I've built https://github.com/auto3000/RPi.GPIO_NP for the Duo running Armbian Ubuntu test image: cd /sys/class/gpio for i in gpiochip* ; do echo `cat $i/label`: `cat $i/base` ; done 1c20800.pinctrl: 0 1f02c00.pinctrl: 352 Has anyone actually got RPi.GPIO working on Duo? I'm trying to get luma.oled cranking and have SPI working fine, but need GPIO working as well.

Hi, I am newbie in Debian. I have an inquiry regarding this matter. I am having USB Wifi Dongle installed @ my OPi Zero H2+. It has built-in NIC (Eth0 & WLAN1) for the Debian Stretch. I am using this PI for the FlightAware purposes. 1. I connect to Eth0 from the beginning to access SSH and update all required updates. 2. I use nmtui for the USB Wireless connected to the Wireless AP. 3. Reboot the PI. 4. Install my PiAware 3.5.3 as per their instruction. 5. All Installed without any issue. I noticed that the MAC address of the USB Wireless Dongle is as follow:- wlx7c8bca1f3ad1: …

Hi, I have a problem to comunicate with sim800l via UART3 or any other UART. Is there way to activate UART3 on Linux PiOne 4.14.18-sunxi kernel if it is not already activated. I could find DTB files but I do not know how to view them or transfer to DTS and read/modify them to se if there could be a problem. I'm using pins 8 and 10 for UART3 on 40Pin header and try to comunicate with putty and screen over /dev/ttyS3 but no luck. Any idea what is going on? Sim800L works fine over pl2303.

Dear all, Starting from NAND memory used to work fine on the nanopi neo plus2, however with the new boards (both v1.2 and v2.0 revision) we just obtained it frequently doesn't want to reboot, while a cold boot works fine (I tried also earlier u-boot versions (2019.04, 2018.11) without much success for the reboot from NAND). The re-boot process stops at this point (from the serial console): [ OK ] Reached target Shutdown. [ 152.452083] reboot: Restarting system U-Boot SPL 2019.10-armbian (Jan 25 2020 - 19:56:27 +0100) DRAM:…

I'm trying to set up an OPi Zero Plus 2 with Armbian Buster. As the board has no soldered USB connectors and mine is still in the mail, I was forced to do all this via the serial console via the three pins on the board. (So no nano or nmtui or anything that has an interface.) I run into a problem where a) I couldn't join my WiFi network and b) NetworkManager refused to believe I don't want to use IPv6. So I had to disable NetworkManager and go the wpa_supplicant route. So now I'm in the position that I got everything to work BUT I have to *manually* enable wpa_supplicant and then issue ifdown and ifup - all via the serial console - at every boot be…

Hi there! I've just compiled from armbian buil tools a new image for Orange Pi 3 LTS. Then flash it on sdcard, anything was well, but armbian doesn't start at all. Nothing on the HDMI, nothing on the debug serial. Also LED doesn't light. I've tried two images: ubuntu jammy with GNOME and next case XFCE. Both cases didn't work. I've downloaded prebuilt image from armbian.org and it starts well. In my opinion, some problem with custom images in u-boot. but I don't know how to give a diagnosis.

Hello. I've got physically rotated HDMI monitor and try using Olimex Lime 2 with simplefb graphics. I could rotate console in kernels compiled with CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE_ROTATION=y by using echo 3 > /sys/class/graphics/fbcon/rotate But what about graphical sessions? Like I install some desktop environment and in its screen properties rotation is grayed out! Any instructions please how to make HDMI screen rotation working with latest Igor's Olimex Lime 2 images? Preferrably for 4.x kernel since I believe it is more free software without proprietary blobs and plain software simplefb graphics handling. If I only could rotate it! Any help? …

Hi Folks, I installed armbian Jessie with Desktop and Kernel 4.6.3 on my Banana Pi. I'm glad to see, that most of modules I need are installed and working properly. Good job, thanks! But there is one little problem I've got with the kernel. I need pwm (Pin PB2) to control the backlight of my LCD. With Bananian I used sunxi-pwm modul. Worked fine, but isn't installed in the kernel 4.6.3. I know there are ways to build it into the kernel. But befor I'll build an own kernel, I'm hoping of an other way to make pwm for backlight working again. I saw an pwm folder at /sys/class/pwm and also pwm-sun4i modul can be loaded. Unfortunately /sys/class/pwm is empty and stays empt…

