Description Ubuntu noble ships qbootctl with a bug which makes qbootctl service can't start: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1057918. I fixed it in my ppa liujianfeng1994/qcom-mainline. I use a silly dd method to create rootfs. It's better to use losetup to load the built image and copy rootfs from the mounted loop device. Note: ubuntu noble also ships mkbootimg with bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1050300, which will make this extension not working. So it's better not using noble as build environment. Debian's fix is still not packaged: https://salsa.debian.org/android-tools-team/android-platform-tools/-/commit/d26c3b5ac89efd92…

This week’s Armbian development saw a series of notable updates focused on expanding hardware support and improving system stability. Key highlights include the addition of new board configurations, such as the Radxa E24C and rk3566-box-demo, as well as enhancements to device tree files for improved hardware control. Kernel updates were prominent, with fixes for AV1 and VP9 decoding, expanded support for kernel 6.18, and a rewrite of Rockchip kernel patches. Installation processes were streamlined with the introduction of a direct flashing method, while sound card and display support received targeted improvements. The team also deprecated EFI/Grub in favor of a more robu…

Description The general improvements for RK3588 on 6.9 and 6.10 weren't as many as we've hoped, but still this is what was mainlined: USB3 DRD support, including PHY usbdp HDMI PHY GPU We already had most of those features patched in via patches, but this gives us the chance to finally be able to remove those and stay closer to mainline. -> PR summary: (+5,895 - 28,098) ~= 22,000 lines less 👍 (meaning less hassles in the future, less maintenance needed) In addition to that, I have also updated our patch to support RK3588 thermal sensors and management, enabling and improving the use of cooling fans. Description This story with the spidev driver has been going on for quite a long time. Kernel developers do not want this driver to be called by its name spidev. They probably have serious reasons. Starting from kernel version 5.15.1, we will be able to call, load this kernel module only using an alias that should not match the name of this module. This fix allows us to move in line with the upward changes of the kernel and keep our patches of the dtb overlay files in working condition. Please see this page. Description I have these minor patches pending on a repository of mine for rockchip64, I would like to merge them to, later with another PR, commit a CSC configuration for rk3318 tvbox. The mtd-utils package provides NAND and SPI flash capabilities for mainline kernel /dev/mtdX devices. This will help on board setup from SD card boot. closes #4427 Description The mtd-utils package provides tools for flashing the boards NAND and/or SPI flash chips. In the meanwhile most NAND and SPI chips are supported by mainline kernel MTD drivers. Boards like Cubietruck or Odroid M1 can boot from NAND or SPI with mainline U-Boot. The according flash chips can be flashed with the mtd-utils tools from the mainline kernel booted OS after an initial Armbian SD card boot. This simplifies board setup or boards boot loader update to enable booting from the on board soldered…

Power problems are one of the most common causes of instability, boot failures, or random restarts in single board computers (SBCs). Because many modern boards use USB-C connectors for power, it’s important to verify that your power supply is delivering the correct voltage and current before assuming there’s a hardware fault. Check the basicsStart by confirming that your USB-C cable and adapter are rated for your board’s requirements. Most SBCs need 5 V at 3 A (15 W). Some boards, like the Orange Pi 5 or Raspberry Pi 5, may negotiate 9 V or 12 V via USB Power Delivery (PD), depending on their design. If you’re using a phone charger or low-power adapter, it may not provide…

Description Fix missing lightdm wallpaper. I noticed that the directory path in slick-greeter.conf is not correct. Our wallpapers are in armbian-lightdm directory. When checked in xfce image for vim4, /usr/share/backgrounds/lightdm was missing. Haven't tested the fix yet, but this seems to be the most obvious reason behind the missing lightdm wallpaper. Keep your SBC running cool and fastHeat is the enemy of performance. When your SBC gets too hot, it automatically slows down to prevent damage through thermal throttling. While most heatsinks come with pre-applied thermal pads for convenience, switching to quality thermal paste can significantly improve cooling and keep your board running at full speed. Why what's between your chip and heatsink mattersBoth thermal paste and thermal pads serve the same purpose: filling microscopic air gaps between your chip and heatsink. Air is one of the worst heat conductors, so eliminating these gaps is crucial for efficient cooling. Thermal paste wins because it's thinner and conforms …

LilyGO T-Display-S3 is an ESP32-S3 WiFi and Bluetooth LE IoT development board with a 1.9-inch color LCD and support for LiPo batteries that follows the company’s T-QT ESP32-S3 board with a tiny 0.85-inch display introduced earlier this month. The new board offers the same layout as the previous T-Display RP2040 or ES32 boards, but the 1.14-inch display has been replaced with a larger 1.9-inch display that covers most of the board, and thanks to the ESP32-S3 microcontroller, gains proper Bluetooth 5.0 support, as well as vector instructions for AI acceleration. T-Display-S3 specifications: Wireless MCU – Espressif Systems ESP32-S3R8 dual-core Tensilica LX7 @ up to 240 MHz…

Boufallo Lab BL616/BL618 is a 32-bit RISC-V wireless microcontroller with support for 2.4 GHz WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 dual-mode, and an 802.15.4 radio for Zigbee, Thread, and Matter designed for IoT applications. We first spotted the BL616 RISC-V IoT MCU during the BL602/BL606 announcement in November 2020, but we had virtually no additional information about it so far. It appears both BL616 and BL618 will be launched next month with the main difference between the two being that BL616 has 19 GPIOs and BL618 comes with 35 GPIOs. Bouffalo Lab BL616 and BL618 specifications: MCU core – 32-bit RISC-V CPU (RV32GCP) @ up to 384 MHz (datasheet says 320 MHz) with FPU and DSP, 32KB…

A more reliable release process - made togetherhttp://blog.armbian.com/content/images/2025/11/release.png Each release cycle brings us closer to a smoother, more predictable, and more professional workflow—and this cycle was no exception. Our release process continues to evolve with better tooling, clearer procedures, and an increasing ability to deliver consistent results across a rapidly expanding and diverse hardware ecosystem. Despite having a significant amount of automated testing in place, the most reliable testing remains manual testing. Every image in this release was manually validated for basic functionality. This is a massive undertaking that requires time, di…
