Hello, since my good friend and favorite tinkerer Olgierd wanted to run this http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-44-Red-Serial-128X128-SPI-Color-TFT-LCD-Module-Display-Replace-Nokia-5110-LCD-/262136737086?hash=item3d08912d3e%3Ag%3AwyQAAOSwoydWoYhX on his OPi, but the drivers aren't in the 3.4 kernel I did that https://github.com/SvenKayser/Sambooca-Kernel-H3/commit/3511b0d142f4632f77cd1d82bae08bc584f54805.patch It isn't art, but it's working (or so he said). Alright, there seems to be a timing issue when loading the module for the first time.... Feel free to use it to your repo if you feel like using it. Regards Sven

I have a Odroid XU4 board that I am trying to build an image for and it will not boot from any images I have built from the compile.sh pulled from github. The board u-boot led doesn't turn on (solid blue) and nothing is displayed from the hdmi port. I select SD card image and have tried writing it with Win32 imager, Etcher, and the dd command. I did get an Ubuntu image downloaded from Odroid to work so the board is not faulty. Nothing has worked and I'm at a loss as to why when I personally compile an image it does not work. Thanks for the help

Which is the hardware platform with the most rock-solid hardware for operating Debian with some domotics service running headless 24/7 ? I have no speclia requirements: dual-core & 1GiB RAM, USB and 10/100 Ethernet are ok. Support for main-line kernel easily upgradeble by apt-get is a plus! Any suggestion ? Thanks

Well well well, I have been setting up my BananaPro and all that is missing for me is to have it ready to run a QT Application that I'm building. For that I have followed all the package helps and such to have the Bpro ready to run them. Problem is that when I run the infamous test /test inside ./sunxi-mali I get the error: ERROR: eglInitialize failed! Looking at it I've concluded that there is a problem with gcc, but more specifically the fbturbo hasn't even been built properly. When I look at the config file within fbturbo after running ./configure i get this: confidure:3357: gcc -qversion >&5 gcc: error: unrecognized command line option '-V'…

Hi, I want to use the latest version of mpg123. The version in the repository is 1.20.1-2. I have compiled the latest version myself (1.23.8) , but I am curious as to the timing and process of when packages get updated. Thanks for your input. V.

Hello, I am trying to compile some firmware to recognize a DVB-T USB device. The compilation process raises an error as following: I was trying to to build kernel headers again: $ cd /usr/src/linux-headers-3.4.112-sun8i $ make headers_check $ make headers_install $ make scripts And then I run this command in the source directory: $ make ARCH=arm KSRC=/usr/src/linux-headers-3.4.112-sun8i this is the output: This is the same error from the compilation process. How can I solve this problem? Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, I'am the new one. I'am German and bought last month an OrangePi PC+ from AliExpress without a clue what todo with it, but it was cheap ;-) And it was perfect for my new OMV. Just installing OMV on top of Armbian / Jessie was not enough because of missing Quota Kernel Options. When setting up a development Enviroment, I found the excellent Build-Scripts of Armbian and thought, why not making an OMV-Image with the customize-image.sh. And here is it (quick and dirty v0.1) Just copy it with a modified kernel.config under userpatches. It should work with every supported Armbian Board as long as its working with Debian Jessie, because it installes OMV3.X I com…

Hello, I attempted to port the dirty COW fix (https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=19be0eaffa3ac7d8eb6784ad9bdbc7d67ed8e619) for 3.4.112, and came up with this: https://github.com/SvenKayser/Sambooca-Kernel-H3/commit/543472582a6adcef12fae4ad11da72a62f29fb74.patch Apparently it solves the issue, but to be sure maybe some of you guys can give it a test. If it checks out please do commit it in the right places for Armbian - which I wouldn't know (Armbian has so many kernel patch folders, I don't wanna mess things up) Regards Sven

