  1. I have managed to build FFmpeg with Cedrus on Armbian and it seems working. It would be nice to see some benchs and how would be the best use for this AW Encoder. I have not much experience with FFmpeg. You can test it: https://github.com/avafinger/ffmpeg_cedrus264_H3 To grab video stream from the CMOS camera: sudo ./ffmpeg -f v4l2 -channel 0 -video_size 640x480 -i /dev/video0 -pix_fmt nv12 -r 30 -b:v 64k -c:v cedrus264 test.mp4

Since my current board (Cubieboard 2) has been kicked out of the game, it's time to move on to a new one. Is there any chance to see an Armbian version for the Banana Pi R2 someday? This board is winner for me because of the Dual SATA feature (the router, not so much). If there are no plans for this board, please tell me for how long you'll support the Cubietruck, since it's my second choice. Thx in advance...

I just released a simple library for the MAX7219 LED matrix controller. It allows controlling any number of cascaded controllers in a very simple way. I tested it on an Orange Pi Lite. Even though it says it needs 5V, I ran the board @ 3.3v, it worked fine and didn't require any 3.3v->5v level converters. Here's the code: https://github.com/bitbank2/MAX7219 And a video of it in action: https://photos.app.goo.gl/iO66bsy6Wk13lT1y2

I have used a router with IP 192.168.4.1 as DHCP server, which is not connected to internet. The routing table is accordingly similar to [1] Wifi is not yet set up. When I want to, it should connect to a different AP/router (say operating as 192.168.1.1 seen over wlan0), and therefore also the routes have to be adjusted. My question is: can I delete the default route in [1] while still retaining connection to the Pi via Ethernet? (from the PC which is on the 192…

I would like to install a small mpd server (Music Player Daemon) that would read files from a usb disk, stream webradios and possibly be controlled by ir. What is the most lightweight and cheapest board that would exist and could do that ? The orange pi zero with an extension board or a usb audio card would have been perfect, but I read several posts about the lack of software updates and the never resolved kernel issues. How bad is it really ? And then what else would do the job?

In addition, Armbian's compatibility page (see the download page) lists two devices that I'm interested in: The USB3-to-Gbit Ethernet adapter. The Mini-PCIe-to-4-SATA-ports card. Note: This card will not be able to reach the full 6Gbit for SATA, but around 5Gbit, which is still quite good. And last but not least; Armbian of course needs some testers on this platform. 21. On my journey to finding the best solution for cross SBC/cross language GPIO support I went through the same issues as Python by the C side author did it seems and landed on CFFI. This is faster than ctypes and seem more natural to program with. ctypesgen (the code generator) doen't really support Python 3, so I've hit a dead end there. It seems like JNA is still the best choice for Java bindings, so I'm sticking with that for now. In any event I threw together a button press app that uses CFFI and libgrpiod. I'll be updating my bindings project to support this soon. libgpiod version 1.1.devel Name: gpiochip1, label: 1f02c00.pinctrl, lines: 32 Press button…

  30. I just released my multi-system game emulator (GameBoy+NES+GameGear for now). Optimized for directly outputting to SPI LCD displays (e.g. ili9341). Runs on any CPU type, but has optimizations for ARM+X64. I wrote 100% of the code, so it might be behave differently than other game emulators. GB+GG are nearly perfect. NES is missing some popular mappers. The code is very optimized to begin with, but also uses a dirty-tile system to minimize the data sent to the SPI bus. This allows inexpensive SPI displays (e.g. ili9341) to run at or near 60 frames per second for many games even though the SPI bus can only do 30FPS of full screen updates. https://github.com/bitbank2/sg_fre…

  33. I just released a new library to act as a DNS filter. This differs from pi-hole in that it runs as a user-level program and doesn't depend on dnsmasq. This allows you to run it on a machine without changing your network configuration. It hasn't been rigorously tested, but appears to work properly. It can either proxy the packets to a trusted DNS server or spoof the return address using RAW sockets to route the response back to the requestor. It can fool web pages (like CNN) as it blocks ads and replaces dynamic ad script requests with innocuous javascript responses. https://github.com/bitbank2/bb-hole

I'm looking for current and upcoming PXE bootable SBCs. I guess if it has uboot on a SPI chip (like ROCK64, PINE64, espressobin, opi r1 ...) this is already a good indicator that it will support PXE boot. But I'm not 100% sure if PXE will really work, it seems to be rarely used for such boards. The only board I know which does not have uboot but can boot via PXE is the rpi 3. Maybe there are other ones. Some other boards like the nanopi duo could boot via a SPI chip attached to the respective GPIO pins. Maybe someone here knows other boards with PXE boot support or has tested it already?

General functionality is that it makes digital timecards for every employee action/swipe of an RFID tag. Every swipe also punches a Google Sheet based on company department, by utilizing regex to find column associated with employee name, then the row based on today's date. It then punches current military time to corresponding clock in/out offset. The timecard math is all done using the Google spreadsheet functions to discern overtime, total hours, etc... Hi guys, After trying multiple things and not getting a satisfying result, I decided to just ask: What is best device to use as a low power torrent downloader? I tried with a raspberry pi 2, but kept getting huge fluctuations in speed, as soon as it had to write to usb (on an expensive high speed usb 3 stick). I googled and googled, and came across the orange pi, which had a more powerfull soc, and didn't have the limitation of using a single usb hub that is shared for ethernet+storage. The boards (bought a PC and a one) finally arrived, but they disappoint. Using armbian, real world average speed seems to be even lower than the rpi2. I must admit I used a …

I appily donated and started to study this distro. I am learning what it is and what it could do for me as micro server. Especially am uninstalling and purging software. For example there is Thunderbird into my orange Pi Armbian. I need to purge it. I need to purge Libre office. If I give: sudo apt-get remove (or purge) thunderbird, the terminal says that the app doesn't exists. Please can I uninstall software via other ways? Thanks.

Greetings, colleagues! When I connect a Wi-Fi USB adapter, the system assigns it a terrible interface name! I'm used to the fact that a well-bred Linux gives them names like wlan0, wlan1, etc... Armbian gives the name according to the following scheme: "wlx<MAC-ADDRESS>"! It is very uncomfortable! How I can persuade him to give names according to the traditional scheme? I am grateful for the answers on the essence of the question, Ogogon.

At a first glance NanoPi Duo looks like a combination of Lichee Pi Zero (form, idea) and Orange Pi Zero (ingredients: H2+ and XR819 Wi-Fi). But once combined with the Mini Shield (RPi form factor -- connector and mounting hole positions), USB hub to provide 4 USB2 ports, Fast Ethernet exposed and a short mSATA slot behind a JMS567 USB-to-SATA bridge) it starts to get interesting. We apologise for some deleted posts and users, wrong settings and possible bugs. Since our previous forum was 5-6 years old, upgrade is tremendous but we will try to keep it similar on function level. There was a plan for redesign but this will be done once in the future. Enjoy!

I recently added a few that might interest some of the forum residents here. They include a C library to talk to the RPI Sense Hat, ST Micro VL53L0X time of flight distance sensor, and CCS811 air quality sensor. You can find them all here: https://github.com/bitbank2 If anyone has a sensor/add-on that they would like to program in C from their Orange Pi and there isn't any code available, let me know and maybe I can add it to my collection.
