I'm running an updated armbian stretch mainline on a nanopi neo and hitting a wall where I thought there would be no obstacles in my path. I'm using 433Mhx Tx and Rx devices so I'm building WiringNP (from FriendlyArm) and rfoutlet (from github.com/timleland/rfoutlet.git). I'm getting errors such as wiringPi ISR: Not implemented when running RFSniffer. [This is the current error, it's been one after another]. My mind is muddled at the moment since I've done this kind of thing several times in the past on other devices including the Orange Pi Zero. Can someone tell me if this is me, or if it's a NanoPi Neo-thing? Shouldn't this be straight-forwa…

Hi, I want to use g_ether on NanoPi Neo Plus2. For Neo Air, I have already figured out how to do this and I can see usb0 in config. But with armbian 5.85 (4.19.38-sunxi64), the same instructions fail at sudo ifconfig usb0 up with the message "usb0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device". Could somebody tell me how to activate USB OTG on NanoPi Neo Plus2 and then use g_ether. I think the same holds true for g_serial. This could be an alternative, but I would prever ethernet connection. My target: Connect NanoPi Neo Plus2 with NanoPi Neo Air via Ethernet Thank you for your help! Steps I followed for g_ether:

Hi, I'm having some instability issues with WiFi driver on Orange Pi Zero Plus, it uses RTL8189FTV instead of buggy XR819 chip. Some times it just works fine, but that's not always the case, some times when I turn on the board the driver is not able to turn on the WiFi chip, and it keeps stuck in a limbo state... The kernel identify the network device as (wlan0), but it's impossible to turn on or connect to any network. sudo dmesg | grep -Ei '(8192eu|rtl|wl|realtek)' [ 236.057560] RTL871X: Failed to init Power On! Hi, I have a Bananapi M1 running long Time with Debian Jessie. Now I installed Armbian Buster and always when I activate GPIO Pins my Network is gone on the integrated Card. Also GPIO is not working because of the Network Card. I tried to deactivate the Network Card and use an external WirelessLAN Card but the internal Card is still blocking my GPIO's. On Jessie and Wheezy before that was working perfect. Any advise? BR Peter

the nand-sata-install always proposes the sda1 as a destination. this did not fit what i needed. i have had success by editing the file and replace all sda1 with sdxx (whatever i need) and then it works (the information gives the wrong size in the initial screen). i looked into the code (but i do not understand bash programming): it seems that sda1 is hardwired despite the intention to find all possible destinations and to offer them. it is a useful utility, as it does several things at once (copy stuff, change fstab) which are otherwise separate coordinated steps. thank you for the utily! andrew install into nand did the correct copying, but did not …

Hello ! I know that there are already topic talking about that, but they didn't helped me. I have Armbian 5.38 Desktop. I plugged the camera, and I think it's on the right side: I followed instruction of Garlic here: Nevertheless, with motion I get a grey screen telling me that the camera is undetected: I noticed a very small impact on the cable after the delivery of the camera, but because it is very small, I don't think it's the cause. I don't understand, and any help is welcome. Thank you !

Cubieboard2 becomes unreachable on ethernet if the switch to which the CB2 connected to is rebooted/powered off then on. Every other devices communicate after the restart, except CB2, it needs an on/off to make its networking work again. Why? It has fixed IP, and also set fixed mac address, but no luck. It runs the latest armbian (5.38), with mainline kernel

Hello Everyone! Need your help to difficult task. I'm a newbie to micro-computers. Recently installed Armbian on Orange Pi PC Plus (H3), but can't connect to a TVusing HDMI-VGA adapter. Get just black screen, but once got a pink image (as in attachment). That HDMI-VGA adapter works well with notebook and shows picture on this TV. However, this adapter works well with Orange Pi and my Iiyama computer monitor in VGA mode. So, i completely dont understand why Orange Pi not working especially with my Sharp TV. Native resolution of TV is WXGA (1360x768). I tried many resolutions and got black screens, but in XGA (1024x768) resolut…

Hello, it is been awhile since I used armbian with Orange PI, now I took one orange PI NEO on it's connector is UART0, UART1 and UART2. My goal is to use all UARTS available on board. Googling a little I found the part where I should use BIX2FEX to convert script.bin and insert port definitions there, bot looks like that way is obsolete. looks by default only one uart is initialized: root@nanopineo:/boot# cat /proc/tty/driver/serial serinfo:1.0 driver revision: 0: uart:16550A mmio:0x01C28000 irq:49 tx:11630 rx:0 RTS|DTR 1: uart:unknown port:00000000 irq:0 2: uart:unknown port:00000000 irq:0 3: uart:unknown port:00000000 irq:0 4: uart:unknow…

I've tried both revisions (Bionic and Stretch) for this board located at: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ Both have the same issue. When I boot from sd card, run armbian-config, and attempt to transfer armbian OS to emmc I get an error 'no target'. I know that there is indeed built 8GB flash, because when I pull the sdcard, and power the board it boots into the pre-configured android OS. Here is a picture I took of the board: https://photos.app.goo.gl/5ELPTTnPbZXAybhe9 Any advise would be helpful. Thank You.

