  1. Hello, I have problem with "Orange Pi Zero Plus" and functionality of Relay module (electrical circuit= normally closed). Relay module is attached on pin/port number "0". When I set up pin number "0" from "OFF" to "OUT" state with command: gpio export 0 out state is changed from OFF to OUT and parameter in column "V" is "0". It should mean that relay stays turned of. +------+-----+----------+------+---+ | GPIO | wPi | Name | Mode | V | +------+-----+----------+------+---+ | 12 | 0 | SDA.0 | OUT | 0 | Problem is, that relay immediately after execution of mentioned command enables(turns on) output electrical circuit. 2. How to use an Orange Pi Zero Plus as an ethernet gadget over usb otg using g_ether?

  3. About 3 months ago i bought the Orange PI Zero Plus Orange Pi Zero Plus I installed Armbian Stretch and started playing around. I noticed that it got up to 71c which was to much so i shut it down and went on the net to buy some 5v fans to cool it. A month ago I received the first fans and noticed now that Armbian Buster had arrived. Since I hadn't gotten far with the config of Armbian Stretch I started on a new image. But to my disappointment the ARM processor is now clocked to 1008Mhz and not the 1.2Ghz the device is set to by manufacturer. I can guess that it is because of the heat problem that it is now set to…

  7. Hi, I've got an Orange Pi Zero Plus H5 running "Armbian_5.91_Orangepizeroplus_Debian_buster_next_4.19.59.img" but I can't seem to connect to it via the three UART pins next to the Ethernet port. I'm using this adapter using both the Windows supplied and the manifacturer's drivers. I've also tried adding "uart1 uart2 uart3" to the overlays line in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and rebooting but with no luck. I'm using PuTTY on my laptop connecting via COM7 serial port (as shown in Device Manager) with baud rate 115200, but the PuTTY screen stays black with nothing coming in. Is there something that I'm missing?

  8. I originally installed Armbian_5.38_Orangepizeroplus_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.14.14 I got NTP with PPS up and running on UART2 with PPS on PA3 I have a working backup image of this. I then used armbian-config to boot from USB disk and I installed a LAMP stack and battled to get a DB up and running. My mistake was upgrading the kernel before making a backup. My version is now ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS 4.14.48-sunxi64 NTP and PPS no longer work. Is there a way to downgrade the kernel without having to go back to the backup and battle with the DB config again? I'm a Linux newb so please make allowances for my ignorance. 10. I had an annoying issue with the WiFi of this board with Armbian 5.65 Ubuntu and Stretch. Sometimes it would spontaneous lose its WiFi connection. After researching it for a while I noticed that the wlan0 interface sometimes lost it's IP address. At first I thought it had something to do with the DHCP lease or sleep mode of the adapter. I just couldn't get my head around it and I ended up removing network-manager and going back to creating an interfaces.conf file for setting up my network interfaces. Somehow this solved the issue, the WiFi connection hasn't failed since! To do this, first create the wpa supplicant configuration file: ~# …

I compared two boards (opi zero h3 and opi zero plus h5) and found that cpu pins for 26 gpio are the same . so I modify the code in wiringPi about cpu detection to force return true value . and it works. the step: 1. git clone https://github.com/xpertsavenue/WiringOP-Zero 2. modify the code in WiringOP-Zero/wiringPi/wiringPi.c (or using the attached file to replace)。 3. make && make install 4. run "gpio readall " to test 5. run "gpio write 30 1" (the red-led on, wiringpi pin 30 control red-led status). wiringPi.c

  12. Good day Armbian Forums! I'm having some trouble with builds of Armbian (up to and including 21.08.6 | kernel 5.10.60-sunxi) seeing wireless access points that are configured to channels 12 & 13 on my Orange Pi Zero Plus2 boards (H3 + 256mb RAM). Specifically, the default Android image (a generic Chinese-language Android multimedia system) that's loaded onto these boards can see and connect to access points that have been set to all channels (1-13) successfully, but any Armbian image I have tried fails to see anything (and subsequently cannot connect) to routers on channels 12 & 13. Due to the nature of this, I believe it may be a region setting or dri…

