Hello dear armbianites, I'm trying to make the hc1 optimization for the odroid HC2 board permanent, every time the kernel is updated, armbiam loses the optimization and an admin action is needed to apply the optimization again via ambianconfig > System DTB > optimized board configuration, followed by a reboot. My Odroid HC2 suffers from temperature sensor problems, which can be easily bypassed. But I avoid restarts of this server which hosts an OMV instance for personal needs. I understand that the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file passes the information to /boot/boot.ini, but this file seems to be overwritten when the kernel is updated! is t…

I am currently attempting to compile a device tree overlay, in connection with an OPi Zero 2. But my questions here are of rather general nature (with regards to DT compiling), so I posted it here. ------- Goal: Creating a DT overlay to enable certain hardware currently not working on the board: wifi and HDMI output. Alternatively, compiling a "full" .dtb file for the board, replacing the one currently used during boot. For completeness: In the below I experimented starting from the Armbian_22.08.7_Orangepizero2_bullseye_edge_5.19.16.img.xz image, 406585908 bytes. uname -a: "Linux orangepizero2 5.19.16-sunxi64 #22.0…

I am digging in my orangipi board (OPi Zero H2+) again, and have come across some questions relating to device tree overlay. Eventually, aim is to activate a hardware component of my board, and I think I have the right option found. Problems are currently with compiling and applying the overlay. From the basics upwards: 1. Is there a way to know which overlay (of the many listed in /boot/dtb/*) is actually used during boot process? For example, I know I have a board with a H2+ soc, but my armbianEnv.txt says "overlay_prefix=sun8i-h3". In any case, even this prefix cannot be the full information, since in /boot/dtb/ there are overlays fo…

Hello, First off, I'd like to thank the Armbian group for making my hobby a little more fun :) So I'm tinkering with gpio in devicetree, but I'm getting stuck. cd-gpios = <&pio 5 6 GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW>; /* PF6 */ with the excerpt from above, how/where can I find the description of 5 ?

Hello! Why if the device boots without eth0 physical link connection, and than when physical link is established, device do not get dhcp metric automatically, and network services needs to be restarted?
-
Quick question for the Banana Pro builds. I've tested with stable Armbian Bionic and Stretch. By default DHCP is disabled on eth0, so the following lines must be added to /etc/network/interfaces to get it to work: auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp But, official docs (section Common features) state: Is having DHCP disabled for ethernet by default the expected behaviour for that board ?
-
I was search dhcp packet. using the wireshark program. but i was find that dhcp packet send to the random cycle(discover, renewal). I want to know the random time of dhcp packet. it's random time that random function in the source code.

Hi, I am new at this platform. I want to know is there any difference between BIOS and manual overclocking? Can anyone give me a detail answer?
-
It doesn't differ (much). Major difference is that when you start with a Debian / Ubuntu you start with a DI (Debian Installer) and install Debian to some drive. That process is identical on all x86 Ubuntu based Linuxes. Only background / colours, configurations, perhaps an application / GRUB versions is changed ... We only provide "LIVE" image because of different hardware design / scenarios. Its more suitable this way. Once you login into Armbian, all tutorials and install cases will work the same way as they work on particular Debian / Ubuntu version https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials with rare exceptions when application does not come with arm/arm64 b…

Hello, I attempted to port the dirty COW fix (https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=19be0eaffa3ac7d8eb6784ad9bdbc7d67ed8e619) for 3.4.112, and came up with this: https://github.com/SvenKayser/Sambooca-Kernel-H3/commit/543472582a6adcef12fae4ad11da72a62f29fb74.patch Apparently it solves the issue, but to be sure maybe some of you guys can give it a test. If it checks out please do commit it in the right places for Armbian - which I wouldn't know (Armbian has so many kernel patch folders, I don't wanna mess things up) Regards Sven

Hello, when I turn on my orangepi with armbian, it automatically logs me in and shows desktop. How can I please disable autologin and auto desktop? For example, on raspberry pi after boot I see just terminal with username and password, when I type these it logs me in and stays in terminal, and when I want dekstop environment I type startx and then I am in desktop. I would like to have the same behaviour on the orangepi (first headless after boot, I juust after then I should be able to login and choose to display desktop). Many thanks.

Hi, Following advice regarding the Ubunto 18.04 issue where RDP throws you back to the login window if an account is already logged into the console, I'd like to disable autologon to the GUI on my Armbian_5.75_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.19.20 installation. I've looked up a couple of similar questions on this issue on the forum already but I think the others describe disabling the GUI altogether, which I don't want to do. Is it just a case of setting the variable NODM_USER in /etc/default/nodm to equal nothing or 0 or something else? Thanks!