Hi, Just as my last post. I want to know if it is possible to wakeup opi3 after I switch its state to "mem" or "disk" using gpio on CON12. I have doing some reasch but I don't know if it is right: PL/PM port can be used as wakeup source. PF/G/H/L/M port support interrupt event. PC/D didn't support interrupt. But when I try to write a device tree file, but it just report some error with error code -22. My device three is like this: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun50i-h6"; /* * This fragment is needed only for the internal pull-up activation, * external pull-up resistor is highly recommended if using long wires */…

Hey Community! I installed Armbian Jessie without any problem to SD Card. HDMI was the default screen output, and I changed to VGA with the help of this topic: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/445-debian-images-cubietruck-vga-output-problem/ The next boot went fine, VGA works. But, after the system upgrade-update, after the reboot the screen is HDMI again. I checked the card's file system with NAND ubuntu, the output order (the 4 row) is 4-4-4-4. So, I can't understand. The VGA monitor is fine, working in the next few phase before the kernel starts, but after that: just blinking. If I connect the Samsung HDTV, the desktop present there.... Thanks for t…

I bough an Orange Pi PC set 9 which came with a camera ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Orange-Pi-PC-set-9-Pi-PC-and-Camera-with-wide-angle-lens-not-for-raspberry/32662572137.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.dIEdek ) After setting up armbian running etc. how do I do something with the camera (ie to see it works)? I have used raspberry and there I just type "raspistill -d" and a demo pops up. How do I do something like that? After browsing around I found that "modprobe gc2035" is along those lines but I only get "command not found". Doing a linux find does not find "modprobe". I reckon I have to install something else but what?

Like whaaaaaa... Okay, so long and frustrating story short, I have been having inexplicable stability issues on my Banana Pro. I have blamed the SD card, the power supply, the micro USB cable, but none of those leads seemed to actually lead anywhere. I connected up a Fluke multimeter to the SATA power output, set to peak min mode, to see if I get any undervolting... Nope, no problem there. I ran stress tests on my sd card on my computer - it was PERFECT. I was completely stumped... Until, after getting an Anker charging cable, and having a really good run with the new Armbian release - the system had been working for an hour without glitches, apt-get worked, I hav…

Hi, I've got a pair of OrangePi 3 LTS boards running the CLI only install of Debian Bullseye with a kernel of 5.15.89-sunxi64 and all the latest updates applied. But when I run the 'top' command, I always see a load of 1.0 or higher. Even when the system is completely idle. I'm running the system of the eMMC, not SDcards. I realize that this is really more of a cosmetic issue, but I was hoping someone had a suggestion on how to fix it. The system is mostly idle, it's a test box or remote management system, so it's not really critical, and the load doesn't go high anyway. Cheers, John

Hi, I just installed ARMBian on my Banana Pi M2+ (BPi-M2+) and think to do the same on my router Banana Pi R1 (BPi-R1). As the WiringPi is created for GPIOs from Raspberry Pi, I presume there are perhaps not the same on those Banana Pi boards. But I discovered there are many Wiring libraries for this GPIO use on the BPi. Does somebody give back its knowledge to know which Wiring library is the best for those two Banana Pi boards ? - WiringBP - WiringOP - MikuPi I want to use them for reading Temperature and Humidity (DHT22) and a sonar sensor (HC-SR04). And further with a NFC rader. Sincerely thanks for your help.

I under stand OPi-GPIO is a drop-in replacement library for RPi.GPIO for the Orange Pi Zero. It added a new GPIO pin definition GPIO.SUNXI. However, I cannot find its definition. Can somebody let me know or point me to a link where it is defined? Thanks.

