. So, it would be great it was possible to use whatever kodi uses to draw the subtitles, but then use mpv to draw the video.

Hi I need to set static IP in eth0 and wlan0 in my OPi Zero using ARMBIAN Jessie. Googling around, I read a lot of controversial options, like edit /etc/network/interfaces and use nmtui, but, I couldn't set BOTH eth0 and wlan0 to a static IP. If I do it for eth0, wlan0 doesn't work and vice-versa. One guy said that after Debian Jessie version (https://nebulousthinking.wordpress.com/2016/02/25/setting-a-static-ip-for-raspbian-jessie-in-2016/), some things changed to set up static IP. Now, from Jessie, we need to edit /etc/ dhcpcd.conf, but, where is it ( dhcpcd.conf )? Can someone instruct me about how to set static IP, please? Sergio

Hi folks, I'm trying to figure out what the current status of USB OTG support is, as applies to the Orange Pi Zero. I'm trying to use the HID gadget features, but I'm triggering a segfault and stack dump when I try to set it up. I'm using the hidonly.sh script found here (https://github.com/crmulliner/hidemulation), with a tiny modification to make it more generic: - echo ci_hdrc.0 > UDC + ls /sys/class/udc > UDC On running the script, I get the following (using the serial console): I found this report, which appears to be identical, but I'm not sure what it means, or what I should do to get working OTG support on the OPi Zero. Is the…

Hi there I wanted to ask if anybody got HDMI-CEC to work with their Orange Pi Lite. The data sheet says its supported, but I can't get it to work with Armbian. What I tried till now is installing cec-utils with all dependencies and running "cec-client -l", hoping it would work out-of-the-box: root@orangepilite:~# cec-client -l Found devices: NONE Tried different cables and HDMI Ports. CEC is enabled in the TV (Samsung). After a bit of googling (and trying some stuff applying to the RPi) I am now thinking that maybe the kernel hasn't got CEC support compiled in...? root@orangepilite:~# uname -a Linux orangepilite 3.4.112-sun8i #10 SMP PREEMPT Sun Oct 23 16:…

I've set up my new OPi Zero as a wireless AP running the latest Armbian build for the OPi0. It's working mostly great. My one problem I'm having is that my speeds seem to be throttled to 5-6Mbps. I connect wirelessly from my phone and run a speed test and get 5-6Mbps. If I connect directly to my router, I get 30Mbps. I have a Rpi3 set up about the same as the OPi0, and when I connect it up I get the full 30. Each time I've tested with the OPi and RPi, my phone is the only device connected. So, I've poked around online and I can't seem to figure out if it's a hardware limitation or if it's a software/driver/setting limitation. Also, if it's the latter, how/where to…

Hi. I'm looking for your kernel sources 3.4.113 with Mali400Mp driver. Is there a repo where I can download it or I have to patch myself the sunxi-v3.4.104-r0 kernel. In case there is no repo and I have to do this myself could you please tell me if my approach is correct for cubieboard2 and cubietruck3. 1) Download the sunxi kernel 3.4.104-r0 2) Download the armbian sources 5.24 3) Patch the kernel 3.4.104-r0 using lib/patch/kernel/sun7i-default files Did I forget something ? It would be so much better if I could download your full patched kernel 3.4.113 with Mali400MP driver. I am far from being an expert in this work. Thx

Orange Pi Zero - SPI1 - SPI_MOSI - Seems "weak" SPI_SCLK is Peak-to-Peak 3.3v (no problem) SPI_MOSI is Peak-to-Peak 165mv (whoa strange! hooked up to the o-scope) I suspect that MOSI is "dead" in my config since the waveform matches SPI_SCLK almost exactly, so perhaps it's crosstalk or something of that sort. Hello does someone have the working configuration enabling the onewire master bus on the mainline version ? After receiving several Orange Pi Zeros and a Pi+2E, I have been experiment on different ways to connect them using the g_ether and usbnet modules, and configuring the Zero OTG port as slave (mode 2). My last attempt was to use the Pi+2E as a data concentrator, connecting three different OPIZ on the independent USB channels, creating ethernet over USB links ... this have been my week's nightmare. By now these are my findings (could change with more information at hand). 1) The Pi+2E enables 4 different usb ports. The usb0 is the OTG microUSB port, and the usb1, usb2 and usb3 are the other exposed type A USB ports. 2) The usb0 has a particular MAC Address and…

Hi, i am actually a bit confused. I thought that a NanoPi Neo V1.0! which is set to 1200Mhz Clockspeed, enabled USB and enabled GPU should burn a additonal 1A (fast) Fuse while doing a 100% Stresstest. It doesn't. Just get more speed and heat... I added an additional Wlan Stick for more powerconsumption... but this doesn't help either. In my opinion and the always stated "on 912Mhz" max 2 Watts... it should kill the 1A on 1200Mhz no? 5V 2W = 1A ... I do a small cluster here and i want to save the GND Rail for shortage to save the other nodes if one Node is melted down and cause shortage. I thought a 1A Fuse has to burn up... but reality is kicking my …