  19. Hi, as many did, I've bought a (CSI) OV5647 camera from AliExpress and am struggling to get it to work. Been at it for a week now and am at a loss. So i'm trying to get some clarification via this thread on how to get this camera to work. What I've done so far is to compile a mainline kernel (Ubuntu Bionic) and edited the kernel config file to include sun6i_csi and ov5647 driver. Build finishes successfully and am able to boot and load the drivers Unfortunately the OV5647 isn't recognized and /dev/video0 isn't created. Second build included a userpatch I've found online which i applied to no avail to the kernel https…

  21. I recently purchased a number of Orange Pi and Nano Pi boards, and discovered the awesome work of the Armbian team :-) The Orange Pi Plus2 H5 is a rather nice board - built in eMMC, H5, etc. (I wish it had 1GB of RAM but that's a different subject.) I'd love to use these boards for a number of projects. As a test, I modified the DTS for the board (mainline kernel) to enable support for the 1.1v/1.3v switch for VDD-CPUX using the SY8113B on the board. I also enabled the allowed clock changes to 1.2GHz for cpufreq. All of this worked great, but the board was very unstable at anything over 1GHz, which seemed strange, given that the CPU voltage should be swit…

  26. Started by Atgeek,

I've a opi zero running the latest armbian stable release, it just handle a pihole dhcp server and run the transmission client, but randomly stuck becoming inaccessible through ssh and webserver pages. All return normal when it restart by manual removing the power supply, but this way it's very uncomfortable, so what could be the cause? Is there a way to log the system errors for read them the next reboot? Thanks

  27. Started by jstefanop,

We have deployed the zero for an integrated MCU on one of our products, and in rare occasions we are experience random lockups of the MCU (possibly related to overheating). Its pretty much impossible to debug this since it happens very rarely, but we are trying to mitigate all possible causes. The MCU is controlling a bigger and more expensive board and a fan. If there are internal failsafes that are being triggered by the MCU and locking it up (like temp) we want to disable as many of them as possible (we would rather have the MCU burn up than our main board). Anyone have any insights on orange pi zero OTP or OCP in kernel or uboot parameters we can disable?

  28. as of some network release before the current (unsupported) 4.11.3 kernel, the networking has started having random value hw mac addresses on every boot. I suspect if you can do so and look @ your DHCP server, you will possibly see the orangepi (or whatever your hostname is) lurking there. Another way to do it if you have to, is to /sbin/ifconfig and get the HWaddr and look for that mac address on your dhcp server. I came by your post while trying to find a workable solution to assigning the mac on the orangepi zero 512 I am bringing up. Jim

  29. i make this post to ask why my orange pi zero reaches easy 85 degrees with a heatsink applied to it. It is placed in a big case. Maybe the temperature reading is wrong? i check temperature with " armbianmonitor -m and i get: Time CPU load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU 09:28:26: 480MHz 0.55 28% 4% 23% 0% 0% 0% 86°C 09:28:31: 240MHz 0.51 28% 4% 23% 0% 0% 0% 86°C 09:28:36: 480MHz 0.54 28% 4% 23% 0% 0% 0% 86°C what can i do? I'm actually using the orange pi zero as a flight tracker, which is a very cpu and Wi-Fi intensive task, but i think that 86 degrees are too much!!

  31. Hi, for the raspi it is possible to add a second SD Card... I was wondering whether armbian brings the necessary kernel modules (mainline) to achieve this functionality? My approach is not speed, I need tight space so a second SD without USB adaptor would be excellent...