Hi All, Does anybody have a solution to the issue with playing video in Armbian that the MPV on-screen controls (i.e. Pause, Stop and the Timeline) isn't visible in the bottom middle of the video frame? Is there any way to get this back? Does it require a re-compile of mpv, or is this behaviour a result of the All winner undocumented blob based hardware acceleration, dumping pixels straight onto the frame buffer, with little one can do about it. Has anybody compiled mpv from scratch and not had this issue? I notice that when playing video, the video paints over the top of everything - including the mouse pointer. Photo attached with red boxes to highlight…

I need to introduce a boot delay on my OrangePiPc to allow time for other network elements in my setup to boot, otherwise it will not get an IP address after recovering from a power interruption (common where I am). In Raspbian, this can done by adding a 'boot_delay=n' line in /boot/config.txt, however I don't see this file in Armbian. How can this be accomplished on Armbian 5.20?

First of All... Great job on this Distro very much appreciated. Thanks. I have a goal of running a real-time kernel on a H3 (NanoPi Neo preferably and or M1). Ultimate goal is to be able to run MachineKit on one of these (headless on Neo). MachineKit requires a real-time kernel with RT_PREEMPT being the preferred choice it seems. There are patches available for the kernel for 4.6 and 4.8. so we look to tracking close to the mainline with 4.7.6 considering 4.8 released on Oct 2nd. I tried patching the Armbian Kernel and not unexpectedly I got a number of conflicts with previous patches and some rejects. I am looking for some guidance here as to the best way t…

Good day! I found some oddities with UART port driver. If I change the speed or the number of bits in the transmission, then everything works fine. But if I try to set the parity it does not sets. Not work modes: "EVEN, SPACE, MARK". Normal works only "NONE". Anyone faced similar problem? Tested under minicom and Java prorgam. The same result. p.s. I mean this modes sets only logical and does not sets physical. The device on other end always reports parity errors.

Hi, Got a bit of a strange situation here. Trying to get H3 I2S working in both playback and capture. Tweaked script.bin and got the I2S0 up and running. Playback in 96K and 192K tested and is ok. Capture though is giving me a headache. When I try to use arecord it does work and generates a wav file but upon playing the file with aplay and although the samplerate (96K or 192K) and channel numbers (Stereo) show ok on screen, the audio result from this recording is always mono and looks that the included samples numer is divided by 2 thus the playback time is shortened accordingly, eg if I record 10 sec, a 5 sec playing time happens. Verified the…

Hello. I want to use btrfs as my rootfs (Armbian Ubuntu xenial 5.14 on M2) so I can use snapshots to roll back, freeze for backups, and to help manage changes. Btrfs is also good for error checking and can provide cheap easy data redundancy. How does booting work on my BPI M2? How can I change the target root partition? What has to be on /boot (ext4) and what can be on / (btrfs)? Along the same lines, is it possible to boot off of a USB device either directly or indirectly (Small SD with bootloader and /boot→ USB large root device)? Is there some documentation or good keywords to learn about how booting works in the ARM world?

I've got a quick question about the Armbian Ubuntu Xenial install. I want to make sure I'm not in the wrong here before looking around for where to submit a bug report. It seems that at least on the C2s, & NanoPI Neos that I have that the /etc/resolv.conf file is not a link to /run/resolvconf/resolv.conf. That doesn't seem right to me, is there a reason it's a regular file and not a link? It messes things up when moving the computer to different networks as it doesn't update with new DNS settings. Possibly more glaringly it could be a security issue for those unaware or not paying attention while using things like openvpn.

Hey the first time i tried armbian on tronsmart android box with sdcard , it was so seamless and so awesome. I am wondering if anyone has tried armbian on any android tablet. And it would be nice to support any of these tablets out there. In that way you don't have to worry about separate hdmi tv or monitor and accessories to use armbian. I always believe that arm's edge is in mobility, sleek and being minimal .

