Description Changes needed for Helios64 to use TF-A and u-boot, and no rkbin or rktools, to boot. These changes are just weakly tested on my helios64, but they have a much larger impact on the whole family of rk3399 boards. Similar changes ought to be able to be made for 3328, 3288, and 3368 boards according to https://github.com/u-boot/u-boot/blob/master/doc/board/rockchip/rockchip.rst How Has This Been Tested? New to arrive in the Beelink SER lineup is the SER5 marketed as a ‘SER PRO’ and features one of last year’s AMD Ryzen 5000 H-series processors typically used in high-performance productivity and gaming laptops. Beelink kindly sent one for review and I’ve looked at performance running both Windows 11 and Ubuntu 22.04. Beelink SER5 Hardware Overview The Beelink SER5 physically consists of a 126 x 113 x 42mm (4.96 x 4.45 x 1.65 inches) square metal case. As an actively cooled mini PC, it uses AMD’s 7 nm Zen 3 Ryzen 5 5600H Cezanne processor which is a six-core 12-thread 3.3 GHz mobile processor boosting to 4.2 GHz with Radeon Graphics. The front panel has an illuminated powe…

This config simplifies the U-Boot build only scenario. If this switch is set, then KERNEL_ONLY is implied to "yes". The U-Boot only build also ensures proper host prepare and any other validation, the default build procedure performs. The motivation is to simplify UBOOT_ONLY building by just one compile parameter / switch, but keeping the default dependent compile procedures like e.g. host compare and other pre-config validations as is. This makes it also useful for CICD compile configurations. Changes lib/functions/main/config-prepare.sh: imply to set KERNEL_ONLY=yes, if UBOOT_ONLY is set "yes" lib/functions/main/default-build.sh: changed do_default(): added appr…

by popular demand: bring back KERNEL_CONFIGURE=yes during image build It seems I was once again terribly wrong. People love KERNEL_CONFIGURE=yes and specially the ability to select in dialog, and specially the one-step config+build all at once. Sorry for inconvenience caused... partially revert 6ef394d95de6a113099caf3d31b668c04dda3862 (thus bring back the TUI/dialog for selecting KERNEL_CONFIGURE=yes/no) partially revert d890b418c7107af183b5f1f2a9304923537766c4 (thus bring back the capacity to config & build image in one go) stop after configuring kernel, but only if command is kernel-config, not regular image-build KERNEL_CONFIGURE=yes View the full article

Description Hello all, This PR adds support for the Texas Instruments SK-AM62B. Features, schematics, and purchase links can be found on the board page[0]. This board is similar to the already supported SK-AM64B board but with a AM62 SoC. One big difference being the AM62 has a display controller and a GPU (IMG AXE-1-16M). Unfortunately the display controller driver is still being upstreamed and is not supported in the v6.4 kernel, so desktop support will have to wait until that is finished, we set HAS_VIDEO_OUTPUT to "no" for now. Description This problem was first reported by a user on Armbian forum affecting Orange Pi Win and Orange Pi Prime with 6.1 kernel. The problem was when running iperf3 for network testing, it reported extremely low speed in the range of 40Mbps instead of 900Mbps that was shown on Debian kernel. It was also observed on multiple other devices during testing of 6.5 including Orange Pi Zero Plus by @schwar3kat and Pine A64+ by @PanderMusubi. Legacy kernel performed a bit better giving 400+ Mbps speed. Running something like htop or watch -n 1 echo in parallel seemed to resolve the issue. I was able to narrow it down to sun8i-a33-mbus driver which is dram frequency scaling dr…

This cycle centers on Linux 7.2/7.3 kernel enablement across out-of-tree drivers, new board support and platform fixes across Rockchip, SpacemiT, and Amlogic, and a broad documentation and CI cleanup. Kernel progression dominated the driver ecosystem, with 7.3 patch sets prepared for rockchip64, meson64, and the UEFI targets, and edge bumps to 7.2.3 landing for qcs6490, qrb2210, and sc8280xp. A wave of Wi‑Fi drivers was re-enabled and bumped for 7.3 compatibility, including rtl8189es/fs, rtl8192eu, rtl8723ds, rtl8852bs, uwe5622, and bcmdhd-dkms, most addressing the strncpy removal and the cfg80211 remain_on_channel cookie signature change. Linux 5.18 is out! Linus Torvalds has just announced the release on lkml: No unexpected nasty surprises this last week, so here we go with the 5.18 release right on schedule. That obviously means that the merge window for 5.19 will open tomorrow, and I already have a few pull requests pending. Thank you everybody. I’d still like people to run boring old plain 5.18 just to check, before we start with the excitement of all the new features for the merge window. The full shortlog for the last week is below, and nothing really odd stands out. The diffstat looks a bit funny – unusually we have parsic architecture patches being a big part of it due to some last-minute cache flu…