Hi friends, I am using armbian on orangepi lite and it is brilliant! My orange pi zero is on the way. One question - sometimes I want to make wifi AP from my armbian and sometimes I want armbian to be wifi client. Now it connects successfully to my wifi as a client. Ideally I would like to run two commands: - one command to act as wifi AP (with specified wifi name, password, etc.) - second command to act as wifi client (to connect to specific network with password, etc.) Any idea how to do it, please? P.S. LAN port (on orange pi zero) should always…

I need to use non-standard baud rate (125000) on the serial port. Communication works very reliably, but dmesg says: "Python sets custom speed on ttyS1. This is deprecated." What should my attitude towards it? Can I ignore it? I read, that it is necessary to make some changes in the "asm/termios.h". It is necessary ? Could it be a normal part of the kernel? Moreover - I do not know how to do it. Thanks.

Until the day Armbian can auto-configure HDMI output (with respect to a TV or DVI computer monitor), the thought occurred to me that the Beelink X2 defaults to Android KitKat 4.x, and from there maybe it's possible to plug in the TF card that you'll be rebooting into, then access the card from Android to makes changes, like: h3disp -m 720p60 -d If a DVI-monitor is expected to boot into. I was even brushing up on MIT App Inventor to make presets from Android side, but my skills drop off sharply at that point. The practical reason for his, is not only to show the neighbors but also have a media player anywhere there's a screen. In conclusion, I don't know what m…

Hello, I try to get WiFi P2P working on the Nano Pi Neo Air with a 4.x mainline kernel and so I tried the latest available nightly build "Armbian_5.24.170118_Nanopiair_Ubuntu_xenial_4.9.4.img" but I have problems to establish a connection. Does anybody have WiFi P2P working on the Nano PI Neo Air? The problem seems be a problem with the P2P_CLIENT interface creation at the brcmfmac driver. My P2P test peer is a Nexus 5 phone and I'am able to see the peer device using wpa_cli p2p_peers. But when I try to connect I get following driver error messages at the Kernel Log. [ 8.085540] brcmfmac: brcmf_c_preinit_dcmds: Firmware version = wl0: Jun 6 2014 14:50:…

In Ubuntu Xenial how do we disable framebuffer switching and font switching? My Orange Pi Plus 2e v1.1 has the usual problem with HDMI-to-DVI converters but it's unusual in this case because it's switching framebuffers and fonts. The screen appears just fine during boot, but just after the message "Starting kernel..." the screen blanks and goes into power-saving poweroff with no return. I've seen this before, and I have tried several things to prevent the dead screen. I tried editing /boot/armbianEnv.txt to contain these lines like I have on other SBCs like PINE A64 and older Orange Pi devices that solved this problem: disp_mode=720p60 disp_dvi_compat=1 I …

Hello Guys, I want to use airodump-ng (Aircrack-ng Suite) or Kismet to get all WiFi Clients in the area. For that, I would like to use the internal WiFi Chipset (so I don't have to use an external WiFi Dongle). My problem is, after I enable the monitor mode (with iwconfig and/or airmon-ng), which gives me no error and it says, the monitor mode is enabled, I am getting no results with Airodump-ng nor Kismet. Are there any solutions for this problem? Is is the driver not capeable of using monitor mode? Thanks in advance, KittFanNr1

Hi, I'm trying to send IR command from a IR led from an Orange Pi, i have it working fine on an Arduino, but it seems that on linux it's a bit more complicated as there are no lib that can control a GPIO with an IR transmitter, it seems that everybody is using LIRC. I see for raspberry pi this needs to be done : EDIT /etc/modules WITH : lirc_dev lirc_rpi gpio_in_pin=23 gpio_out_pin=22 the Orange PI devier module is different, so i do not know how to control it to let it know where the transmitter is. Anybody managed to get this to work ? Thx

Hello, I've been trying to use DNSCrypt on ARMBian Debian on OrangePi Zero. I'm following this guide (exact revision link for future reference), and it was working great on Raspbian in Raspberry Pi, When I try the same guide, it compiles, installs successfully, runs the daemon, however it doesn't actually work, saying "connection timed out; no servers could be reached". When I'm not using daemon, and run manually, this time it says "Unable to bind (TCP)". But when I compile and use in Ubuntu, it works nicely. This is my GitHub issue on DNSCrypt repository, including all my tests and inputs: https://github.com/jedisct1/dnscrypt-proxy/issues/561 …