Hi, I just want to inform that probably there is a problem with correct detection of platform. Originally I had everything set for Orange Pi Plus 2E. Hi all, I'm writing this post because I had an issue upgrading my lamobo-r1 from the previous version to the current one (Armbian_5.20_Lamobo-r1_Ubuntu_xenial_4.7.3). On reboot hwclock doesn't start so I get my clock set to epoch, wan doesn't go UP, postfix says "time stamp 2015-11-25 01:40:22 is 1448411826.350146139 s in the future", random says "uninitialized urandom read"... a total mess. As pointed out on some sites, looks like "/etc/init/hwclock.conf" has "start on starting mountall" so failing to mount could cause a failing in hwclock initialization. I also found on bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu that in recent versions with systemd, mountall became fussy about fi…

Hello, I'm new to armbian, and I have a few questions. The image on the downloads page uses the legacy kernel (default branch), I used the desktop version of armbian 5.30. But is it possible to upgrade the kernel to the mainline version (4.11)? If so how? and are there any disadvantages? For example will hardware acceleration still be possible using mpv and so on? If it is better to stay on the legacy kernel, then I let everything as is.

Greetings, I've got 2 M1 boards in front of me. The FA is running their latest distribution: http://www.mediafire.com/file/kc44mm1mdahslho/nanopi-m1_debian-jessie_4.11.2_20170905.img.zip By default the device tree for the FA has the USB controller (usb@01c19000) marked as disabled and is missing the dr_mode = "OTG" attribute. Enable the controller and Add the dr_node property and the board comes up as a mass storage device in both Windows and Linux. The board running Armbian has exactly the same device tree entries, dmesg shows the USB controller is loaded and visible with lsusb -t. When a gadget module is loaded all appears to work on…

Hi, I have Orange Pi Zero based on H2+ which is failed to boot Armbian_5.34_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.8.img Symptoms: Green power light is always on, red led next to it does not flash at all. Ethernet lights are off. I am using proper power supply and Sandisk A1 16Gb Class 10 micro sd-card. Connecting UART-USB adapter based on CP2102x to UART port next to Ethernet ports shows nothing. Exactly same setup, same hardware, no changes on connections/setup boots "Armbian_5.30_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113.img" image without any problems. UART works fine. Any ideas how I can help to test newer image?

Hi, Over the last couple of weeks, I have been trying to get Pi-hole working (and more importantly, stable) on the Orange Pi (along with the relevant Orange Pi zero H2+ ARMbian OS) without success. I realize that I am using "Tested" but as yet not marked "Stable" code, however I'm hoping this can help somebody here perhaps in terms of developing a stable OS for these little boards. I have rebuilt the SD card from scratch several time now. The SD card is of reputable make (Sandisk) and in fact I have tried two different cards, just in case this was a card issue. I'm using a reliable power supply, which I have verified by continuously monitoring it with my …

I have a Adafruit PN532 connected over UART to the orange Pi Zero on UART1(p8/10) i added the uart overlays to armbianEnv.txt and edited the libnfc.conf to include device.connstring = "pn532_uart:/dev/ttyS1" #device.connstring = "pn532_uart:/dev/ttyS1:9600". I commented included a fixed lower baudrate to test if it might have been the problem. To thest the theory i connected a arduino due to the same serial port to print somting to see if there was any communication but nothing went through the python code i used was simple : import serial ser = serial.Serial('/dev/ttyS1') print(ser.name) ser.write(b'hello') ser.close() the Arduino sc…

HI, I have the following NanoPi Neo 2 boards, hardware v 1.1, model 1711 with 1Gb RAM Linux 4.19.13-sunxi64 #5.70 SMP Sat Jan 12 17:41:57 CET 2019 aarch64 GNU/Linux I have noticed that various network related tasks fail at boot apparently at eth0 is not yet ready This includes network mounts via /etc/fstab and disabling IPv6 via /etc/sysctl.conf My current solution (which I feel is a complete bodge) is to have extra commands in /etc/rc.local that after a 5 second sleep issue a 'mount -a' and 'sysclt -p' I have tried solutions for 'wait for network' on boot but neither work. systemctl enable …

Hi, I guess this question depends on knowing the OPi Lite hardware reset button capabilities before being able to answer the following question. but here goes: Does anyone know if the OPi Lite button can be scripted/coded to not only execute a shutdown or reboot command but to do both? So, say, a single short press would gracefully reboot the OS while a long press (hold for, say, 4 seconds) would perform a shutdown? Thanks!