Chips may suddenly disappear from the supply chain or get really expensive due to the recurring supply shortage, companies are now designing their PCBs to support multiple chips either selecting drop-in replacements or creating multiple footprints to cater to at least one alternative part. That means one PCB and multiple bill-of-materials are needed to be more resilient to any supply disruption. Radxa did that on the ROCK 3A board for the USB PD circuitry with the ability to use either Injoinic IP2315 or WCH CH224D IC. Those are not pin-to-pin compatible chips, and two circuitry were made for the board requiring two BoMs as it’s not just possible to only replace IP2315 by…

We’ve previously seen it’s possible to connect an eGPU to a mini PC through a PCIe x16 to M.2 NVMe adapter or a Thunderbolt 3 port, but while it’s fine to install on your desk for gaming or develop AI applications, the eGPU being larger than most mini PCs, it’s a little too big to integrate into products, and potentially inconvenient to carry around. ADLINK Pocket AI portable eGPU changes that with an NVIDIA RTX A500 GPU housed in a 106 x 72 x 25mm box that’s about the size of a typical power bank and connects to a host through a Thunderbolt 3 connector. The company says the upcoming eGPU is mostly designed for AI developers, professional graphics users, and embedded indu…

I have started this months ago, but due to high demand from other subjects (armbian-next) haven't had time to finish. What I did here was take Khadas tree (.66) and rebase it on top of rk3.4/Radxa tree (.110) for the rock-5b, similar to what was done for the OrangePi5. Some patches conflicted and I intervened (those are marked as intervention). This needs review, a board file, a developer with the new Khadas I/O board for UART, and some luck, patience to fix my mistakes, and might just work. Who knows? If it's useless just bin this... There's two patch files, one with stuff I deemed "required" and other with stuff "might be nice". The MCU stuff of Khadas is heavily ent…

We first spotted the AMD Ryzen Embedded 5000 processors in a micro-ATX motherboard last August, but AMD has now only announced the availability the of Ryzen Embedded 5000 Series “Zen 3” processors designed for “always on” networking firewalls, network-attached storage systems, and other security applications. AMD also mentions the Ryzen Embedded 5000 are “power-efficient processors”, but that does not mean low power, as those embedded processors are 65 to 105W parts, and offer a step-up in performance from the 10 to 54W AMD Ryzen Embedded V3000 processors also targetting networking and storage applications. As we found out last year, four SKUs are available with the Ryze…

LOLIN S3 Mini is a tiny ESP32-S3 WiFi and Bluetooth IoT development board that follows the Wemos D1 Mini form factor and supports its equally tiny stackable shields to add relays, displays, sensors, and so on. Wemos/LOLIN introduced their first ESP32-S3 board last year with the LOLIN S3 board with plenty of I/Os and an affordable $7 price tag. But I prefer the company’s Mini form factor because of its size and the ability to select add-on boards to easily add a range of features to your projects. So I’m pleased to find out the company has now launched the LOLIN S3 Mini following the ESP32-C3 powered LOLIN C3 Mini board unveiled in March 2022. LOLIN S3 Mini specifications…

Description A recent rk356x patch changed part of pwm-rockchip.c file; in particular it adds a mandatory "active" pinctrl state, which is not expected for existing PWM users for all rockchip64 family chips (notably px30, rk3328 and rk3399) where PWM is in use and "active" pinctrl name is not provided. In case PWM is used as modulator for some voltage regulation, may break opp and devfreq framework (in my particular case, a tv box, made cpu unable to do frequency scaling and prevented lima driver to be correctly setup). We’ve already covered inexpensive offline voice recognition modules based on US516P6 or TW-ASR ONE microcontrollers that allow people to add smarts to their projects without a network connection for improved privacy and lower latency. Those are great in theory, but at the time (April 2022) documentation was lacking or only in Chinese, and they were fairly hard to use based on some of the comments in my earlier posts. But today, I’ve noticed DFRobot is now selling the “Gravity: Offline Voice Recognition Sensor – I2C & UART” module with support for Arduino programming, and it looks fairly easy to customize as we’ll see further below. squash some warnings (found during all-artifacts+all-images builds on CI) When building "all" the things, these kind of innofensive WARNs pile up. Clean them up a bit.
