Description Big pull request that consolidates rockchip 32bit and rk322x families together, for less painful kernel patch adaption during maintance cycles. Jira reference number AR-1988 Despite this is the minor nightmarish part of the rockchip patches archive, consolidation could and has been done. In particular, this PR do: merge patches from rockchip and rk322x families for current and edge kernels, moving everything into rockchipfamily migrate edge kernel rockchip-6.6 into patch series, rename all patches with more understandable names with alphabetical prefixes in place of numeric ones (sunxi inspired) implement new style dt and overlay directories for edge and …

Description I noticed that I was not seeing many locales that were supposed to be shown during first login like en_IN for English India. I was only getting the following 3 options when choosing to get locales based on my location At your location, more locales are possible: 1) bhb_IN.UTF-8 2) tcy_IN.UTF-8 3) Skip generating locales Please enter your choice: This is because we were looking for .UTF-8 suffix in the locale names. But not all UTF-8 locales have that suffix. All UTF-8 locales do end with UTF-8 at the end. So now we are using the same. With the fix, I am now getting much better result. Here is the list after the fix for comparison At your location, more lo…

Description Bumping U-boot to 2024.01-rc5 for Allwinner boards. There were some defconfig patches that were failing, I have migrated them to board config file using post_uboot_config_target hook function. This has resulted into removal of several patches. There are still some defconfig patches left, I will move them as and when needed. Apart from that, updated crust support patches for Allwinner H3 as few of them had patch application failure. As U-boot now has AXP313 support, I have removed the patch for the same and have migrated Bigtreetech to use the upstream driver. How Has This Been Tested? Description The lm75 sensor was defined in the dts as "onnn,lm75". Set it to "national,lm75" as is set in the upstream dts. (there is no such thing as "onnn,lm75"). Later on (or maybe I should include it there) we should remove the lm75 module from MODULES and MODULES8lEGACY in config/boards/helios64.csc, as the DTS already loads it. (which makes me think "onnn,lm75" as a DTS node never was recognized by a kernel, thus the need to explicitly load lm75). How Has This Been Tested? Description Switch back to Rockchip DDR binary for DDR initialization in u-boot for Helios64. I believe there is nothing board-specific about this memory initialization issue, but it might be no other Armbian board has this combination of rk3399 and LPDDR4. Else there is something specific about the memory set up on the Helios64 hardware. On the Helios64 random memory errors happens when using the U-Boot DDR intialization code for rk3399. Switching to the rkbin rk33 933MHz v1.25 allows this testcase to run more than once without a memory error: for i in $(seq 1 100);do python3 -c "import pkg_resources" || break;done Could be LPDDR4 specific. Dear Armbian Community, It’s been an eventful two weeks since our last point release of 2023. Despite facing some challenges, we’ve been hard at work ensuring the continued excellence of Armbian. Point Release Recap Unfortunately, we encountered unexpected issues since our release. A batch of images was accidentally deleted, requiring a complete restart of the generation process. Additionally, our main rsync server experienced IPv6 connectivity issues, resulting in delays in mirror synchronization for several days. However, we’ve successfully generated our first set of images, now available by checking out the builds script to v23.11. Enhanced Support Policies To strea…

Description This PR adds a board config file for RPi 5. While on it, the PR also removes dependency on flash-kernel. Instead some custom scripts are added into the bsp package for installation of updated dtb, kernel and initrd files. Using both rpi4b and rpi5b will produce images compatible with rpi5, but the image created with BOARD=rpi5b will not run on older hardware. The kernel config, patches etc are shared between both boards. To prevent creating new family for RPI5 specific kernel, I have added support for something I call kernel variants. This is basically going to be almost same kernel with extremely small changes that doesn't justify creating new family and yet …

Description Recently, I accidentally erased an SPI flash with an bootloader installed and tried to reinstall the latest bootloader. But it did not recognize the attached disks and proceeded to TFTP Boot. Only by stopping autoboot and hot-swapping the disks or reattaching did the bootloader recognize it, and I was then able to boot with the command. Description The "optional/boards" directory seems to have been deprecated and actually never used so much. Remove the last board support package there (rk3318-box) and move into extension as suggested by @rpardini. Ancillary BSP files have been removed too. The extension may have global interest because it was a workaround for X.Org and Lima driver: the former was not able to autodetect the latter with some revision combinations. That configuration fixes the autodetection. At the moment, it has been enabled in rk3318-box board and rk322x family. How Has This Been Tested? Description As specified in PR https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/5967, there was a nasty mistake in rockchip and rk322x source files that were attempting to create two groups (gpio and i2c) on the building host instead of the built image. This caused the build system to crash when the groups were already present on the building host, which is totally not desiderable, and the intended feature was also broken. After some inspection, the groups were leveraged by a couple of udev rules to allow non-root users have access to gpio and i2c resources out of the box. This PR fixes the group creation on the target built image. Note: gpio and i2c gids starts from 900 because g…

Description This PR fixes EXTRAWIFI=no compilation when uwe5622 driver and rockchip64 family is involved. The error was due to the fact that uwe5622 driver has been moved in misc patch directory some time ago, but a custom patch was left into family kernel patches to adapt the driver to rockchip64 platform. EXTRAWIFI=no would not patch the kernel to include the driver, but the custom patch was still applied since it was present as kernel patch and that would cause a failure. With this PR, the custom rockchip patch has been moved into misc directory as well and it is applied selectively in code, so EXTRAWIFI=no works correctly. Also uwe5622 related patches are moved into…

As a result, the configuration file structure was significantly redesigned and is not compatible with the structure of the previous version. Description We are using unudhcpd from pmos for usb gadget network dhcp server. But this package is not upstreamed to debian, and it's the only package we use for qcom abl that is not upstreamed, so replace it with dnsmasq. Difference between unudhcpd and dnsmasq: 1, unudhcpd is a very simple dhcp server which only provides one ip address to the client. While dnsmasq will provide different ip address on every usb gadget network connect because the mac address of usb gadget network client always changes. 2, When usbgadget network is disabled by command systemctl status usbgadget-rndis.service, dnsmasq will get stopped. If dnsmasq is not stopped, client won't get address …

Description Add support for RPi5 in our bcm2711 kernel. This is mostly but not entirely based on changes from Raspberry Pi kernel PR 5618. After enabling those options, I noticed that even though hdmi was working, kernel was not able to find the sdcard and usb was also not working. So I had to use diffconfig to compare our configs with the vendor config and enable some more options. Raising the PR so that others can also play with it as well. Meanwhile I will work on getting Trixie Desktop Image running with mesa 23.3-rc5 from experimental repo. As part of that I will split RPi 5 into separate board config until recent version of mesa is made available in current debian …

Description Fix uboot booting from zstd compressed BTRFS. uboot logs before fix: Found U-Boot script /boot/boot.scr ZSTD_decompressStream error 7 3252 bytes read in 41 ms (77.1 KiB/s) ... SCRIPT FAILED: continuing... Error 7 means "frame parameter window too large". It looks like uboot's max window size specification on decompressor init is totally wrong (compressed data size is used as max window size). Zstd default max window size is 128MB, but I'm unsure is it good idea to malloc 128MB in uboot on each BTRFS extent decompression. So I have capped minimum window size to 128KB - it should be sufficient for BTRFS as max compressed extent size is 128KB. How Has This Be…
