I used armbian-config to install remote desktop service on an Odroid C2. Works great. When I add a user via command line (adduser), when they log in they get messages for authentication for network services. I also note it doesn't show the XFCE splash screens like the original user does. It can't browse anything on the wifi network but it can get through on the ethernet network. I assume I haven't added the user to the proper groups - can someone tell me what groups, or if I'm barking up the wrong tree?

  2. Hi, It is very hard to start OS (community version, downloaded from here). The system doesn't start at all, if the keyboard is already attached. I've discovered some magic moment during the startup process, when I can attach keyboard and system goes further. In most of moments the boot process stops, as soon as I'm attaching the keyboard. Lines are scrolled too fast to let me note what moment is "successful". Also I've noticed that the chip is very hot, when the keyboard is attached. It's much colder when keyboard is detached. Another small issue is that functional keys don't work. Though Ctrl/Alt and other similar keys do. …

Hi Friends, I am trying to check mDNS and xmDNS services in our companies product. As part of that i am discovering the services of xmDNS using Avahi-discover. If i am announcing the service with domain ".local" (Link-local Multicast ) Avahi-discover is able to discover and querying the services. But if i am try to announce the service with domain ".site" (Site local multicast). Avahi-discover is not able to discover the services and not querying the services. Can somebody give me some advice to solve this problem. Many thanks.

Hello, I'm attempting to port an unknown rk3399 board to Linux from Android with kernerl 4.4. I managed to extract the devicetree and it's slowly coming along with poking arround and mixing and matching and comparing devicetrees (it's not easy but I got time ;-) ) The board uses a tc358775 converter for the lvds display since the rk3399 doesn't have one built in. With patch from here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16747-orange-pi-4-kernel-510y-mipi-dsi-panel-sucessful/ it started to show some signs of life. The screen is lighting up seems to have activities but it's just showing bars. I'm not sure if it's a timing issues, but I used…

Good day! I found some oddities with UART port driver. If I change the speed or the number of bits in the transmission, then everything works fine. But if I try to set the parity it does not sets. Not work modes: "EVEN, SPACE, MARK". Normal works only "NONE". Anyone faced similar problem? Tested under minicom and Java prorgam. The same result. p.s. I mean this modes sets only logical and does not sets physical. The device on other end always reports parity errors.

  7. Hello! I met next problem: I need configure UART communication with baud rate 1 Mb/s (or 2 or 3). But internal clock of the bus is 1.5 MHz, and if i try to communicate with 1 Mb/s, error is too big. Is it possible somehow change internal clock of the uart? Or maybe any other possibilities how to configure such communication ? Or maybe you know any models with higher internal clock of the bus (Like on 6.5 MHz on raspberry pi 4, for example) ? Now one section is equal to 1.333 microseconds, but it should be 1.0 mcs. I found same topic at this forum, but it's no solution there: Thank you and have a good day

The display uses ST7789 driver and it will be used in combination with thermal camera. I've tried to use producers library for RPi https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/1.54inch_LCD_Module but the screen only blinks when i run a program with test bitmap. I tested it on Arduino and the display works fine. If someone was able to run such a display, can you share your library? Thanks for all the help

Does anybody know if it would work correctly doing that on a multi boot PC? I know I would need to update Grub afterwards for it to show in the list.

I have a raspi hat (rak2245) that has 2 versions: a pi-hat version that has a 40 pin-header on it for raspberry pi's , but also a smaller stamp edition. It uses spi and uart to communicate with the pi. I have it running without issues on my orange pi zero, even though the pinheader is a little too large. And via a breadboard I can access all pins just fine. But since I am making my own PCB anyway, I am interested in using the stamp version. The only difference between the stamp and the pi-hat version (aside from the form-factor and pin-out) is that the pi-hat version has an additional eeprom chip to tell the rapsberry pi about the function of the pins apparently. Now…

Ultimate goal is to be able to run MachineKit on one of these (headless on Neo). MachineKit requires a real-time kernel with RT_PREEMPT being the preferred choice it seems. I tried patching the Armbian Kernel and not unexpectedly I got a number of conflicts with previous patches and some rejects. I am looking for some guidance here as to the best way t…

In Armbian, it seems booting uses the boot.cmd script to boot the kernel. Is there a simple example of the boot script with a m…

Hi Igor and everyone else. Id'like to suggest the following: /etc/fstab It´s not necesary to use both noatime and nodiratime, because noatime already implies nodiratime, so you can use only the option "noatime" instead of both. When creating the ext4 filesystem with mkfs.ext4 you can type a label for it with the parameter " -L " so when the users mount their cards on a computer, the desktop will show some name instead "NO NAME". For example: # mkfs.ext4 -O ^has_journal -L Armbian /dev/mmcblk0p1 or... # mkfs.ext4 -O ^has_journal -L Cubox-i /dev/mmcblk0p1 Cheers - Klez

This version includes Python bindings, so I'm no longer generating CFFI bindings for this library. I've converted all the example code to use the new bindings. User Space IO is Python 3 and Java 8 bindings for Linux user space GPIO, SPI, I2C, PWM and Serial interfaces. User Space IO is a consistent API for C, Python 3 and most JVM languages. No more hacked up RPi.GPIO and WiringPi for each SBC model.