R40 is a new SoC from Allwinner known as 'quad-core A20 successor' (link to datasheet). It shares most hardware details with A20 (true SATA, GbE -- EMAC and GMAC listed separately -- 2 USB2.0 host ports, one USB OTG, and fortunately also PMIC/battery support (link to AXP221s datasheet). Unfortunately Allwinner chose a manufacturing partner known for never providing exact specs/info to produce the first R40 device available. So we won't get any info about performance and working hardware features unless we buy this device on our own and test. I just had a quick look into one already released OS image 'funnily' based on one of our Armbian OS images for a H3 board: …

Hello, My sunxi_tp_temp always reports the same value (429496576.0). After digging around, it seems like it's not reading the correct registers. Hi. I am just wondering what the fastest time people have getting from plug in power to command prompt on something like the NanoPi M1 or Neo. I use one of mine as an command line mp3 player (mpg123) and pretty much that;s all it does apart form some gpio buttons. It does not use network. Are there any tips on speeding up boot so playback can commence faster? I have never build a version of Armbian, but I am willing to give it a try - would a custom version be much faster? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Are there any other images floating around that could demo a faster speed? J.

Could someone remind me of the status of the H3 crypto engine, both hardware (capabilities, aes-ni ?) and software (mainline or vanilla kernels) ? I've been testing openvpn on an amlogic s905 box (still need to fix my beelink x2 problems) and as expected i'm hitting a cpu bottleneck. i've been able to achieve around 60Mbps (Blowfish-cbc, usb hdd, ext4) but openvpn being single threaded the cpu load maxes out thus limiting openvpn's bandwidth. Unfortunately as with most vpn providers you can't tweak all parameters and so, changing the tun-mtu size is not possible and has to stay at the default 1500 value. I will perform some tests on my beelink x2 or opi pc…

All of the docs that I see on how to use the kernel gpio_keys refers to dts (device tree). The kernel module is present in Armbian legacy 5.20 Jessie Desktop. /lib/modules/3.4.112...../gpio_keys.ko I understand it should map gpio inputs to keystrokes. But all usage/configuration info I can find refers to entries made in Device Tree -- gpio-keys { compatible = "gpio-keys"; left-key { label = "Left key"; gpios = <&gpio0 17 0>; linux, code = <69>; /* KEY_LEFT */ }; } This refers to some other underlying hardware, but it is an example... So my question... I don't believe Armbian legacy…

No need to really discuss this hardware @Igor: As soon as the first user confirms Armbian works you could add IMO a download page similar to the one for Orange Pi+ 2 )

I wonder if any work is being done in that direction. Every browser i tried has some sort of issues, that makes it less than usable on H3 devices. -epiphany/midori: both work decently, but lock up after some time with 25% cpu usage (could be a webkit1 issue ?) -chromium: slow and apparently absent from repos -firefox: works ok, but quite slow -net surf: very fast and stable, but not up to date for web standards (probably what makes it fast in the first place) Am i missing any browsers here ? I propose we optimize one of those, that would work best on out allwinner devices in a similar fashion of what raspberry team did with epiphany. I'm sure lots of folks…

Hi, I'm having a problem with some timezones and I couldn't find anything in the web related with it. This is in a NanoiPi M1 with ARMBIAN on it. The problem is that when I run the following commands the result is not the as expected: echo "America/Indianapolis" > /etc/timezone && dpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive tzdata and then result is: Current default time zone: 'America/Adak' Local time is now: Thu Sep 8 03:08:41 HDT 2016. Universal Time is now: Thu Sep 8 12:08:41 UTC 2016. but if I run: echo "America/Indiana/Indianapolis" > /etc/timezone && dpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive tzdata the result is as expected: Current default…