Hi, I can boot off an SD card, but my Teres boots off internal storage to a black screen and I'm trying to figure out why. It seems even when I set verbose=7 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt, there is little to no kernel diagnostic output, even on a working SD card. I read on the debian wiki that u-boot-menu works on the Teres, but I tried installing this on an SD card and it prevents the SD card from booting (similarly to my internal storage booting issue). I've actually compared the contents of the unallocated space in front of the filesystem between the working sdcard and the internal storage, and they differ only in the partition table. Additionally …

trying to read the serial data from the UART1 port then write it on the UART2 port .... this is absolutely easy in the case of just reading the serial data. but now what m really trying to do is to read the serial binary bits which includes the serial data and the framing data ( parity bit/stop bit/start bit) and then write all of these binary bits to the other serial port. how could this be done? how could i read the serial bits without the framing bits being stripped? thanks in advance best regards

I recently got an Orange Pi Zero 3W, and I noticed that the official Ubuntu image is still based on the sunxi BSP stack, using the sun60iw2-6.6.98 kernel, while the bootloader is also using an older version of U-Boot. Right now, I’m wondering whether it would be feasible to use AI agents to help compile an Armbian image for the Orange Pi Zero 3W with a mainline kernel, while still keeping the old vendor U-Boot for compatibility. Has anyone here experimented with a similar approach or have any good suggestions or ideas? I also really hope the official team can eventually provide a proper Armbian image for the Orange Pi Zero 3W, because I’ve run into quite a few i…

Hi all, I've one minor issue with my Lamobo R1. I've to set the coherent_pool to > 256KiB to get my USB DVB device working. But every time I set the coherent_pool to e.g. 2M and regenerate the boot.scr the device gets in an endless boot loop (starting uboot - starting kernel - changes resolution and starts to load drivers - but then crashes with graphic errors and starts all over again). Is there something I can do against this? I've compiled the v3.0 with Jessie 3.4.107 with following kernel paramters configured (and sunxi uboot v2015.04): MEDIA_SUPPORT=m VIDEO_DEV=m SOUND=m GMAC_FOR_BANANAPI=y CMA=y CMA_SIZE_MBYTES=16 Greetings, Oliver

Hi, I've not much experience on linux, so I want to ask some questions I don't find enough or helpful information getting an overview how things work. Not really an concrete question. After flashing an SD with the image for BananaPi Pro and successfully booting from it, I read the Armbian Documentation. Hi I am very new to computers. I have a raspberry pi 3 and just bought a orange pi one. My problem is I am unable to download an operating system to my working raspberry to burn to an sd card to be able to use the orange because the raspberry doesn't have enough space on my memory card. Do any of you know a company or person that could sell me an o/s that is already on a card for the orange, I have been hunting for ages for a site that sells something like noops for the raspberry. I have read that armbian edge might be the right choice if i can get it. Any help appreciated.

Hi, I bought a 3.5 inch RPi LCD display from here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32965280840.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.2a474c4dxALiQy I connected the display straight to my Orange Pi zero board. The slot on the Orange Pi Zero is flipped compared to RPi so the LCD display goes outside the board. I guess that is the right way to connect. Anyway, when I power on the board I can see illuminated screen. The problem is that everything I have tried to configure the LCD was unsuccessful. I am trying with the Armbian image mentioned in this web site: http://www.orangepi.org/orangepibbsen/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=3773 (Armbian_5.35_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_x…

Hi, I've managed to install Armbian_20.05.2_Orangepiplus2e_focal_current_5.4.43_desktop on my board. Now I'd like to get decent web-browsing performance (i.e. 1080 videos on a browser) and I've tried installing the mali drivers with no luck. Is there an updated guide that works with the latest version of armbian? Thanks in advance

I'm on the Olimex Teres running the newish Armbian Ubuntu 20.04 and I'm having a lot of trouble with the system intermittently freezing or slowing. Kernel 5.4.43 . I have a video of the issue and an image of the drive. The system isn't online to sync clock and dates may be skewed by some days. My usual routine is to boot the system into multi-user, run asciinema, run tmux, and then edit files with vim inside both. The issue starts after a bit. CPU and I/O usage stay low during the delays in responsiveness. Sorry if I am kinda irritated and frustrated in the video. I've been dealing with a lot of issues. I'm curious what systems the maintaine…