Hallo, I use Armbian for some time now, usually I can solve all problems myself. Recently, one of my boards has gone bad (or mad?). I started using this particular board on 10/11/2016. Installed Armbian (5.20) from images available on that day. Everything went nice, no problems, pretty much no load for whole days. On 20/12/2016 something began to use 1 core of CPU. No idea what. On 23/12/2016 board stopped responding completely. I haven't accessed/used system from 20/12/2016 so I was not aware of problem. I turned it off later. I removed SD card from board and used with other OrangePi One just fine. But this board behaves strange. I re-installed Armbian and it se…

Hi, I was wondering if anybody has managed to get rf433 receiver or emitter to work on an orangepi one ? I am trying to get this pi-switch (https://github.com/lexruee/pi-switch-python) to work. I have installed WiringOP and orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3. I managed to get pi-switch to compile (i had to add a swap file since it was using so much memory) when i run a sniffing code i get this "wiringPiISR: unable to open /sys/class/gpio/gpio0/value: No such file or directory" Maybe there are some rf433 lib that already work with hte orangepi, not sure, i did not find any ?

After I got my OPiPC+ to finally boot without HDMI, it wouldn't boot in my shop. I originally had it in the bedroom because that's where a convenient HDMI TV was AND that's where the U-Verse router is. In the shop, it went through an HP Procurve 2626 switch but would hang early in the boot process. Logged into the switch and found that most ports were set to "100FDpx". I changed the Pi port to "Auto100" and within seconds, the Pi was booting. Yay! Most people won't have such a problem using ordinary switches. A year ago, I needed more ports in the shop and got a great deal on this one locally. I didn't need 24 ports or the feature set but it was $40.00. T…

Hello, I have got my Orange Pi PC+ reading a DS18B20, but it only gives 0.5 degree increments so I believe the resolution is set to 9 bit. This is nowhere near good enough for the application I plan to use it for. Does anyone know how I can change the resolution to 11 or 12 bit? Many thanks

For the Air's I've used the Debian release, don't know really why ;-) At first I've bootet it from a SD-Card after a direct eMMC-Flash using https:…

Hi Everyone I have a small problem, I recently purchased a OrangePi Zero and wanted to run Armbian on it, I downloaded the last stable release 3.4 (Debian Jesse) and prepped my Adata 32gb with Etcher same way I did my Opi Lite, and placed it in the Opi, and nothing happened , it doesnt boot up at all if I apply power (I can see both ethernet leds but not the power LED) I disconnected it and connect my Uart cable to the Zero and confirmed there is no output when you power it on, I then tried the Xenial build and still nothing, I downloaded the latest nightly 4.9 and Boom ,works like a dream I get output via Uart and can use the terminal to configure it. Seems when I upgrade my pcDuino3 Nano (pcDuino3b to be specific) from the Mainline server 4.7.3 using apt-get to the newest of everything, wifi is no longer seen. Hello, Im using a Orange Pi Zero, running nginx with Nextcloud. Im noticing 99.99% usage on the IO reported by iotop, but disk read and disk write show 0%. Even a refresh on the homepage bumps it up to the top of the IO list. As far as I am informed... isn't kswapd0 supposed to deal with swap memory and go wild when I am about to run out of RAM? I have disabled (hopefully), my swap partition, but I am still getting this. I have commented out the swap line in fstab... htop reports 0KB SWAP. It doesn't seem that I am running out of memory. About 50% of it appears to be free all the time. I am really new to dev boards and such, but this didn't appea…

My first impression was it is lacking GL drivers, so I have followed this tutorial: https://forum.armbian.com/index. ... pi-orangepi-pc-etc/, tested and everything seemed to be ok. I installed Emilia Pinball to check additionally - it renders correctly. Still, when …

Hi, I am trying to make the OPI Zero boot with the help of the onboard SPI with the goal to boot from an usb drive and not from the sdcard. What steps should be executed. I only managed to get the Xenial image to work with my 512Mb board... so that is what I want to use. I assume... I need to make u-boot work with the sdcard... move the whole thing to the usb drive (with the u-boot) and than populate somehow the SPI with the image of an SPL, which would get it up through the u-boot on the usb. So I would need some in depth guidance (best would be some example commands to be used), what steps and tools should be executed to make it work. Thanks in advance &…

Hi, I was on the legacy kernel until recently with my bananaPi M1. I switched to the vanilla kernel but since then, when I try to use the GPIO python library (for bananapi from LeMaker github), it works quite well except for functions gpio.add_event_detect() or GPIO.wait_for_edge(channel, GPIO.RISING) This usually disconnect my network and the event is never detected. I have to reboot the PI to restore the state. Also, a normal read/write state GPIO.input(PIN_NUM) works perfectly... I assume it is due to the vanilla kernel but could not find any documentation on why this is happening... Any answer/comments would be much appreciated! Let me know if yo…