I recently ordered 3 A20-OLinuXino-LIME2-e16GB devices (with 16GB eMMC) and received rev. K boards. Unfortunately, I have troubles with both "official" Olimex eMMC rel 16 image and latest (as of last week) Armbian Stretch images. Both images booted fine from SD card (also tried multiple SD cards, one of them bought from Olimex ) and I was able to run the emmc.sh / nand-sata-install scripts fine. Now the troubles started as I turned off the device, removed the sd-card and tried to boot from eMMC. All 3 boards had entered FEL mode. From fel mode I was able to use the `sunxi-fel` utility and push the uboot fine... Initially I was able to g…

Hi All, I am working on project using Qt(IDE), C++(language) and opencv libraries. The board I am using is Olimex Olinux A64. In the project I have a GUI that displays the input from a camera and has various status indicator labels. These labels indicate various states the system is in at any particular instance of time. I load different images in the labels to indicate different states. As of now the trigger to change the image of a label comes from soft buttons written in c++ using the Qt buttons layout. I am trying to find a way to control the change of images in the labels using hardware buttons that are connected to the GPIOs of the A64 board. Cou…

Hello, I'm running Armbian wiith Kernel 3.4.112-sun8i on an Orange PI PC. In addition I compiled WiringOP patched for Orange PI to check GPIO. I have connected a transmitter which communicates using SPI and an additional GPIO PIN to send interrupts. The device is not working yet and I try to find out the problem. It works fine with an Rasp. For example, I'm a little bit confused about the following: /sys/class/gpio/gpio5/direction shows me "in" "gpio readall" shows me: | 18 | 1 | OUT | GPIO.5 | 5 | 24 | Of course, I could change the mode using the gpio command, but I would expect, that both values match? Could it be too, that the inter…

Hi All Please can someone assist me. I'm at my wits end here. I have an Orange Pi Lite running Armbian 5.30 desktop edition. I want to rotate the display 90deg. I've been having a rather odd issue with an entirely pink screen upon cold boot. I tried with Raspbian and it didn't occur there. This has actually prevented me from using the device at all now. When I first set it up, I was able to Ctrl C the setup stuff and type in reboot. When it rebooted, I was able to use it again. However, last night the Wifi completely died. I tried everything to revive it but it kept asking for the password repeatedly. Tried different networks, no luck. Figured power cycling might help. Bad idea. Now I can't SSH in to type in reboot, and I'm now permanently stuck on a pink screen. Doesn't matter if …

Hello. I install the 5.35 Version on a OrangePiPc+, all run in good condition. After reboot, no Ethernet and no USB, no possibility to login. I tried all versions with kernel 4.x, even desktop, no function. Anyone has a idea, how it will be run??? Thank's for any idea. P.S. Hi there, I am new here, and new to Armbian I have a Orange Pi Plus2 and I am trying to make a project to present Spotify as an iPod over USB, so that it can be used in vehicles / docks that support iPod connectivity via USB Some of this work has already been done here on the iPod USB gadget driver side https://github.com/oandrew/ipod-gadget Using the standard premade armbian builds I cannot compile the source code as the headers are missing. Therefore I compiled Armbian from source using INSTALL-HEADERS=yes, mainline Jessie. As there is no option for the Orange Pi Plus2 board, I used the Orange Pi plus config instead. …

Ok, so, first of all, I am a complete noob. I bought Banana Pi thinking that it is similar to Raspberry Pi's architecture but it's obviously not. I bought a 240x240 Waveshare 1.3 inch hat and I was wondering how to get it working on my Banana Pi Zero (H2+). On Raspberry Pi I can use Juj's fbcp-ili9341 driver but it's probably not compatible with Armbian, right? How do I go about it? Also, it would be nice to know how to detect buttons (that are on the hat) and convert them to key strokes. Thanks!

Hello, I managed to run OPi as a media player using OpenELEC (works charmingly fast - much much better than on RasPi), bun on Armbian (legacy kernel - 3.4.113) something went not too good Firsty, I burn desktop Xenial image onto SD card, dropped into Orange, and everything worked fine besides sound via HDMI - even locally played MP3 files were stuttering, not mentioning Youtube in Chromium - CPU usage was in range of 30-40 percent. Sound in TV speakers were annoying- one second of music, long pause, repeated until I press stop button. So I gave up with Xenial, write a Jessie server image (also legacy kernel), installed XFCE with all recommende…

Hi guys, I've been having problems on my NanoPi Duo implementing a music streaming service using Alsa PCM to output the audio. When calling snd_pcm_open with the nonblock flag set, I had snd_pcm_writei returning a broken pipe error several times per day (when continuously playing). I noticed not setting this flag and, thus, allowing snd_pcm_writei to block until there was enough room in the Alsa PCM buffer, did not show this problem. This was however unusable because the blocking behaviour slowed down the rest of the software enough to be annoying. I think I solved it now by checking with snd_pcm_avail_update if there's enough room available, …

Just stumbled upon this new board by the Friendlyarm folks. http://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=197 Lots of signals exposed on the strip contacts, including Ethernet and USB, though magnetics and connectors aren't there, which makes this even more interesting to build thin appliances: you add connectors when you need them. Good! I'll probably order a couple to start playing with, but will take forever to ship over here.