After watching a video tutorial on youtube I have attempted to use the build scripts to create a newer image for my Pcduino V2. I had been initially using an image that I found on the archives which uses kernel 4.14, this worked fine for the most part apart from shutting down which would fail 9/10 to shutdown normally. the only way I could ensure that it would shutdown was to do poweroff -f otherwise it just went into a state where most things such as the wifi and usbs would no longer be detected and i was greeted with the message failed to reach target.poweroff. from what I could find out about the issue suggested that it was some kind of issue with systemd, but I could …

Hello, long time Banana Pi user here. I have a BPI-M2+ and recently decided to write Armbian_23.02.2_Bananapim2plus_bullseye_current_5.15.93_minimal.img to emmc. I am using cat6 over gigabit LAN and am seeing scp and rsync transfers to the device averaging 1.7mb/s. Transfering an 850mb file took unusually several minutes. It starts off at 40mb/s then quickly drops to under 2mb/s. Is this typical? I would think over LAN I would be seeing much faster speeds. Untarring this same 850mb archive also took unusually long. Could the emmc be damaged or on it's way out? How would I check? Please see armbianmonitor output. https://pastebin.com/RCa…

Hello wonderful people! I am having trouble getting my SSD1351 1.5" RGB SPI OLED working with my NanoPi Neo v1.4 running armbian 23.11.1 with kernel 6.1.63.. Since the removal of fbtft_device from the linux kernel I have had a really hard time getting any screen to work with any of my SBC's (except RaspberryPi using the fbcp_ili9341 library) I have tried converting fbcp_ili9341 for use with the NanoPi but I keep getting "Failed to load VideoCore kernel Mailbox"... so I gave up on that lol.. Then I learned dtoverlay was a thing and after days of searching around I eventually found a .dts file for the SSD1351 here (https://github.com…

Hi, I got my OPiZ3 2GB model last week, but it seems to detect as 4GB sometimes. At first, I thought I got lucky and the seller shipped the 4GB model, but I realized it crashes under load when it do. and I have to restart multiple times to get it right. The issue shows up in htop and free, where it reports double the memory and swap. I’m using the Minimal/IOT image with Armbian Linux v6.6. Here's the output from armbianmonitor -u: https://paste.next.armbian.com/iguzunaved The MemTotal value switches between 4GB and 2GB. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!

Good evening. I've just installed Armbian in a OPI +2, in a 32 Gb card. The OPI is connected by LAN to my router, in the same way the PC I am using to write this message is. But "Wicd Entwork Manager" says : - "not connected" after "Obtaining IP address" if using wire-default profile. - "done connecting" after "setting IP address " id using a fix IP address setting profile, but in fact, there is no connection. Has anybody faced something like this ? Any idea ? Best regards. maesstrissimo

Hello! I tried to configure built-in wifi module to work as two wifi interfaces at the same time. I had already configured hostapd+dhcpd at the first interface, at the second interface (...iw add interface...) I could scan my home wifi network (wpa2), but I couldn't connect to it (wrong key). I used utilities to connect like wpa_cli, wpa_supplicant, iwconfig, iw. Did anybody done that, I mean is it possible? What i'm doing wrong?

I've read many posts here and understand the OPi0 wireless chip isn't very well liked. I'm trying to setup hostapd with both client and AP functionality. I can get AP working only if I dedicate wlan0 to it. It seems that virtual devices (eg iw dev wlan0 interface add uap0 type managed; ip link set uap0 up) don't work with the current jessie image, making it impossible to have both AP and client simultaneously. I'm happy to help with testing the driver, but I'm no expert and certainly not knowledgeable enough to code this sort of stuff. If there's any help to be had, I'd be grateful.