Hello, I need to use the UART interface ttyS0 to connect other hardware, so I would like to disable its debug function, removing the console output that is directed to it. I've tried this: I commented the following line in /boot/boot.cmd: #setenv console "both" And compiled: mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d /boot/boot.cmd /boot/boot.scr I was not successful, could someone instruct me on how to do what I want?

I guess this is hardware-independent, so I post here. Looking for ways to disable IPv6 I found 3 ways to achieve this on Linux, none of them really working for armbian debian build. 1. /etc/sysctl.conf: net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1 this disables the network interfaces to use IPv6, not IPv6 itself. This method is also known to cause trouble e.g with X-Forwarding via SSH and Postfix server. netstat still lists IPv6 entries 2. /etc/default/grub (GRUB tells the kernel not to load IPv6) This does not exist in armbian, I guess it is simply not using GRUB …

I have a Banana PI M2 Zero that I am using to run a 3D printer. Unfortunately the USB port puts out 5V, which I need to disable. Is there any way to do this by editing a file or using a script? There are cases where it might be useful but I'd rather have it off permanently if thats the only choice.

Hey folks, The tl;dr version of my question is "is there a way to stop tmpfs from being used for things like /tmp, /run, etc.?" Essentially I have an OPi Zero running PiAware and graphs1090. Graphs1090 is throwing a bunch of images into a folder under /run, which is causing the amount of free space to drop below 16M. As a result, systemctl refuses to restart some services because there isn't enough free space on /run. So...is there a way to disable the use of tmpfs for folders like /run or /tmp? Honestly, I'd rather just take the hit to the SD card rather have to deal with issues like this.

Hi, I need wifi working on an A20 board. Managed to compile the driver and change coherent_pool value to 2M and made everything work when booting from the SD card. After that I made a nand install using the nand_sata_install.sh script with minor modifications (partition+sizes). The system boots and everything is working right except the modprobe -v st7601Usta fails with exec format error. Dmesg says: st7601Usta: disagrees about version of symbol module_layout Recompiling the driver and reinstalling it does nothing. As I understand the nand_sata_install script uses the same linux image only converted from zImage to uImage. Shouldn't the…

How to compile DKMS on the board? I am trying this for the past week without success and starting to go crazy... The last kernel which worked is 6.11.2. I tried with zfs-dkms (from apt's repositories and from manually build .deb from zfs git) and with aic8800 drivers. I've tried Bookworm image, tried Noble. Tried -current and -edge kernels. Tried many kernel revisions. Tried to build kernels (image & headers) with compile.sh with docker, without docker. Updated my x86 Debian to Trixie. After my last update on my radxa5-ITX, apart from the name changes of the NIC (related?), I remarked that I could not cryptroot-unlock the root partition because of dm_mod apparently missing from initramfs. To give some context, this is how I set things up some while ago and things went pretty smooth until recently. Too bad armbian does not keep the previous kernel (though I get the reason why). Inspecting the boot partition, cat config-6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx | grep DM_CRYPT CONFIG_DM_CRYPT=m the kernel seems to have been compiled with the proper option and lsinitramfs initrd.img-6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx | grep 'usr.*cryptsetup' usr/lib/aarch64-l…

Hi, I updated from legacy kernel to mainline and then from jessie to stretch. Armbianmonitor -u output is further below. Setup: I have a small home network with several SBCs, PCs, NASs and two devices are running Armbian ARMBIAN 5.59, ARMBIAN 5.59 stable Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 4.14.65-sunxi for the Orange Pi Zero and ARMBIAN 5.59 testing Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 4.14.65-sunxi for the Cubieboard 1. Hello all, I'm using Armbian 5.73 stable (Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS) for a year or so on an OrangePi Zero. That little box is working as a backup box and network-wise DNS server via DNSMasq (ver. 2.75-1ubuntu0.16.04.5). The OS and general system is working very stable, but I'm having issues with DNSMasq. It's solving both local systems' names via /etc/hosts and internet hostnames for the whole network. Sometimes, DNSMasq stops solving external addresses. There'll be no error and warning messages anywhere, and when pinged with kill -USR1 signal, it happily prints the current stats. I'm running with a cache size of 6148, and I see no cache overflows in the…

I am trying to migrate the two RockPro64 NAS's i have running the last Ayufan Community buster 9.14 minimum build from 2019 to a currently supported and maintained Armbian build. Hi, I am trying to get an armhf mainline image for rk3399 and another one for other amlogic socs (s9xx) to test panfrost and lima properly. An Orange Pi R1+ LTS is on its way to me to replace the Orange Pi R1 that currently serves as my firewall (my fibre speed has increased and 100Mbps PHYs are too slow) The board is similar to the Orange Pi R1+ except that a NIC has a different chipset. Orange Pi R1+ LTS uses Rockchip rk3328 and has 1GB DDR3 memory and two 1 Gbps NICs. Compared to the Orange Pi R1+, the Realtek RTL8211E PHY has been replaced with a YT8531C PHY. The memory is also DDR3 vs DDR4. Armbian has WIP images for the Orange Pi R1+, but not the Orange Pi R1+ LTS. I guess that this could be a good starting point if I can figure out how to change the PHY.