Hi, At the beginning I would like to emphasize that I am not an expert in linux :) I use bananapi m2 + v1.1 in my project. Until now everything worked well with the SD card on armbian 5.25. Hello, I've just found a topic about removing Allwinner legacy. I work with Orange Pi PC Plus board, H3 CPU. Hello, I'm following this project : I was recently spending time on the activities to do with children, 3D printing and robotics, and in order to be able to try to follow https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ i have bought a new laptop which respect the requirements (SSD, ram...). So now my next goal is to try to make a custom version of armbian dedicated to the schools. To start, for the first step, I would like to try make a localized version of armbian in French by default, in order to be more easier for the French speaking user. With the new evolutions of armbian for OrangePiPC+, there is an ubuntu…

Hi all. I'm new, so don't hit too hard. I'm interested in how the NAS Dock for NanoPi Neo2 is defined in the system. I want to install OpenWRT, because I need a NanoPi based router. Armbian seems to me too complicated for such tasks. If you put OpenWRT on NEO2, then NAS Dock is not detected in the system. At that time Armbian determines, I can easily open the HDD or connect devices to the dock's USB port. Please tell me. Which module or driver is responsible for the dock to be defined in the system? The Openwrt forum has not yet been able to help me, so I'm writing here. Help as you can. Скрытый текст Привет всем. Я новичо…

I was hoping I could find some information as to why linux-jessie-root-next-bananapipro was being held on my BPi Pro system. The kernel and u-boot packages have been upgraded. I've held back on updating linux-jessie-root-next-bananapipro because I'm concerned it would break something. Is there some log file I should look at or some documentation somewhere?

Hi there. I use Orange Pi zero as home print server. It works for few months for now and I am very pleased with that. Although, my printer falls into deep sleep after printing (it's Brother HL-1110EW) and cannot be woken up by the server. I have to start printer manually to print next printouts. Thus I wanted to install tea4cups to drive a relay turning the printer on and off when needed. I installed the WiringOP-zero (from here: https://github.com/xpertsavenue/WiringOP-Zero) but then strange things become to happen. I connected temporarily a LED diode to indicate the changes of the GPIO. (GPIO-7 and GND). The LED is on all the time, no matter what command I se…

Good morning, I am designing a board to use a NanoPi Neo Core. By default it comes without Wifi or BlueTooth. I had thought about putting the AP6212 chip on it. Can someone tell me if it is compatible with Armbian in its latest versions? Thank you and best regards!

The latest mainline u-boot + lamobo R1 patch does not appear to work when you try dhcp or ping on a Lamobo R1 (also known as Banana Pi R1) board. I wonder if the u-boot code needs to be modified to take care of the specifics of the GMAC/switch chip on a Lamobo R1 board. The defconfig for Lamobo R1 is the same as that for Banana Pi. Please shed some light to this issue. Thanks a lot. JLu

Hi everyone, I connected my board with my PC via serial USB. Then I opened a serial with minicom and tried to test it out. I can send the strings from my board to PC without any problems but when I write something on the PC it sends garbage to my board. But, if I connect the TX, RX like: TX->TX RX->RX instead of TX->RX, RX->TX it sends normal from the PC and garbage from the board. I checked my baud rates but everything seems legit. I tried both 9600, 115200 bit rates, I also tried the both voltages (5V, 3.3V) What do you think could cause this problem? I saw this thread but seems like ther…

I believe that ethernet adaptor is not working properly because there's only one led blinking and its unable to receive ip address. I have tried to configure it with yaml files and manually with networkd and with static ip. I also tried to run dhcp on that interface and it received random ip outside of my network. Had no luck with network-manager either, it threw an error "ip configuration could not be reserved" With desktop image ethernet worked with no problem. So maybe there's a driver issue?

