I have a Sabrent NT-SS5G Wired 5 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (USB3) and a network that can do 2.5 and 5 Gbe so thought I'd see if it works with Armbian on a Nanopi M4V2. This will cause update-grub to add the following a devicetree line to all menu entries. This example is based on Debian Trixie's grub-efi. This example will expect dtb directories (or links) to be in the /boot directory, using the convention that I've seen Armbian use. Here is an example of a /boot directory listing for (pure) Debian Trixie with two kernels: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 336036 Aug 27 04:10 config-6.12.43+deb13-arm64 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 343394 Sep 6 12:48 config-6.16.3+deb13-arm64 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 42 Sep 20 16:17 dtb -> ../usr/lib/linux-image-6.16.3+deb13-arm64/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 43 Sep 20 16:17 dtb-6.12.43+deb13-…

(disclaimer) No itention to make a Frankendebian (https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian) but ubuntu package "zram-config" works perfectly. I tested it for two weeks in a: Orange PI Zero 512MB Armbian Stretch 5.40 4.14.18, Orange PI PC2 Armbian Stretch 5.40 4.14.18, AMD Sempron microserver Debian Stretch 9.4 4.9.0-6-amd64. A short tutorial: 1. Download zram-config package (it's a universal package, it does not matter the architecture in use) wget http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/z/zram-config/zram-config_0.5_all.deb 2. Install it sudo dpkg -i zram-config_0.5_all.deb 3. Remove the installer …

Is not important, and is a topic related to desktop environment and I know that armbian is more a server OS than a dektop replacement ... but I'm stuck trying to have all the environment in my mother language, Spanish. I change locale in root user and in the additionally created desktop user, I use dpkg-reconfigure locales locales and also export LANGUAGE=es_ES.UTF-8 but after reboot is again in English. And also when I update and upgrade the system I can see Translation-en logs but never a Translation-es. Is there any chance to do a better localization of the Desktop Environment? Thanks.

UPDATE 11-FEB-2017: Version 2.2.0 is released: now including video recording in stead of only images and also a privacy option to black out areas that may not be filmed. UPDATE 09-FEB-2017: Version 2.2.1 is released: memory leak(s) fixed and in some cases video stopped recording. This should be fixed now. Download via this page. Kerberos.io (link) is a relative new video surveillance program focusing mainly on the Raspberry Pi. In collaboration with the owner of the github project I managed to get it working on my Orange Pi Plus and PCDuino3 nano using Armbian (Debian Jessie) and a Logitech UVC compatible USB webcam. It consists of 2 modules: the Machiner…

Hello everyone! Is there anyone who tried to run Docker on armbian? Ok, let's start from the beginning: I am from the Hypriot Team (we made Docker available on ARM) and recently saw some guys successfully playing with Docker on armbian. Meanwhile, we know, that our Docker runs at least on the Cubietrack and Lamobo R1/BananaPi R1 on top of armbian! This is awesome because, you know, IoT is coming, and Docker on ARM helps get a grip on many challenges induced by IoT. However, we were only able to support Docker on Raspberry Pis so far... Imagine if Docker would run on more than just a few ARM boards! Armbian seems an awesome platform to …

The above thing is a $10 accessory that can be ordered together with ROCK64 (and maybe other Pine Inc. devices like Pine64 or Pinebook?). It's an USB-to-SATA bridge (JMicron JMS578 based) to be used together with 2.5" SSD/HDD or 3.5" HDD. For the latter purpose it's equipped with a separate power jack suitable for the usual 12V 5.5/2.1mm power barrels (centre positive) you find PSUs with literally everywhere. TL;DR: If you want to add storage to your ROCK64 order this cable too. It works great with both 2.5" and 3.5" disks and it's somewhat sad it's not available separately since it's a great storage companion for many other devices too. Basics fir…

I need a suggestion for a samba server (guess that is what it is called). I have an 8 TB external powered HD, and need a device that I can attach it to, so I can "see" it on the network. I had it attached to the USB 3 port on my Asus router, but it had issues, because the router did not support the 8 TB HD. I now have it connected to one of my microPCs (Tronsmart Ara X5) USB 3 ports, but I am only gettting a max of 12 MBs speed. I would like an inexpensive board that will support that drive and is easy to set up as a samba server..... thanks.