I have been using Debian Jessie on an Orange Pi Plus 2e, but decided to upgrade to Stretch so I could install Chromium (which isn't in the Jessie repositories). I substituted 'stretch' for 'jessie' in /etc/apt/sources.list, then did: $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Everything went OK, until it hung while reconfiguring network manger. I restarted and re-ran sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Everything else appeared to install OK except network-manager (which is shown as installed but half-configured) and network-manager gnome (which is shown as unpacked and not configured), If I try to fix network-manager using dpkg, this is what i get:…

Hi all After having used a lot the OPiPC2 with Armbian, I am now adding support for this board in openwrt. The first add board patch, has been merged recently in snapshot branch and works ok. For the first implementation I set the MUSB port role to host, but now my goal is to set it in OTG, making this port available for usb serial console, connecting a host PC to it. So, I built the needed support for g_serial in kernel and give a try, but I cannot make it work The host PC detects just nothing, as the OpiPC2 does not detect a USB host being connected to it Checking the dmesg I see something suspicious: [ 0.614423] sun4i-usb-phy…

Hi ! I am using Armbian_5.65_Orangepilite_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.78armbian deb stretch image on orange pi lite. Its working great for the most part, but it misses the starting portion of the audio. I have installed snips voice assistant on it and for some reason the speaker does not produce the confirmation sound output on hotword detection. But plays rest of the sound outputs after that for another 5 seconds or so. Missing the confirmation sound from a smart speaker is really annoying. Is that a bug? Is there a possible workaround? Is any way this can be solved properly? Please point me in the right direction

I have a BananaPi running 4.2 (with Wheezy) and I am getting poor network speed. When testing download a file from the internet, I am averaging ~500k/s. I have another BananaPi running 3.4 (also with Wheezy) and on that board, I am averaging ~3MB/s downloading the same file from the same location. I tested this multiple times and the results are pretty much the same. Any idea why network performance is so poor on 4.2? Thanks.

I live in the desert in California and the only Internet access I have is using PDANet on my phone. Is there a way to build an SD Card using rufus (which is a great app by the way) that I can use to load LXDE on my Olimex Micro? Hello ! I recently reimaged my BPi M1 with the vanilla headless Debian Jessie from Armbian. I cannot downgrade to it, because I'm using BTRFS with some non-compatible extensions. Note: this is a server with apache, Deluge, Plex and Sonarr. Side problems (I can live with if the first is O…

Hey there, after quite a while laying around in a box my Cubietruck finally came to life again. I downloaded the latest Xenial Vanilla Server from http://www.armbian.com/cubietruck/and set it all up. So far I'm quite happy having Wifi running. Though there are a few questions left. - I chose vanilla as i'm going to use the cubietruck headless and don't need video accel. I've been away from armbian for a few months and came back to build a new project with my orange pi one but the nightly/recent mainlines builds seem to have stopped. I need a mainline kernel, and can grab one that's a few months old, but I wanted to be sure they haven't been moved. I'm not complaining! Just asking. With the number of boards available with armbian there has to be a lot of overhead doing nightly builds with few users, so it's not too surprising to see a change. I looked thru the sticky notes, but could not find a relevant post. Thanks!

Hello all. I'm having a banana Pi and two days ago I had bananian OS on it. Now after searching online I decided to install armbian because it seems the most updated and more user-friendly one. I am having problems with the NanoPi R1. I loaded the latest Armbian for R1 on flash. All works good. I went to armbian-config to load into eMMC. The resolution I set in armbian-config is 1680x1050, but it is different from resolution that Stella uses, when I launch it on the startup. It uses the resolution defined in FEX. So I checked https://linux-sunxi.org/Fex_Guide#disp_init_configuration and tried various resolutions, but dont know which of them is 16:10 and what is the exact resolution. For example 576p can mean anything. How can I find it out? Thank you very much.

Sir, I put ubuntu trusty image on Sd card in A20-micro-4gb board. I connected serial cable to uart0 connector which has 4 pins tx,rx,gnd,3.3v. But the log shown is strange. Minicom settings are 115200, 8N1. Please confirm that debug interface is on uart0 or any other pins.

I've noticed that Armbian builds are taking a really long time to power up on Orange Pi PC and Orange Pi One. Is there some way I can see what's going on in the bootloader that's causing these long delays? Also, if I run apt-get dist-upgrade and take the latest kernel, it never boots after that point. I think something's wrong with the boot sector (or whatever it is) that is written/updated on the SDCard. The Orange Pi power LEDs don't light up until the bootloader successfully finds an OS on the SDCard. All of the builds over at orangepi.org work just fine but the Armbian ones aren't working right. I'm using a diverse collection of very high-quality SDC…