Hi guys, I'm a bit lost with this one. I want to setup a way of basically reinstalling a NanoPi Neo over the network. My thought process is: 1. Boot from NFS. 2. In the boot process have a script that runs the nand-sata-install.sh (or modified version of). 3. Reboot with new OS from USB. Now, I'm sure I can get this working, the bit that I am having trouble working out is how the bootloader will know if we should be loading from NFS or USB. Can UBoot grab this from the network? Ideally this will also be done without SSH access. I know this is a complicated problem but any guidance in the right direction will be really appreciated. Thanks!

it appears the pins on the esp8266 12e are also on the orange pi one. Can I connect the pins to an armbian orange pi one and then test the esp8266 12e? I want to test if wifi works. Is required software present in armbian? Or should I get an usb adapter https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1pm33XifrK1RjSspbq6A4pFXaf.jpg?width=1000&height=1000&hash=2000 and utilize a x86 gnulinux computer? It says the esp8266 12e supports i2c. Does the orange pi one have i2c pins, such that I can test the wifi of the esp8266 12e from an i2c connection on the armbian orange pi one? Is required software present in armbian? Thanks.

Hello Armbian team, I must start by thanking you for the effort you put into Armbian and making it possible for us to get the best of our boards. Your work is appreciated! The problem that I have been facing is that my OPI lite 2 functions correctly when it boots, but after a while I see a couple of sunxi-mmc errors in the logs and the filesystem becomes inaccessible and the board unusable. Hi Igor, hi all, I use a BPi M1 and today I tested Igor's debian wheezy 4.1.2 image. It works really great. Thanks a lot. As mentioned in the FAQ I had a look at /etc/init.d/cpufrequtils. As written there it is possible to change the frequencies. The possible values are stored in "scaling_available_frequencies". The default value for "max_speed" in Igor's image is "max_speed=1010000". But this value ist not available inside "scaling_available_frequencies". "cpufreq-info -m" tells the current policy: frequency shoukd be within 480-960 MHz. 960 MHz is the maximum value in "scaling_available_frequencies". Normally BPi is able to run at 1008 MHz. How can I change…

With every upgrade I struggle with a "changed to default" login welcome message and have to do my modifications again. Therefore I would like to explain my changes and hope you can integrate them in the default version...: Your welcome message prints the $BOARD_NAME as ASCII art. Probably you have dozens of boards and can distinguish them in this way. So after login-in you directly see which board it is. I have only one type of "boards" (Cubietruck) and distinguish them by their hostname. So I have to replace "$BOARD_NAME" with "$(hostname -s)" in /etc/update-motd.d/10-header to identify my boards. What do you think about a change in that direction?

Hello everybody! I would like to make a home media server with my HDD connected to Banana Pi (on SATA). I want to run Torrent client with WebUI, dlna and VPN server thereon. I`m stucked with fstab file configuration. First I tried to format my HDD`s partition to NTFS, every permission was good, but Transmission download, and FSTP file download was incredibly slow (4MB/s, but I have gigabit internet connection). The fstab configuration was this: UUID=<the uuid of the ntfs partition> /mnt/DataHDD ntfs defaults,auto,umask=000,users,rw 0 0 I`ve readed that, ext4 filesystem can be faster, so I decided to format the partition to ext4. After that, I changed…

Hi guys, I just installed Kodi on my Orange Pi Lite running Armbian. Everything worked very well, except for the fact that that there seemed to be no audio at all through my tv. The FAQ says the username is "root" and the password is "1234", but the password for the root user on at least the image in Lamobo-r1_Debian_3.2_jessie_4.1.2.zip is "pi" (apparently also the default bananian password). edit: nope, I'm just an idiot. The docs are right. Sorry! Don't see a way to delete this topic, but I would if I could.

[BANANA PI PRO - SO running on SD] So, on every system upgrade I do, I end up with something broken. Normally it won't boot because of some kernel misconfiguration or due the encrypted HDD that I use connected to it. On the last upgrade the same occurred. However, normally, I can solve stuff by myself. This time I couldn't fix everything (yet). I think that the only solution would be me compiling the kernel myself. First the system wouldn't boot. After a few kernel replacements, I could make it boot, kind of. If I have my encrypted LUKS HDD connected to it, it will boot to some degree and hang in there forever. If I take it …

Hi, Need to have a point to point ethernet network without any router or dhcp server in between two OPiPC running legacy and Ubuntu desktop. Currently, when I connect a ethernet cable between them, they get valid IPs (IPv4LL) after 5 minutes so that might be the dhcp timeout today (300sec?).