  32. On my new orange pi zero I hooked a pl2303 usb converter to the three serial pins and use "screen /dev/ttyUSB4 115200" to connect. This gives garbage on boot, with occasional strings of meaningful info like "Orange Pi" or "Debian". Same converter worked fine on my Raspberry Pi Zero. I'm suspecting the Orange Pi is just too fast and either the pl2303 or my Debian system can't keep up. Does anyone have the serial console working? Should I try a cp2102 instead, or maybe reconfigure to a slower speed? When I configured a DHCP server and hooked it up via ethernet, I can get in fine. 40. Hi! New to the forums, this is my first post. I've been trying out some of the pre-built Armbian images on my Orange Pi Zero to get a taste for the OS and it's perfect for my purposes, however I've noticed something odd about the current mainline images that's possibly a small oversight. I browsed the forums before posting and noticed that TV Out functionality has been disabled by default on H3-based boards due to an interference with HDMI output on mainline, which is naturally understandable. There's only one small problem - the same patch has been applied to H2+ boards which lack an HDMI Out altogether. I've explored the image currently provided (the latest …

I am trying to figure out how to make the Orange Pi Zero a USB gadget. Preferably a USB Vendor Device but a mass storage device would work for now. I was able to successfully create the ethernet gadget. (Using Armbian_3.4.112_g_ether_kernel.tar.bz2) That is pretty cool. But I would like the mass storage or vendor device. I was playing around with modprobe but I am not really sure what I am doing. Module g_mass_storage is not found. 51. I've read many posts here and understand the OPi0 wireless chip isn't very well liked. I'm trying to setup hostapd with both client and AP functionality. I can get AP working only if I dedicate wlan0 to it. It seems that virtual devices (eg iw dev wlan0 interface add uap0 type managed; ip link set uap0 up) don't work with the current jessie image, making it impossible to have both AP and client simultaneously. I'm happy to help with testing the driver, but I'm no expert and certainly not knowledgeable enough to code this sort of stuff. If there's any help to be had, I'd be grateful.

  52. CNX-Software just posted that H2 based Orange Pi Zero appeared on Aliexpress for $7. It has been showcased here before, but now is on sale officially, though I can't find 512MB version on the store pages. I'm eager to try 256MB version as my home IoT hub (mosquitto + nginx + uwsgi + Twisted, with MySQL database running on Zyxel NAS). It started with OPi PC then I switched to OPi One but I see it still can be lower spec device.

  53. Hello, Does the wi-fi module of the Orange Pi Zero consume power when I'm not using wi-fi? If it does, can I disable it? My pi zero will be connected to ethernet 24/7 and I don't want it to consume unnecessary power. Thanks.

  54. Hello everyone, I am using Orange Pi Zero LTS 512MB (H3 Cpu) hardware. As an image; I am using "Armbian 22.08 Jammy Kernel 5.15.y, Updated: Sep 24,202". The MAC address changes every time the Wi-Fi is turned on. I tried several different images. I tried a few simple fixes posted on the forums, but only managed to fix it for ethernet. But it was not successful for Wi-Fi. I need an image or solution that does not change the MAC address. Is there anyone who can help with this?

  55. Hi, I'm trying to activate WiFi access point on my Orange Pi that using internet over ethernet cable. On my friend's computer we've flashed and activate Access point on armbian-config menu, but in newer releases of armbian(that i've downloaded yesterday) armbian-config menu doesn't contain such option to activate access point. I want to know how to activate access point in current release, or can i? Thanks in advance.

  57. I have ironed out my OPZ woes and have it working well now along with the Mainline Armbian image. As we may know the onboard wifi is garbage and will not get fixed, however I found a dirt cheap plug and play usb alternative on ebay (or aliexpress.com) using the common (Ralink?) mt7601u kernel driver. As long the dongle matches the photo in the listing it should have the same chipset. It has very low power consumption and at least with my wifi router gets the maximum 10mbit/sec throughput for downloads on my internet connection at a distance of 5 meters. I also added to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf .... blacklist xradio_wlan …