Not posting everything I've tried, just wanted to ask a question of people experienced with the H3. Does it really support slave I2S in the mainline kernel? I've seen it posted in multiple forums that it does, and the datasheet and user manual says it does, but I can not get it working. Has anyone seen this work in person? I had to hack up the sun4i-i2s.c driver around mclk / bclk generation to make it happy just to even try it, and confirmed that all register settings look good. But the DMA just doesn't seem to transfer data when in clock slave mode. It doesn't seem like any cpu using sun4i-i2s should work in clock slave mode.

Hey everyone, I'm eyeing the Orange Pi 6 Plus for some edge AI projects, given its 12-core CIX SoC, up to 28.8 TOPS NPU, and massive RAM options (16/32/64GB LPDDR5). Has anyone gotten Ollama running on it with NPU acceleration? Does it support it out of the box, or do you need to convert models (e.g., to INT4/INT8 formats) using custom tools like rkllama or similar? Additionally, with the higher RAM, can it handle bigger LLMs (like 13B+ models) more smoothly than lower-spec SBCs? Any benchmarks or tips on setups (e.g., Ubuntu/Debian installs, frameworks like MLC-LLM)? I'd love to hear real-world experiences—thanks!

By editing /etc/shadow, root:$6$6fRIGsIb$dt.U84pEFgqpCSmlU9Nn2SLxBK8mYxxZMethrY35kqPg09aS/8e5xQ08excoGzdta6E5XmF2iFQC5J4EJVuM31:17401:0:99999:7::: daemon:*:17326:0:99999:7::: bin:*:17326:0:99999:7::: sys:*:17326:0:99999:7::: sync:*:17326:0:99999:7::: games:*:17326:0:99999:7::: man:*:17326:0:99999:7::: lp:*:17326:0:99999:7::: mail:*:17326:0:99999:7::: news:*:17326:0:9…

I am using the Rockpi 4c plus for the first time. I was trying to help a student download new C4 images and he gets 'Download Error.' Confirmed at my place - Twice I got 'Unable to download file securely' message but mostly 'Download Failed' on direct download. Didn't try all boards but several have same issue. Chrome on Linux x86 (Mint) and XU4 armbian. HTTP vs HTTPS on direct download? Didn't try the torrent downloads. Torrents work fine. Sorry if I put this in the wrong forum :] Edit: if I hit 'Keep' it still shows download error.

Hello, I'm trying to install Armbian on my OrangePiZero but i have networks issues. After 3/4 hours of tests and search i found on a forum that the problem came from the kernel version. And the person said it works with: "Armbian_5.30_Orangepizero_Debian_jessie" Where can i download this rom please ? The problem: When i start my OrangePiZero i don't have ip (i use USB/TTL to access to command line). I tried to set static ip, dhcp, i tried to remove networkmanager, to use dhcpcd instead of dhclient, etc... I also tried wifi, but same... Thanks !

Download section for Orange PI One Plus ( https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-one-plus/ ) appears to be malformed / cut-off somehow at second image (Jammy XFCE) where content ends after "h" from "SHA hash ..." line. I checked out download sections for few other boards of interest to me and they all appear to be fine 🤔

Hello, since my good friend and favorite tinkerer Olgierd wanted to run this http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-44-Red-Serial-128X128-SPI-Color-TFT-LCD-Module-Display-Replace-Nokia-5110-LCD-/262136737086?hash=item3d08912d3e%3Ag%3AwyQAAOSwoydWoYhX on his OPi, but the drivers aren't in the 3.4 kernel I did that https://github.com/SvenKayser/Sambooca-Kernel-H3/commit/3511b0d142f4632f77cd1d82bae08bc584f54805.patch It isn't art, but it's working (or so he said). Alright, there seems to be a timing issue when loading the module for the first time.... Feel free to use it to your repo if you feel like using it. Regards Sven