So I'm trying to modify a certain Mycroft skill (python) to be able to play local news. Here is the commit: https://github.com/marksev1/mycroft-core/commit/164c7207374131ece23a8ddf40c7a7981f3c7084 And this python script uses mpg123 to play the mp3 from the url. 1.) If I play the mp3 in the url from the terminal normally it plays every time. 2.) If I'd try to play it from that python script it only randomly plays and in the meantime i get errors regarding jack. See here, first time it succeeded then it failed multiple times: 2016-09-05 14:11:02,437 - Skills - DEBUG - {"message_type": "speak", "context": null, "metadata": {"utterance": "Here is the top of the…

Hi, I would like to get a Debian Jessie version without systemd. I already tried to reconfigure an armbian image to remove systemd (There are several topics about this like this one or this discussion). This worked for me except for one important thing: initramfs. When I tried to configure and run my system using initramfs, I get always an error and system stop booting. I would like to know if it is possible to configure the build-tool (compile.sh) to directly create a Jessie image without systemd and with sysvinit. Something like this (as described here): preseed/late_command="in-target apt-get install -y sysvinit-core" Is it possible and what part …

We provided this week experimental Armbian images with mainline kernel for a few H3 boards. On the official download pages there are a few variants with 4.6.7 lurking around and here you find some with 4.7.2: http://kaiser-edv.de/tmp/w8JAAY/ Those for the NEO are also suitable for NanoPi M1 and OPi One/Lite, the one for OPi PC Plus can be used on any of the larger Oranges (no Ethernet on +/+2/+2E -- don't ask please, this is stuff for later) since they all use the same more sophisticated voltage regulator being able to adjust VDD_CPUX in 20mW steps (VDD_CPUX is the voltage the CPU cores are fed with). The procedure is called dynamic voltage frequency scaling and the id…

Hello, I run my program system as a service in console mode, so no login is needed. The Linux system starts up almost quietly after changes in boot.scr. The only "small" thing that needs a solution is the login prompt. How can I prevent login prompt from appearing? I've tried some autologin options I found for different Linux systems, but they didn't work for me. Any suggestion?

Hi Can any one tell me how to access the GPIO from user space, I have tried this: sudo echo 203 > /sys/class/gpio/export But get this result -bash: /sys/class/gpio/export: Permission denied It's of course some thing really simple, but I haven't been able to find any thing which can lead in the right direction. I have tried adding user account to the /etc/sudoers By inserting this: # See sudoers(5) for more information on "#include" directives: #includedir /etc/sudoers.d mabzy ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL

In my spi protocol driver I send large buffers of data to be transferred. I am not interested in the data received so I leave the rx_buf as NULL. In the controller driver they have code to implement this use case: https://github.com/allwinner-zh/linux-3.4-sunxi/blob/6964d467510849e3e262518cb87bff7ef92e01f5/drivers/spi/spi-sunxi.c#L1003 However the transfer never completes and the kernel logs a time out for each transfer after 120 seconds. I have tried modifying the driver with various options like disabling the SPI_GC_TP_EN, which pauses transmit when the receive fifo is full, but it has no effect. Finally after hours of futile tinkering I decided to change m…

Ok, so I am bit of a linux noob. I understand the basics, and compiled my first image from source today, and hey it works! What I am trying to do is, build a image that has the packages that I need preinstalled. Packages that I need are(nfs-kernel-server, samba, speedtest-cli, openvpn, and a few other) I tend to muck up my installation quite frequently, as I play around with settings too much. What I had been doing is cloning the sd card with dd, but I am looking for a better more reliable way, that gives a fresh install each time. I didn't know whether I could edit the list of packages that are installed while compiling the image from source. Also, Tha…

Hi, I am not sure but it maybe a bug in the script. After starting device from SD card (it is visible as /dev/mmcblk0 device) I have /etc/fstab as following: root@orangepiplus:/etc# cat fstab /dev/mmcblk0p1 / ext4 defaults,noatime,nodiratime,commit=600,errors=remount-ro 0 1 tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults, nosuid 0 0 /var/swap none swap sw 0 0 Then I run nand-sata-install script. It is working correctly, but later on it is modifying copied fstab file and content is as following (pls pay attention on /dev/mmcblk1p1): root@orangepiplus:/mnt/rootfs/etc# cat fstab /dev/mmcblk1p1 / ext4 defaults,noatime,nodiratime,commit=600,errors=remount-ro 0 1 tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults, nosuid…