Here are the instructions to run Htop remotely using a web browser. I often use Htop to monitor the health of my boards and servers (amd64). It is a good tool for the sys admin to monitor the servers in real-time without much resources and it is not very intrusive. Hello, I'm new here and do not quite understand the sub-forums here but hopefully this is the right one. I got an Orange pi ONE running 4.19 RT kernel with Armbian buster. I was testing out the GPIO capabilities of the H3 SoC without any libraries and got only 1.67 Mhz at best(which is ironically the same as WiringPIOP) with some task interrupt issues. #define INP_GPIO(g) *(unsigned int *)(gpio+0x04) &= ~(7 << (((g) % 10) * 3)) //I did not thoroughly check if the mapping is okay #define OUT_GPIO(g){\ *(unsigned int *)(gpio+0x04) &= ~(6 << (((g) % 8) * 4));\ *(unsigned int *)(gpio+0x0…

We included in Armbian a small utility called h3disp. If called without arguments it displays just a usage information: tk@orangepipc:~$ sudo h3disp [sudo] password for tk: Usage: h3disp [-h/-H] -m [video mode] [-d] [-c [0-2]] ############################################################################ This is a tool to set the display resolution of your Orange Pi by patching script.bin. In case you use an HDMI-to-DVI converter please use the -d switch. The resolution can be set using the -m switch. The following resolutions are currently supported: 480i use "-m 480i" or "-m 0" 576i use "-m 576i" or "-m 1" 480p use "-m 480p" or "-m 2" 576p …

Orange Pi One PCB is designed to easy add almost all removed features from Orange Pi PC. Currently only RAM expansion is unprofitable. To add 2 removed USB ports just solder wires to solder points as shown below on the photo: Data lines for USB #3: points 1,2 Data lines for USB #2: points 3,4 Power can be taken directly from GPIO header or DC socket. OPiOne has no separate voltage regulators for USB ports like previous boards used to have. This way I want to solder mini WiFi dongle (after removing the case and USB port) directly to the PCB.

For those of you who're interested in running a CMS on Armbian I've a small tutorial how to get django CMS working. If you're not interested in the 'story' just want a step by step installation guide, scroll to the end of this post, there you find it. Story: Following their installation guide it fails during creation of a django project with 'djangocms -f -p . mysite'. tkaiser has built a new Kernel with i2s Modules. With this Kernel and some cheap DAC e.g. (http://www.ebay.de/itm/Audiophonics-I2S-DAC-ES9023-Sabre-to-Analog-24bit-192KHZ-fur-Raspberry-PI-/291573327639?hash=item43e31fe717:g:TTwAAOSw~OdVZXtm) it is possible to get good quality sound out of the Orange Pis. After installing the Kernel Two Things have to be changed in the fex File: Change Directory to boot: cd /boot Turn the script.bin to a fex-File and open it in an Editor sudo bin2fex script.bin script.fex sudo nano script.fex Now change the following Entries: [twi1] twi_used = 1 to [twi1] twi_used = 0 and [pcm0] daudi…

Another look at another SBC: The Orange Pi PC from Shenzen based Xunlong. The company claims to have done the original ODM work for Banana Pi as Foxconn contractor and started with 2 'Orange Pi' models based on the same A20 SoC shortly thereafter: 'Orange Pi' and 'Orange Pi Mini' -- both supported by Armbian from the beginning. Then they released the 'Orange Pi Plus' based on a newer Allwinner SoC: the H3 (quad-core Cortex-A7 running at 1.2GHz). This SoC is intended for dirt-cheap OTT boxes, is equipped with 4 independent USB 2.0 PHYs and also an integrated 100 Mbits/sec Ethernet PHY (but can still provide GBit Ethernet using an external PHY like RTL8211 as Xunlong i…

In this tutorial we build a custom .config for OrangePiOnePlus board, eg: to remove blutooth, WiFi and or USB3.x support since the hardware is not onboard, alternatively you can adjust settings to your needs which is not in the default .config. The section mentions, if file " userpatches/linux-$KERNELFAMILY-$KERNELBRANCH.config " exists, it will be used instead of default one from " config ". This means for the OPiOnePlus : " linux-sunxi64-dev.config " should be created, but please note "dev" is just one of the three options available, which are: " current ", " legacy " and " dev " The default config files are located in : " /armbian/config…

Station M1 is based on a firefly board quite similar to roc-rk3328-cc. However, the M1 has a different layout with all ports on the left or on the right, and it is enclosed in a metal case used also as a heat sink. The device tree is also different (rk3328-roc-pc instead of rk3328-roc-cc) and by default a smooth android 10 system is installed on emmc. Additionally, the powering of this board is ensured by a 5V USB-C port instead of a micro-usb for the roc-cc. You can find official pictures and specifications here. My M1 has 2GB ram and 16GB emmc but variants with 4GB ram and more emmc storage can be bought. Currently, an armbian CSC image can be downloaded (bu…

Hello, I apologize in advance if I haven't put the topic in the right section. I want to share my experience with NanoPC-T6 and two NVMe m.2 disk. I use my NanoPC-T6 for a small server. In the beginning I had 2 SSDs and an M.2 to 2 SATA adapter. But I never found the right solution to power both the NanoPC-T6 and the SSDs from 1 place. After some internet searching I was able to find a solution on how to put 2 NVMe drives on my NanoPC-T6 As you know NanoPC-T6 has 1 M.2 M-Key connector with PCIe 3.0 x4 There is also one PCIe which is M.2 E-key connector with PCIe 2.1 x1 With this adapter: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004762…