Good morning, I have made a board where I have put an RTC DS1307 to a Neo core nanopi. From what I have been able to see, the system loads some kind of RTC module called sun6i-rtc. this module "occupies" the / dev / rtc0 so when loading the DS1307 it assigns it / dev / rtc1. Can the sun6i-rtc be disabled in some way? On the other hand, if I do this command. hwclock -w -f /dev/rtc1 --verbose hwclock from util-linux 2.37.154-c2ca2 System Time: 1625751906.401974 Using the rtc interface to the clock. Hello, I'm trying to get a new board working using Armbian. I'm currently working from my GIT repo so I cloned armbian/build and u-boot/u-boot I added them to the compile.sh script by using userpatches/lib.conf overrides. I added the DTS file of the board, defconfig and modified the Makefile as it can be seen on this commit On the board config side, I set: BOOTCONFIG="fly_gemini_defconfig" The image is built successfully but the board doesn't boot because the DTB file isn't present in /boot/dtb/allwinner/sun50i-h5-fly-gemini.dtb I looked in output/debug files but I didn't found any error What did I miss ? …

Hello! I was very happy, when the first OrangePI came out and had HDMI and VGA output. With this device it was possible to use the board with two monitors (mirror desktop and expand desktop) I use this board as thin-client in our office - connecting to windows server via rdesktop. Another way we use the boared is working with one monitor via rdesktop and running with the other Monitor or TV-Set a webpage witch is displaying infos. It is running perfect and we can save money because there is very low energy consumation and the OPIs are cheap. I think this kind of using the OPI wourd have good future. Now this board is no more availabe. I am not a tec…

Hi, I'm using an Odroid C2 with 8 DVB-C/T (6x TechnoTrend TT-TVStick CT2-4400 and 2xTECHNOTREND TT-connect CT2-4650). Those DVB-C are connected via 2x 4 ports USB 3.0 which are connected in USB C2 ports. The problem is that if I'm using 4 or maximum 5 DVB-C, Odroid C2 has a CPU usage about 30-40% from 400%, so pretty low usage. Now the issues are starting: if I'm trying to start another DVB-C or if I'm doing for example something which uses high CPU suddenly Odroid C2 is rebooting. This is the first thing. The second thing is that the DVB_SKY_2 seems to crash when the mumudvb is starting on a DVB device. The third issue is that I can't change …

Using my Orange Pi Zero 512 H2 I want wo build a POE-powered display, displaying the current time, time until the bus leaves and ideally some information on bus schedules I can pull from the API of the local bus network. What I currently have is an Orange Pi Zero 512 H2 and a POE injector where I can insert any voltage as it does not run with standard POE voltage. My plan is to buy this e-paper display https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/7.5inch_e-Paper_HAT_(B) and have the Orange Pi display a simple HTML page. So my first question is: Would this display run, would it be a good choice for my setup? Are there any similar projects (yes, I searched) that…

I've been messing with my OPi5+ for several days now and I cannot for the life of me get my USB Wifi dongle to work. When I input " lsusb " the OPi shows my dongle as plugged in but it just doesn't work. I've tried to compile the Wifi dongle drivers (RTL8188eu) manually but that fails with a "python2 error". I've tried updating the Armbian headers and firmware and nothing works. I've tried both the OPi OS and Armbian OS and on both images the board will just not read my Wifi dongle. My USB Bluetooth dongle Plugs and Plays just fine, only the Wifi dongle is inoperable. So my question is how in the hell do I get the Edimax N150 USB Wifi dongle to work…

I have just downloaded desktop Armbian 22.08 Jammy XFCE on my Odroid-C2 and it works fine on a 1080p monitor. I need it to work on a different monitor though so I have added the following lines to /boot/armbianEnv.txt display_autodetect=false hdmimode=1680x1050p60hz and added hdmitx=forcergb in the bootargs (which I copy/pasted from /boot/boot.cmd) but it has no effect. Hello everyone, First timer here. I enabled the wlan0 interface on my Orange Pi zero 2w and am able to connect to the internet. However, I am not able to connect to it via SSH or even ping it, (cannot resolve host). I'm using the minimal image available here: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-2w/ I followed the docs to configure wifi as pointed out here: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Networking/#connecting-to-wifi-network Currently I'm stuck on how to debug it further. I tried to ping other devices from within the orange pi and it works without any issues. Any advice is very much appreciated

Hello, I'm pretty new to Armbian world and still trying to learn how everything works. I have got this Asus Tinker Board R2.0 that I'm trying to use with an Armbian image. However, before flashing the Armbian image to SD and boot from it, is there any way I could emulate the system on my PC, boot from a fresh Armbian ROM, change my preferred settings and install the applications I want, and then transfer the whole "personalised" ROM to an SD and boot from it on my actual Tinker Board. If I need to "initialise" the fresh Armbian ROM on the actual Tinker Board, can I then use the SD card (or an img created from it with Win…