Hi Folks, In my continuing adventures in Armbian (coming from RHEL/Fedora professionally), I've discovered that Jessie uses very old packages for various things I'd like to use to get closer to a Fedora-like experience. For example, I'd really like to use https://packages.debian.org/testing/net/firewalld. Any advice you could give on how to use some testing packages on Armbian? I thought ensuring 'backports' was listed in my /etc/apt/sources.list file would do it but alas no dice. I've tried the following command based upon this Debian wiki page: https://wiki.debian.org/Backports#Installing_backports_on_the_command_line # aptitude -t jessie-backports insta…

Hi, I'm using raspberrypi ili9488 GPIO LCD (Image here) and I was able to make it working with notro's fbtft drivers and it works fine. Turning on a off the +5v and +3.3v did turn the whole lcd of and when I turned it back on it did not work and I had to restart the system. I managed to control the backlight by using a transistor on the lcd board backlight power pin but it was not so practical as it needed a lot of time and what we do is producing more than 1000 product ea…

Hi all, We are now using ARMbian build tools as our 1st choice for all future DietPi SBC images. Currently, we support these devices that use ARMbian at their base: BPI Pro BPI M2+ OPI PC NanoPi Neo I'd like to increase this so we can support more boards with the same ARM SoC (eg: H3). Unfortunately, like most, i do not have access to every SBC out there. As we do further manual optimizations to the ARMbian images, after compile (eg: DietPi-RAMlog, DietPi-RAMdisk, package removals, prep for DietPi scripts etc etc), having the SBC device is essential to creating our image. I'am curious to know if the following is true: Are the Sun8i compiled kernels and mod…

I am using ARMBIAN Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS 4.6.3-cubox on SolidRun HummingBoard-i2eX Dual SoC i.MX6 Dual Single Board Computer. I have an USB 3.0 controller attached to the board (via a PCI slot). As far as I know, xhci_hcd has to be compiled for the controller to function properly. In the default installation, xhci_hcd is disabled ( /boot/config-4.6.3-cubox says: "# CONFIG_USB_XHCI_HCD is not set"). Do I have to setup a complete build environment as descried here http://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ or I can just somehow compile the module on the board itself? Where exactly do I get the sources from? Thanks

I know how to work with GPIO though the /sys interface, but that's not fast enough for my application. Is there a faster interface for working with GPIO on the H3, similar to the fast GPIO on the RPi. I believe fast GPIO on the RPi manipulates GPIO though a memory map interface. Is that possible with the H3. Has anyone done it?

Hi, A few months back I installed version 5.10 on a cubietruck. After setting everything up I configure the system to boot from SD and have the system on SATA. Everything was fine until yesterday. It looks like my SD card is corrupted. I created a new SD card using version 5.14 and booted, after booting I mounted the SATA drive and everything seems fine on the SATA. The question is how can I boot again from SD and use the existing system on my SATA? I don’t want to have to reinstall/configure everything. Thank you Mike

I can not believe it can be complicated... and again I have no idea what to do? Any help.... /R

Just as warning - It seems that Orange Pi devices have quite "easy to burn" hdmi port. This post is quite clear about it: http://www.orangepi.org/orangepibbsen/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1556 And case happened to me - I did it simply by plugging in and out hdmi cable. At some moment "no signal" is coming from HDMI (or maybe I should say "nothing is coming" ). It is on my Orange Pi PC. Now I wait for composite TV/Audio cable (in post I am referring there is information that TV out is still working). Or my device will be changed to "server" only...

Is there a way I give still activate this instruction optimization or should I give up NEON support for the moment ? Thanks !
