  26. Google has launched the new Chromecast with Google TV (HD) powered by an Amlogic S805X2 quad-core Cortex-A35 CPU that offers a cheaper alternative to the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) that is limited to 1080p60 resolution, instead of the 4Kp60 video output supported by the Amlogic S905X3 model. While the processor is slower, the system comes with less memory (1.5GB vs 2GB), and only supports 1080p60, it supports the more efficient AV1 video decoding and as well as A/B partitions for seamless updates since the firmware does not need to be downloaded to the internal storage before the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) specifications: SoC – Amlogic S805X2 quad-core Cortex-A35 …

  31. Description I have changed the way the patches are generated a bit. Instead of using orange-pi branch from megous tree for 6.6 kernel, I have used the following 6.6 kernel branches from megous tree a83t-suspend, af8133j, anx, audio, axp, cam, err, fixes, mbus, modem, opi3, pb, pinetab, pp, ppkb, samuel, speed, tbs-a711, ths These branches were carefully chosen to include only allwinner related patches and remove importing of most of the rockchip related patches into the allwinner kernel. This has led to decrease in the total applied patch count by 84. We now apply 407 patches instead of 491 patches as applied in 6.5 kernel, while all functionality will remain the same. …

  64. Started by admin,

Dear Armbians, It’s been a month since our last newsletter. We hope you are enjoying our new release! Here are the topics we are working on: Infra We are aware that our primary repository management and rsync servers need serious upgrades, as it takes hours and hours to deliver a release. Past week we have enabled two additional servers and several others are waiting for the upgrade. This will further improve time to deliver updates and new images. Documentation We are working on improving the documentation, focusing on the build framework. The current build framework documentation is largely outdated, which poses a challenge for those unfamiliar with the tool. Builds …

  72. Description This PR includes the following changes I noticed that we were making use of r_i2c to communicate with AXP chip for Orange Pi lite2 and one plus in linux kernel, but were using r_rsb in u-boot. Made this consistent by porting the patch used in sunxi kernel to u-boot. Moved to board specific crust config for Orange Pi 3, lite2 and one plus. The difference from previous configuration is that crust will now be aware of presence of AXP power chip present on the board and hence should be able to lower the power usage further during sleep or shutdown state Enabled kernel module for Hantro G2 video codec block available on H6 boards.