I have the Orange Pi Zero - working using last week's nightly build which has the WIFI intact and I've since updated using the usual apt-get upgrade. The WIFI is awful - wired is fine - I'm using Xenial - nmtui to setup - and I have two issues - despite turning off WIFI power management and being no more than 3ft away from the (new) access point - WIFI is so sluggish you can tell when typing into a terminal!! Also despite what nmtui should do - if I turn off the access point (simulating an issue with say power) and back on, the Orange Pi Zero will NOT reconnect even minutes later without rebooting. Anyone have ideas as to (a) how to improve the WIFI to make it us…

  59. Hello; It was tried with armbian buster, stretch and bionic. Orange pi zero connect wpa/wpa2 networks without problems, but connect to open network. I was trying different methods and wpa_supplicant conf file (key_mgmt=NONE) and different version of armbian. It cannot connect to open network. I need a solution for this problem. Thanks.

  60. With mainline kernel and its xradio module i cant connect to any open wifi networks. I tried wpa_supplicant network-manager and networking but this device just refuse to connect ap's that doesnt have encryption. This problem not related to performance nor coverage so please not say just crappy sources, dont have datasheet etc. and please try to fix this major problem. Thanks..

  64. I'm connected to my Orange PI Zero over serial. I have a WiFi connection configured in NetworkManager on the Zero to my home AP/gateway, and it can connect to the internet over it. However: the Zero does NOT reply to ARP requests. I have tried running wireshark on multiple other machines on the same LAN, both wired and wireless, i have run tcpdump on the router, and none of them have EVER seen an ARP reply coming from the Zero. Obviously this means that no machine on the network can discover the MAC address of the Zero, and cannot connect to it... unless... the Zero first connects out. once the Zero has sent a packet to a machine, the machine will …

  65. I just ordered a couple of Orange Pi Zero systems to use in small IoT projects. Reading the forum I see the wireless for Orange Pi Zero might have issues. But some of the posts wanted to use it as an AP. That's not my case, I'll test them when they get here, but just how bad is it? I will not have a heavy load, but I would like something stable. When push comes to shove should I plan on using an Ethernet cable rather than the wifi?

  66. Started by Sdpetersen,

I've set up my new OPi Zero as a wireless AP running the latest Armbian build for the OPi0. It's working mostly great. My one problem I'm having is that my speeds seem to be throttled to 5-6Mbps. I connect wirelessly from my phone and run a speed test and get 5-6Mbps. If I connect directly to my router, I get 30Mbps. I have a Rpi3 set up about the same as the OPi0, and when I connect it up I get the full 30. Each time I've tested with the OPi and RPi, my phone is the only device connected. So, I've poked around online and I can't seem to figure out if it's a hardware limitation or if it's a software/driver/setting limitation. Also, if it's the latter, how/where to…

  67. Hi everyone, I was doing speed tests on the XR819 and started looking at the driver code. My this looks very similar to the cw1200 driver already in mainline Linux. I started modifying the cw1200 driver to try and get it to work with the XR819. Apart from someone renaming functions and adding a bunch of important junk for XR819, the drivers are quite similar. I've modified the cw1200 driver up to the point that it's loading the boot_cw1x60.bin ( boot_xr819.bin ) file, but for some reason the bootloader is returning an error instead of success. I don't think it's possible to diagnose this without the datasheet from ST. Clearl…

  70. Hi, I just realized that my Orange Pi Zero running Armbian now shows a completely wrong temperature reading using cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp This has not been the case until I updated to Armbian 5.38 by apt upgrade some days ago. Before that the reading was plausible. Not sure which exact version I was running before. I have a cpu temp monitoring script running and just realized that it now gets garbage. At the moment I get a reading of -12°C when outside temp is about 0°C (the OrangePi is in a water proof box outside on my roof). Not a serious problem, but seems to be a bug, so would be nice if it could be addressed :-) . …

  95. Hi, i have an orangepi zero 2w and tried noble gnome image with the "current" kernel (v6.6.x). I activated the gpu via armbian-config and reboot. Then it stucks somewhere in the booting process. It shows nothing on the screen.
