I have Armbian 4.5 Jessy Legacy 3.4.109 running in the internal NAND and tried to do apt-get update+upgrade what bricked the device. As precaution I setup an identical system on a CubieBoard 2, where the upgrade went fine. After two days of testing on this test board, I tried it the same way on my real server but it failed. The board is not completely bricked, but network is not working anymore which limits my access dramatically. This is what I did and the output during upgrade: root@Cube# uname -a Linux Cube 3.4.109-sun7i #5 SMP PREEMPT Wed Oct 14 20:33:00 CEST 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux root@Cube# apt-get update Get:1 http://security.debian.orgjessie/updates InRele…

Hi everyone, after getting Igor's image for Jessie with kernel 3.4.109 on January 10th, I did an upgrade and now I get: uname -a Linux cubieVDR 3.4.110-sun7i #10 SMP PREEMPT Mon Dec 28 11:48:43 CET 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux However, unfortunately I also get modprobe bcmdhd modprobe: FATAL: Module bcmdhd not found. According to http://www.armbian.com/documentation/, it does not say anything about having to do something special to obtain the module in the section called "How to set wireless access point?". Also, on another machine running kernel 3.4.108, everything is working fine (see my post in this forum). What do I need to do to get the AP working? Cheers…

Hi friends! Here is the situation. Trying the armbian jessie 3.4.109 and 4.2.3. When installing a new soft it takes to much time. For example, when running apt-get upgrade after fresh image install, it takes about 17 minutes. Of course it contain the core update. But that upgrade part on jessie takes about 7min, on wheezy about 3min. The same thing when just install some software, like apache2 or mc. It takes to much time (for mc it takes about 1 min on jessie, about 30sec on wheezy). The same with reloading. It takes about 1min. Situation is the same on both jessie 3.4.109 and 4.2.3 Tried the same with Banana PI. The same thing. I use the fastest SD card. …

I'm trying to install upstream kernel on Cubieboard 2 and kernel never starts. Attached is output from boot (I'm getting same on serial port). I did try different sdcard (to rule out problems with it) but I'm worried about ext4fs_devread read error and partition error. Is there something more that I can try? Couple of Questions: 1 I don't have a heat sink on the CPU, do I need one? 2 I haven't done anything to the CPU speed, and running Wheezy and Jessie off of different SD's. Is overclocking turned on in the release? It is really cold here in the high Desert, right around freezing for 4 to 12 hours every night. Not as cold as northern EU, but cold. The room temp is probably 60-65 degrees F. I have the Micro in the Micro case from Olimex. Does the processor need a heat sink? thanks in advance Mike

  23. Hi (and happy new year everyone!), I recently put a SSD in my Cubietruck and installed the Cubietruck Vanilla Image (with Kernel 4.x) on it. This is working fine, but what bugs me is the fact that I still need to have a microSD-card installed. As far as I understood, the bootloader cannot directly boot to SATA (missing drivers). How does the bare Image on the microSD-card achieve this? And even more important: How can I move the 'important' part (which does the bootloading and SATA drivers) to NAND so I can boot without a microSD-card installed? Thanks in advance!

  28. Hi! Happy new year! Recently, I experienced a strange date problem on my Cubitruck. After a reboot or a powerdown/powerup the date is set to Jan, 1 1970 00:00:00 UTC (aka epoch). Here goes: The partition starts with a small boot partition containing the initial boot parameters, configuration, and a pointer to the partition holding the root file system we want to boot. The boot partition is followed by some number of other partitions, like this: [bOOT]-[sWAP]-[COMMON]-[COPYOF-DISTO-1-BOOT]-[DISTO-1-ROOT-FILE-SYSTEM]-[COPYOF-DISTO-2-BOOT]-[DISTO-2-ROOT-FILE-SYSTEM]... Hi Igor, while playing with your Armbian and kernel to squeeze even more juice from my cubietruck, i would ask you if you think it would be possible to add to your kernel and u-boot build the support for KVM. Here one experiment with KVM: https://rwmj.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/kvm-working-on-the-cubietruck/ Then, partially related with this, it would be nice to have the watchdog enabled to fight the occasional low level hang that happens sometimes (all freezed with 4 led on).

Probably after this commit: - https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/commit/70231cf8ae641650ec8601124db33b5b186a285b This should be why my USB dac doesn't work anymore after an update of the system. Is there any reason or it's only an error? I must thank you Igor for your work.

Hi @Igor you should consider changing imagetool when you ship your image files since the Suse image tool is quite broken on Windows platforms 8 or higher since its often just gives a blank non function interface that crashes upon pressing buttons. Perhaps Rufus would be a better alternative

  48. Hi. I'm a new user. I have a Banana PI M1+, that is connected to a monitor with maximum resolution of 1280x1024 and with only DVI port. I'm using Armbian_4.5_Bananapi_Debian_jessie_3.4.109, and I installed XFCE using tasksel. If I leave it without any user interaction, the monitor goes to sleep, and I'm not able to wake it up anymore. But it works, because I'm able to connect to it using putty from another computer. So I tried to install Armbian_4.5_Bananapi_Debian_jessie_3.4.109, but I have the same problem. I tried also to disable "Switch Off After" in the Display section of power management without success. Can someone help me please?

Hello, I am new to armbian and am quite impressed of the ease of installation and use. I copied the vanilla headless Debian jessy to a spare SD and the board booted right away. So first of all, many thanks to the developers! I rely on GPIO for my application of the board, so I first tested the export of a GPIO. Normally, the kernel from Olimex gives me something like "gpio64_pg0", which is not very compatible to the programs out in the internet (e.g. OpenHAB.org which I use), so – with this kernel – I was happy to get a standard "gpio1" when echoing "1" to "export". But as soon as I tried to change the direction echo out > gpio1/direction the whole board…

Hello again, since I use the NAND-Flash to boot and I want to use the new kernel, which doesnt support NAND yet, I'm curious if its possible to use both: 1. Can I boot the new kernel from NAND? Since the new kernel is started after uboot, it should be possible? 2. Afterwards I have no possibility to update the kernel again. Or do I have? (Without SD-Card) a.) the nand-tools requires the nand-driver??? Or is there a possibility to writea prebuild image to nand without kernel-nand-support? b.) is it possible to start an old kernel from the new for upgrading? Tried "kexec uImage", but it doesnt work. Maybe I need the zImage instead of uImage? best regards

Hello, in Armbian TCP buffers are already set. I can change them by putting new values to /etc/sysctl.conf. But, is this elegant? Or would it be better to change directly the values from armbian? In which file configures Armbian the TCP buffers? Thanks a lot and best regards, Michael

  99. Hi, Recently while I was using the banana pro, it locked itself up and I had to manually pull out the power. And after that, it cannot boot anymore with armbian or bananian, the red light turned on and thats it, no more activities. :-( But with lemaker's oficial image it can boot up normally. What could be the problem? Do I have a faulty hardware? Thanks!

  100. Hello, I am setting up a filserver, using a BPi and a WD Red 3TB connected to the sata port of the BPi. The BPi runs armbian v4.5 with vanilla kernel. For the first tuning I used the recommandations from tkaiser (thanks a lot for that). The only difference is, that I use ondemand as govenor and the frequency values out of the armbian image (thanks a lot to igore for the great work). root@bananapi:~# sysctl -a | grep mem net.core.optmem_max = 65535 net.core.rmem_default = 163840 net.core.rmem_max = 8738000 net.core.wmem_default = 163840 net.core.wmem_max = 6553600 net.ipv4.igmp_max_memberships = 20 net.ipv4.tcp_mem = 8874 11832 17748 net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 8192 …