  74. If you've tried hardware video on an Allwinner A733 (Orange Pi 4 Pro, Radxa A7Z), you've probably hit this: there's no V4L2 decoder, and omxh264dec advertises video/x-raw(memory:DMABuf) but aborts in gst_omx_video_dec_negotiate if you actually ask for it. So everyone falls back to videoconvert ! ximagesink and burns ~1.8 CPU cores on 1080p. The vendor OMX component reports the proprietary colour format 0x7f000002 through a malformed port-format enumeration, so gst-omx can't build a negotiation map. You can chase that a long way. Don't. libOmxVdec.so is a wrapper over libvdecoder.so, and that lower library is what actually owns the decode surfaces. VideoPicture.n…

I have one of these M2 drives in my laptop, and I learned the hard way how slow it will get within 1 year's use, like 30MB/sec read, 8.5 MB/sec write! Then you'll need to use the closed-source firmware-upgrading CLI utility that Micron publishes. There is a version for linux, but it's AMD64 only. I would like for a easy install and setup or just easiest as everything I do seems to take x4 the time of what others do 😅 Hardware & OS OS: Armbian (23.02.2) armv7l Host: Rockchip RK3288 Asus Tinker Board Kernel: 6.1.11-rockchip Packages: 1618 (dpkg), 8 (snap) Shell: bash 5.1.16 Resolution: 1920x1080 CPU: Rockchip (Device Tree) (4) @ 1.800GHz Memory: 575MiB / 2004MiB Logitech c922 pro …

  92. Tested with speakers and headphones, now working right channel in 3.5 mm. Speakers and headphones works correctly with another devics. Tested on official builds(firstly), pulseaudio, pipewire+wireplumber, also tested self-builded via official building script with same drivers. Speaker-test detects only front left channel. What it may be? How I can fix that? Thanks in advance.

I need to introduce a boot delay on my OrangePiPc to allow time for other network elements in my setup to boot, otherwise it will not get an IP address after recovering from a power interruption (common where I am). In Raspbian, this can done by adding a 'boot_delay=n' line in /boot/config.txt, however I don't see this file in Armbian. How can this be accomplished on Armbian 5.20?

I've installed the latest available version for my board (Armbian_21.05.4_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.222) and upgrade the Kernel to 5.4.125 Now, I'm wondering If the watchdog was supposed to work (I do have /dev/watchdog and installed the watchdog package with apt). But it seems there is a problem, here is what I tried: odroidxu4:~:# service watchdog status ● watchdog.service - watchdog daemon Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/watchdog.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: active (running) since Mon 2021-08-23 17:07:20 CEST; 1h 5min ago Process: 2295 ExecStartPre=/bin/sh -c [ -z "${watchdog_module}" ] || [ "${wat…

Well well well, I have been setting up my BananaPro and all that is missing for me is to have it ready to run a QT Application that I'm building. For that I have followed all the package helps and such to have the Bpro ready to run them. Problem is that when I run the infamous test /test inside ./sunxi-mali I get the error: ERROR: eglInitialize failed! Looking at it I've concluded that there is a problem with gcc, but more specifically the fbturbo hasn't even been built properly. When I look at the config file within fbturbo after running ./configure i get this: confidure:3357: gcc -qversion >&5 gcc: error: unrecognized command line option '-V'…

Is there any support for Rock 3 C (RK3566)? I've tried booting from the Rock 3 A image, but no joy. It looks like the Rock 3A was RK3568 so I wonder if using another device tree overlay for RK3566 might otherwise work?

  99. I am using the rockpi-s board(with rockchip rk3308 soc), and want to change the console serial of the uboot. According to https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_User-Configurations/#user-provided-patches, I tried: rm userpatches/u-boot/u-boot-rockchip64-v2022.04/u-boot-rockchip64-edge.patch ./compile.sh uboot-patch BOARD=rockpi-s BRANCH=edge RELEASE=bullseye BUILD_MINIMAL=yes BUILD_DESKTOP=no KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no COMPRESS_OUTPUTIMAGE=sha,img EXTRAWIFI=n After I modified what I want in the uboot source code, I continue to copy the path to the userpatches path: cp output/patch/u-boot-rockchip64-edge.patch userpatches/u-boot/u-boot-rockchip64-v2022.04/ And …

  100. Hi everybody, I’m trying to find how to view image by selecting it by reference (image name or its sequence in folder). Ex: assume that I have 3 images 1.jpg, 2.jpg and 3.jpg in folder /home/user/ABC then when run feh and if I tape 1 in keyboard the 1.jpg will be showed and if I tape 3 then will be 3.jpg and so on until I hit ESC key. Or by sequence order: doesn’t matter the name or number of images, if I tape 1 key the first image on the folder will be shown and key 3 for 3th image..... I have I tried feh with --action but no success. ($ feh –y –F --action 1 1.jpg --action2 2.jpg ) but not what I need. Is there a way to send the key value t…
